After watching Pirates 3, we went to Saratoga Springs to the Turf Club for dinner.
Two adults.
DDE discount.
No ADRs. Probably 7:30-ish p.m.
The place was pretty busy. We were seated right away and squeezed into a corner table. There is plenty of seating available on the patio area, and with a nice lagoon view. We were seated by a window, so also had a nice view.
Our server was very good. Getting food and drinks was a little on the slow side. But not horrible either. Certainly did not feel rushed through our meal.

Right away DH said we had to return there. He said there was just too much on the menu he wanted to try. I thought their selection very limited. But they do have a good selection to choose from.
We had a table close to us who had just been served their food as we were seated. Their food SMELLED SO GOOD.... And it was not because I was starved. (I had eaten popcorn at the movies. So was not all that hungry.) I almost asked them what they had. Darn it smelled good! Two of the people just had burgers. They were huge.

We both ordered Blackberry Lemonade ($3.99). We almost did not as we thought that a little $teep. But afterwards we both said we were glad we did because the beverages were so yummy.

DH ordered sirloin. It is served with an option of various toppings, for extra. He requested his medium with the crab meat and grain mustard sauce.

I ordered the crab cakes appetizer with a side of Turf Club potatoes.

A few slices of fresh sour dough type bread was provided on a platter. Later we were offered more and took the server up on that. Were given three, that were sliced much more thick than the first two. (Not sure why they initially don't serve much bread. :confused3 Maybe they were throwing too much of it out.)

The food was awhile in coming. But again, not terrible. And they were busy, with some large parties too. (Memorial Day weekend at a large DVC resort. So figures large parties are probably more the norm there.)

Our food LOOKED LUSCIOUS. :cloud9: And it tasted just as good as it looked.

I was surprised to have three crab cakes. The serving of potatoes was as expected. And they were very good. DH was served potatoes with his steak. He said they were the cooked the same as the potatoes he ate at Olivia's a few weekends prior. (He REALLY likes Olivia's potatoes.)
I thought they were pretty good, but on the greasy side.
Crab cakes were very good. And I only ended up eating one, between the potatoes and bread (and previous popcorn). So I have a Very nice lunch waiting for me in the frig! :woohoo: :cool1:

DH LOVED his steak. The steak looked like a really good cut of beef. And it was. But he really raved about the topping. He said it was right up there.
And after he finished eating the only thing left on his plate was a little remnants of the sauce. No bone. No gristle. No fat.

We watched Iron Chef last night and the secret ingredient was Cowboy Steak. (American version of Kobe Beef.) DH said the steak he had at Turf Club was of that caliber, when including the sauce.

I bet it is not too long before we return to the Surf Club.

The tables around us ordered dessert. Even the desserts took as long as getting a regular meal. The length of time to have the food delivered to the table is the only downside I could see. If someone was in a hurry, they might have stewed a little. But it could be it just being a busy holiday weekend too. We were not in a hurry. SO time was not an issue for us.

With the DDE discount, pre-tip, our total was $37.54.

SSR is our DVC home and we love the Turf Club. They really nailed it. The onion rings come with 3 different dipping sauces that are amazing.

We're kind of hoping word doesn't get out about our best kept little secret. It's a great restruarant.

We were at SSR last week, too. We didn't eat at Turf Club, but I did peek in and spent a pleasant few moments chatting with a charming British hostess. What was coming out of the kitchen looked pretty terrific, and we'll sure give it a try if we're looking for a no-fuss meal.

I might add for you SSR fans that it seems Artist's Palette has improved since opening. It never was bad, but I had a speciality flatbread for lunch one day that was darn good, and the rest of my crew smacked their lips and made yummy noises over their meals, too. It's a good bang for your DDP buck, if you're on the plan.

A month or so ago I also toured the AKL Villas displays at SSR. Very, very cool if anyone is inclined to check them out. I also toured a 2100+ sq ft SSR villas. (Sleeps 12; 3 bedrooms/3 bathrooms)

I enjoyed your review. We'll have to give the Turf Club a try.

Aren't the AKV beautiful?

Yes they are great looking. Even down to the sheers behind the curtain! (Animal theme)

I was at WDW May 5th-13th and tried the Turf Club for the first time. I was on the DDP. I was very impressed--had wonderful food and excellent service. I had the blackberry lemonade, clamari, steak with crab meat topping, and hot apple pie with ice cream. All were delicious and service was excellent. I think this may be WDW's new hidden gem.

We ate at the Turf Club on May 7th and I am sorry to say, the server's snotty attitude spoiled what could have been a nice meal...after what transpired, I could not taste my food. It was weird how it developed, but whatever I ordered, however I ordered it, the server criticized me. He is a young guy, perhaps just out of college, but it does not excuse his crappy attitude. For example, DS12 ordered the Angus burger - I said "well-done" please when the server asked how DS wanted it prepared (DS is autistic and was not paying attention). The server turned to me and said "WE have TOP QUALITY meat here so he could order it rare, if he WANTS it that way. Its a SHAME to ruin such GOOD MEAT." I got the same lecture about the Salmon DD10 ordered. She knows her salmon and likes it medium. The server lectured her and me about "RUINING GOOD SALMON by overcooking it" and then stated the bloody obvious "We can always put it BACK IN the oven to cook it longer but can't UNcook it". DH found it quite amusing how this young whippersnapper was treating me, not realizing his tip was in jeopardy. All this time I kept smiling and trying to joke with this guy but apparently he took an immediate dislike to me. I ordered the Prime Rib and got yet another lecture on how it needs to be ordered "RARE". When I ordered an Australian Red wine to go with it, he lectured me yet again on "why are you ordering THAT wine?" DH ordered the steak with crab topping "RARE" which pleased the server and took DH off his bad-guy list.

The server finally disappeared and we never saw him again, until he brought the check. Our food was brought by a different server and the dining room manager took our order for dessert. I still think I should have complained about the server's attitude but DH said I would just come across as "whiny". Hope I do not come across that way in this post!

I may try Turf Club again since we own at SSR, but not for awhile. There are so many better servers across WDW that I don't need to pay to be abused. Funny thing is, the server at the next table seemed so terrific - she even sat at her guests' table and chatted with them. So, yes, I know Turf Club has at least one good server.

He's probably employed at Universal Studios by now! Imagine, lecturing a Bostonian about seafood!
