05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

don't speak English, so practice your "Bonjour"! LOL!

Not to mention my mother is widowed and would be happy to meet other grandparents.

Can I practice my French? I've got a minor in it but haven't had a lot of opportunities to use it in New Mexico! :rotfl2: Good thing I speak Spanish also!.

Our bracelets came today as well and they look really good! Thank you so much for doing this for all of us!

I put together a quick 'n dirty site based on our first page roster and previous FE list (before today's :headache:)

http://pages.suddenlink.net/airtime247/

Please take a look to see if you think it would work for us before I invest any real time into it. Also please make sure the link works to our photo. This is the first time I've tried uploading anything to my new ISP so I don't know if I did it correctly.

The site is not much to look at yet but I just want to see if it's functional and if it's something we may use.

If anyone more artistic than I am (and who isn't?) would like to make it pretty, I can definitely use the help! :wizard: I don't care for the background but it was all I could find that wasn't too loud.

If you want me to post a photo, please email me at AIRTIME247 <at> SUDDENLINK <dot> NET. For other changes or to help fill in the blanks, you can either PM me or post here and I'll update them as they come in.

I'd really like to get everyone's hometowns. This was a fun thing to look at to see who was near us. Maybe I'll scan through the thread if I get some time.

i'll PM you with more info...and send you a pic to your email. :)

This is DH. I may have to get my own signature so as not to confuse people (yes I did steal the Boss's username  )

You sound like my background although you probably speak better than I do. I grew up in ranching and oil, still like to wear boots, and know more Spanish than French.

I used to travel to Europe, especially France, and my first trip started with something like "Bonjour ya'll, donde esta cerveza" :rotfl:

Luckily, the hotel manager was in a good mood and helped me with a few key points. :thumbsup2

I just uploaded the latest changes to the site. If you PM'd or emailed me any info or pictures, they should be on there. Please let me know if I missed anything. Click the small pictures to see the full-size pictures.

I added a link to this thread and the site in my signature. Scott, can we a link to the site on page one as well?

I'll be out of town the next couple of days in case anyone sends me updates or pictures for the site. Again, email pictures to AIRTIME247 <at> SUDDENLINK <dot> NET

Have a great weekend everyone!

It's good to get back to my regularly scheduled posting now!

After reading a few people got their bracelets, I sprinted out to the mailbox but nothing yet. I can't wait to get them. I can't promise I won't sneak mine on a few times a day to get my vacation fix!

We were always late dining folks before our DD was born. I hated feeling rushed to get back from port to eat early.

The reason I really didn't like late dining on the Magic is I felt there weren't very many good options for a quick bite around 3pm other than the "theme park food" on deck 9 which is good but got old after a couple of days. I really wish Topsiders was open later. It was too long to go from lunch to an 8:00 dinner.

We would still do late dining if given the choice. The main reason we are going with main dining is that around 8pm, our carriage turns into a pumpkin and our little princess becomes a villain! ;) It would be too hard to keep her propped up in a restaurant for 1.5 -2 hours that late since she is used to a 7pm bedtime. She would be much better off lounging in a chair while watching a show at night.

The last of our FE goodies got here yesterday. We are going to start putting them together soon. I think we are going to just ship them to port. I also have a couple of other fun little ideas to distribute on the ship.

Oh, how lucky you are to have a child that goes to bed at 7!! Our Dylan does not fall asleep before 9:30-10:00 most nights regardless how hard we try! :headache:

Good idea on the shipping, we may just have to do that for our FE goodies too! I just want to confirm with the new warehouse how many days in advance of the cruise they are willing to accept them- without worry of them getting misplaced! Since it is being run by DCL now I would guess they have some good managing of the boxes in place. I would prefer to give myself several extra days of early delivery to ensure I am not cutting it close with trying to have them arrive by the cut-off day for the Magic sailings.

My daughter is the same way she will not nap and gives us a hard time every night to go to bed. It's war @8:00 and know that's it's daylight saving time she looks out the window and says "but mommy it's still a beautiful day " LOL

When we went to WDW for her 2nd b-day she beat disney. I thought she would be wipped out i was wrong she was still going til midnight until we got back to our hotel....

Can't wait til May:banana:

That is a main reason we have always done late seating, regardless of the age of our kids. We find ourselves never hungry while on the cruise with all the options between breakfast/lunch/deck 9/room service.

We also like that we don’t feel that we are having to wrap up our "sun" time maybe as early in a rush to get ready for early dinner .

That’s just us though and I see both sides to the never-ending discussion of early vs. late seating.

I agree:) We love the late seating!

We finally got a have decent rate to fly! It took us awhile but we got er done. I am sure that the rates will drop between now and the trip, but we were getting alittle nervous with 10 of us flying, we all wanted to get on the same flight.

Now we have tha task of finding a hotel at the port and a car rental. Any ideas? Suggestions?

For those of you staying at the port, where are you staying and where did you book?

For those you who are renting cars, where did you book?

Congrats on finding the airfare you wanted!

We are not staying by port this time but have several times before. Our favorite place is Ron Jon resort. Our second favorite was where we stayed last time, Country Inn & Suites.

Ron Jon has nice rooms, awesome pool area and indoor play area and beach. I think they have up to three-bedroom units if you wanted to fill a room with your party, or most of it.

Country Inn & Suites is newer and we had a family suite that was nice. It had a bed or two in the main area and then another area that had bunkbeds and a twin bed and its own tv. The pool wasnt huge but nice. They have wonderful fresh chocolate chip cookies at the check in desk. They also had a tasty free breakfast in the morning.

Many DISers (some from our sailing I think) also stay at the Radisson and for the most part I dont read complaints about it and people seem to be very happy with their stays there. We plan to stay there on some future cruise to give it a try.

There also another handful of hotels near port that I see talked about on the boards a good bit too, but I cant recall which ones.

The choices.... the choices!:confused3

I'm looking foward to others replies too, as we are always looking into new hotels for our trips!

Very Happy to hear the bracelets are arriving and everyone is pleased!

Come on May... get on over here!!:yay:

Congrats on the air fare! We are staying at the Raddison at the Port. The cost for one night, free parking for 7 days, breakfast the morning of the cruise and shuttle service to the port came to 159.00 w/ taxes! we also booked one way car rentals we will pick up the car at MCO on the 8th and drop it off at the port the same day after dinner. We paid 59.00 w/ taxes. For the way home we are using the same company (budget) and they will pick us up at the ship and we will drop the car off at MCO for 79.00. After looking around at all the different car companies, DCL transfer, and car service we found this to be the best deal for our money. Same goes for the room I did a lot of looking at different hotels and this by for was the best price.

We have finally decided that my grandmother is going to fly into MCO the night before the cruise as well! We just thought that it would be so much less stressful for her! I was able to get a room at all star music for really cheap with our annual pass discount. We will drive up and stay with her that night! Our little Toy Rat Terrier will be enjoying a nice vacation at the Best Friends kennel on property! She stays there all the time and they know her by name and they love her! I was hoping a friend would keep her, but they all have plans that week too! Oh well she will get a Disney vacation of her own! My grandmother still wants to keep waiting to buy her plane tickets! Is it bad that makes me nervous! I am all about having it all planned ahead! Oh well hopefully she will get hers soon! I guess since we live so close I have to stress about someone elses tickets!
