05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

Last year our meet thread decided on using the lime green logo colour of the Dis boards.and we all had inexpensive plastic bracelets, as in the charity ones.
We had great fun at the terminal searching out people with lime green wrist bands. Just an idea?

we usually take the cruise line bus from our hotel or airport, my husband thinks it part of the magic:rolleyes: What's your opinion on that verses getting private transportation? I know they charge apx.$40 for a case of water on the ship, what do you normally pay when you stop and pick up in Port Canaveral?

That sounds fun, A great way to find each other:wave2: we will be arriving around 10:30 as well.

I've been a bit slammed lately, but my family and I are definitely interested in meeting up AND doing Fish Extenders. Just need to know where to meet and who is involved with the FEs...(and really HOW to do the FEs too since we've never been on a Disney cruise.)

Since I'm going to do my darndest to get on the 12 Metre Regatta when my window opens on 2/23, I'm pretty guaranteed meeting up w/Scottie already. (yeah, buddy.)

Is there any way to confirm if AP doesn't do the show on formal night at all? That would be an ideal night for Palo, I agree. (Especially since it's also the week of my wedding anniversary!)
:thumbsup2

Hmmm... wristbands dont sound like a bad idea! I did some quick searching and ran across http://24hourwristbands.com/ looks like we could order a bunch from them for under $2.00 per lime green bracelet and they will even imprint "DIS" on them for us or something else if we want. If enough people have paypal we could just have one person order and the remainder could shoot over their couple of $$ payment for bracelet(s) and stamp via paypal to the person who places the order. They appear to have adult and kids sizes in case any kids want to wear one too.
Guess we could also consider a green ribbon too.

Still keeping fingers crossed one FE educated person from our sailing will post a nice long message with all the in/outs, ups/downs and what have you for us who are new to the FE lifestyle:goodvibes

12 Meter Regatta it is! Maybe I will schedule my MIL in for a spot on it too and cancel hert out right before your bookings open so we can have better hope for a spot for you?!? :confused3
And the invitation is opened to any other fellow DISers who would like to join us on the 12 Meter Regatta cruising the waves and hopefully not hurting each other!

We do have a 3 year old in common too, so even a better chance we will see each other long before the excursion... like chasing them thru the terminal as they sprint for the drinking fountain and then a view of the ship, followed by a character visit and a bathroom break or two or three!

I am curious on that formal night question too, since that trip report that was talked about seems to make one think if you are scheduled for AP for your first time on formal night there would not be a show that in there that night.
I shot an email off to DCL just now to see if they may be able to advise what the current deal with that is- which of course is always subject to change before we sail! :upsidedow
I will post the response when I hear back!

Hi
have been busy past few months, so have some catching up to do! Will be reading past posts and absorbing all info
Are there any more UK cruisers?
Just wanted to check, have I got it correct? for UK cruisers, our 90 day booking window is 5am this Sunday...8th Feb...have i worked that correct?
Would hate to get up that early on a Sunday for no good reason lol!
Thanks! hope to meet some of yous soon
Lyn and Bob

Welcome Aboard! :wave2:
If there are not different rules for UK travelers then I would say 12:01AM ET (adjust for your time difference of course) on the 8th you can book as a past DCL guest.

Cost of water at Port Canaveral grocery store was similar to local grocery store at home, so maybe between $3 and $6 per case or so for the store brand?
The bus is a fun and works out nicely, but we prefer the flexibility on arrival/departure time and a stop of the grocery store so we are going with a private transport. Plus with six of us the cost is less then DCL bus.

Thanks, Scott. Let me know what you hear. LOL - I can only hope that my kids all remember to TAKE a potty break what with all the excitement of going on "Mickey's Big Boat." Trained or not, I...WHOOPS, I mean...THEY might easily forget to run anywhere for a nature break!:rolleyes1

I will be there with my newly turned 3 yr. old DS -- glad to see he will have company!! :cheer2: Right now I am anxiously (or should I say frantically) trying to potty train.... I booked Flounders along with my Palo dinner and brunch reservations, but want to keep my options open with the Oceaneers Club ... wish me luck... I need a little "magic" at this point pixiedust:

I think the count that I have seen so far is about 8 or 9 kids in our DIS group that will be in the 3-4 year old age bracket for the club... so lots of little friends!

Heres wishing you luck on the potty training! Hopefully you will indeed have some magic your way! pixiedust:
Great idea on booking Flounders time in too, I may consider doing that for our Palo night just in case Dylan isnt into the club groove yet on the second night... which is the first night he can be in there without parents.

Yeah we cant decide what to do. We will have 8 in our party. We are bringing my brother and sister in-law and their son.

does anyone have any suggestions on transportation besides the cruise busses?:confused3
I'm ordering our FE tomorrow!! my kids are already talking about what we should bring:scratchin I'm so excited! I'm ready to hang out and party in the sun :beach: with a great group of new friends!

I don't know much about the FE, just what are neighbor (on the ship) told me. I was hopping to get a little more info. myself. I know you can order the FE on Ebay, just search "Disney fish extenders" A lady on there makes them and you can have one custom made as well. They cost around $30 ( I think depending on the size) they are really cute! I think each family that wants to participate will at some point on the cruise (once) leave a treat/surprise in everyones FE. for example on or last cruise we would be walking down a hall and you see a family running around handing out their treat. I did see they had a list of the names and rooms!

Hmmm... with 8 people you would have to go with a van or a stretch limo type vehicle I guess if you used private transfers. Not sure if you would run into any issues with luggage for 8 people in a vehicle vs. the bus? If you want to get an idea on prices, you could check out Happylimo.com or Tiffanytowncar.com since they both have rate charts.

I see a lot of questions about the Fish Extender. I did this on our last cruise, albeit with a much smaller number of DISers on board.

There is no rule on what it can or cannot be. I put together some little packs for the kids on the list that included some Christmas candy, small toys/games (Wal-mart had lots of stocking stuffer things that worked well for this) a pencil, etc. On the first night of the cruise we gave everyone a post card from Fort Worth (where we are from) with a note saying welcome aboard from Yensid1222 et. al. and we added a highlighter to use with your Navigator planning. Then, on the last night we gave some little Texas themed gifts. I only did two rounds of thing-ys...but it was only a 3 day cruise. I imagine with the 7 day, there is much more opportunity.

We got some neat stuff from around the world. Our British friends got some unique stuff from the other side of the pond. One family took the time make a great "kitchen" themed item...there are lots of things you can come up with. I think it is especially neat to give (and receive) things from your local area (at least for the adults). I find getting stuff for the kids pretty easy!

Anyway, that was my experience in December on the Wonder.

Ok Gang, I got an email reply from DCL this AM in regards to Animators on Formal night. Appears no light show going on during Formal night:

I am happy to assist you with information regarding Animator's Palate.

You are correct that there is no light show on the themed nights.
However, you will always have one night at Animator's Palate that there is no theme. On that night, you will have the light show.

Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual" -- no shorts, swimwear or tank tops; jeans, khakis and capris are permitted. Most cruises also have special theme nights. Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject to change:

On 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises:
*Nights 1, 3, 5, & 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress
*Night 4: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or your best pirate outfit!
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!
Have a Magical Day!

YES, the luggage was are concern as well! Thanks for the names. I'll check them out:)

Thank you Scottie for getting that info from DCL!!! That was a huge concern and great cause of confusion for me. Happy that I booked Palo on night 2 (formal night) and that we won't miss the show at AP :thumbsup2
