06/08/08 Magic And Mickey To Mexico!!!

I think I have our excursions all figured out. The hard part is that I'm doing the cruise again in August (returning the ship to Florida through the Canal) and I don't want to do the same things twice.

Now to just PAY for the rest of this baby so we can book the excursions!

So here's our plan:

CABO:
I reserved a catamaran for a two bay snorkel through Shore Trips, lunch included on the cat.
Plenty of time to shop and look around town afterward. The main shopping area is within a decent walking distance of the ship, but last time, we took a taxi back to the ship as we were short on time and pooped out.

MAZATLAN:
Going to book DCL's excursion...Mazatlan Beach Escape to the Los Sabalos Resort. Again, plenty of time to check out the town before we have to get back on the ship.

PUERTO VALLARTA:
Going to book DCL's excursion to Las Caletas Hideaway. We did this last time and liked it well enough to do it again. Also leaves enough time to shop and look around the port.

I guess you can tell that we are snorkelers. We HAVE to get in the water wherever we go. Last time, we got a taxi van to take us on a tour around Mazatlan and it was really pretty cool. We were very safe with our driver (I still have his business card!) got to see the highlights, the cliff divers, the "old town" and a lot of the city. So I feel like we've done that, we're free to go look at fish this time. ;)

Rebecca...I'll pray for your husband and his job!! We want you to come.

:goodvibes Thank you so much, we need all the help/prayers  we can get. I was just talking to DH yesterday saying, our final payment is due the third week of March and that we needed to start thinking about when we will need to cancel. It makes me weep :sad1: inside just thinking aobut it. BUT I have faith that all will work out and we will be sipping virgin pina colada on June 8th with the sun setting behind my deck chair. :lovestruc Will keep you all updated as I get more information. Many :grouphug:

Hello,

My family and I will be joining all you lovely folks on this cruise. It will be my husband 40, daughter 5 and myself 39. Lorie

:welcome: Lori :rainbow: So glad you all could join us, we are not a large group but we are mighty. :lmao: So for us who is going is DH, 42, Me 43, DD 11, DD 9, Twin DS's 7 DD's best friend who is also 11 and DB who is 49. It will DH and I's 7 cruise, second with DCL, our two DD's thrid cruise, second with DCL, and Ds's, DB, and DD's best friend have never cruise before. And if all goes well pixiedust: [read DH gets a new contract] we are also all going to Disneyland for three days prior to sailing. Dh, Me, Dd's have all been before, but none of the others have...so it will be a big experience for all of them. And if that isn't enough ALL of them [except DH, and DB] ONLY know that we are going to Disneyland....NONE of them have any idea about the cruise. :woohoo: We are still trying to decide on which hotel to stay at, but can't seem to get any good reviews that have us going in one direction :confused3 So if you have any suggestions please let me know. :thumbsup2 So welcome again, and jump right in. :dance3:

Has anyone ever had any luck getting switched from late dinning to early dinning? My TA has us wait-listed since February last year, but we have not heard anything. My 5yr old daughter goes to bed at 7pm and so I am worried about an 8pm dinner. Any suggestions on how to get this changed? Does the wait-list usually work? Is there some one I can bribe? :rolleyes1
Starting to dream and plan. I am hoping we can do a pre-cruise DL visit. We'll see how the finances hold up after taxes. Geesh!
Have a great week.

P.S. It's been fun reading all of the old posts. I feel like I know many of you already!

Lorie, that surprises me....I didn't think this cruise would be so full that you couldn't have gotten switched to early dining a long time ago. Hmmm...

The chances ARE good that you'll get moved, and even the day you get on the ship, you can go to Guest Services and talk to them about it. But I think you should bypass your TA and call DCL yourself. As long as you have your reservation number, call the main reservation line and talk to them about it.

If that doesn't work, I have an e-mail address that might help you. Send me a PM and I can forward it to you.

:thumbsup2 You should have zero problems at all..... Most folks WANT the late seating dinner.... :happytv: Here is a funny story.. On our first DCL we departed out of Flordia... We also had late seating dinner... I was thinking "oh gosh there is a 3 hour time diffrence I need to change the seating to early or else we will be eating at what feels like 11pm to us". So I ran down changed the seating to early... The first two days we were like "oh gosh it is sooo soon to popcorn:: eat" and DH was like 'babe we should have tried to get late seating" I told him I changed it because of the time change and then he gently reminded me that we are 3 hours ahead NOT behind so it was feeling like we were eating dinner at 2pm in the afternoon :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I got the time mixed up  ::yes:: Just had to share. :lovestruc

We've always had the late seating, even when the kids were little. I hate coming back from a day in port and having to rush to get everyone showered and dressed for dinner.
My son would usually get some chicken strips to hold him over, and even a quick nap once or twice. He was always so excited about all the "fun" at dinner, he never did konk out on us.

Thanks, Stacey. That' a good idea. I will give it a try. If it doesn't work, I may take you up on that email address. Although you got me thinking about rushing back from shore for an early dinner.
Is breakfast time set by dinner seating or is it open? Maybe it would be better to try to adjust her schedule the week before we leave.

Lorie

Did I get a Top? That's a good thing, right? Still learning this whole forum thing =-)

Does anyone know if the salon on board does hair for the formal night? What about for little girls? I know children are not allowed in the spa, but does that apply for the salon, too? My daughter would LOVE to have her hair done for our "night at the ball".princess:

Thanks!

Lorie

A "TOP" is something that we've done on other cruise threads, just for fun.....and yes, to me, it is SPECIAL!!!

CONGRATS ON THE T.O.P. Lorie!!!!:cheer2:

(T.O.P. = Top of Page!)

Yes, they will do your hair for formal night, and most of the time they do a really good job. My hair is persnickity, so it doesn't always come out the way I want it.
The trick is to make your appointment a.s.a.p. when you get onboard, because everyone else will want their hair done for formal night also.

Unfortunately, they won't do little girls....not even for weddings. But I *think* that there is a new "Mommy & Me" offered at the spa. I'm not 100% sure if they are doing that for sure though.....

Just a fun, silly thing we've always done. If you have the first post at the top of a new page, then you get to claim a T.O.P.
Lorie had the first post at the top of this new page...and I think Megan had the top of the last page. Not really a competition, just fun and Goofy! :goofy:
