No. It's not cold. I'm not allowed to say it's cold. Apparently, the people I left back in the north don't appreciate that I rubbed in how warm it was down here recently and now they are mocking me for saying it's cold---since it's way colder up there. Apparently a drop of 30 degrees as a high doesn't mean "cold" anymore. (sigh)

But look on the bright side... by Saturday, it will be 80 again. Those people up there are going to have to wait 6 months to see 80 again!!!!

(Yes, it is 'cold'... you just have to remember that 'cold' is a relative term)

Exactly....our nights in the 60's are COLD to me........but we're still having (unusual) highs in the 90's during the day. I HATE when it goes from summer to winter without having any Fall in between.

That's a big reason DH wants to move to FLA. I on the other hand like the winter. I didn't say "love" like I used to say. I'm just not sure about Florida. Everything just moves too slow. Plus, anyone have a job for me if I come? The 80 degrees sounds very enticing.

Let me explain....in the supermarket, New Yorkers are usually always in a hurry. Not so in FLA. Driving, well, that's debatable. Some move too fast, others with blue hair and white knuckles move too slow. Don't get me wrong, I think it's something I could get very used to. It may take this "always in a rush" person to adapt. Right now we're concentrating on staying in NY. The housing market doesn't help with trying to "sell" a house.

I hope that explains what I meant. :thumbsup2

Gotcha. Other than driving, people do seem pretty laid back and friendly. My mom warned me that "only old people" live in FL (one of her many reasons why we shouldn't live here) but, while there are elderly around our area, it's not overpopulated with them. I think the old people live away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando. They live about an hour away--like where Mike's mom lives. HA!

Hey, Kiki and the Scubas all live about an hour away.

What are you saying? :confused3

The old slow people are more contained on the WEST coast of the state... I don't think I could live over there... (though I do love Sarasota)... the median age for our town is what, 39 or so??

No no no. The old people don't live on the coast. Because the hurricane insurance rates are too high and with the incredibly high cost of living, thrown in with the poisonous snakes, it's just too dangerous to live anywhere near the coast. Heck, anywhere in Florida for that matter.

Not to mention the BUGS.

You have so much to yet experience in Florida.

We will talk in a year and I'm sure you will have more to add to your list then bugs and snakes.

Ants, ticks, wild boars.....so much fun.

Armadillos, sharks (oh wait... OUR county is the the sharkbite capital of the world, not yours), feral cats, frog infestations after tropical storms... the list goes on.

The other day when I walked the dog, two bald eagles were fighting over the same fish about 20 feet above my head... its like Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom!!!

Listening to you all, I'm starting to believe that I'm better off in the wild west!
:scared1:

We have recently been dipping coral snakes out of the swimming pool, took one away for the Cat...

And do you know what a "cow catcher" is?

Can you say wasps? Killer bees?

and it can be cold here - or at least "chilly". Al R. on the Today show said it was chilly in Fla. We broke records down here.

Oh gee, a U-top with creepie crawlers.
Perfect to wish you an early Halloween.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I killed a rattlesnake all by myself the other day!!

I ran it over with the car about 5 times. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

SCORPIONS? seriously?

My mom came up with a list of about 30 things that are terrible about Florida.

Ok, maybe it was 50 things.

This from a woman who just yesterday told me, "ya know, this is the first fall I've ever experienced where I can't tolerate the cold. Maybe Florida isn't such a bad idea after all. The weather sounds delightful!"

I wanted to remind her about the gators, and snakes, and spiders, and bugs, and property insurance, and old people. :lmao:
