05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

and advised that Disney had released FL res rates for the 5/9 Eastern cruise. We were refunded over $2K for our two Cat 8 rooms! Woo hoo! Of course, we immediately upgraded ourselves to balcony rooms since the money was already spent. We did lose the 10% on board booking and Disney Stateroom credits, but still ended up getting $740 back even after upgrading.

Thanks for posting this!! I just emailed our agent to see if it would benifit us for my MILs room... as long as we can keep the room we have booked. :goodvibes

Rominet, did I mention you ROCK!?! I am working with our agent now to flip MILs room over to the FL rate and to have the extra money applied to our shipboard account. After all is said and done we loose the 10% rate savings and a $200 onboard credit for her room, but gain alomst $600 in onboard credit. DW and MIL already said Spa time for them!

DisneyMommy1022 - just wondering if we have a final count for the FE? The last update stated 20 rooms, but I only counted 19. Just wanted to double check.

Well I wasnt sure if it could be done but thought it was worth a shot and we have a TA that will go to bat for us so I shot her an email this AM. She called DCL and had to go thru a couple of supervisors but got it done:thumbsup2
We now have extra spending $$ for onboard- which is NEVER a bad thing! At least I wont have to go into sticker shock this cruise when I see the final bill onboard!!:scared1:
I wish you luck with getting your credit flipped to an onboard credit!:)

However, during the whole process DCL magically lost our $50 per room castaway club credit we had from booking way back in 12/07. Our agent is now fighting with them to give it back, at least for the non-FL resident room! DCL claims it was never there?!?:sad2:

on the May 9th cruise. I would like to sign up for the Fish Extender list. Our information is:

Rominet
Valerie and Christophe
Max 5, Sophie 3, Gabe 3
7582

Okay, now a question. My mother (grandma) and in-laws (grandparents, BIL family of 3, SIL with family of 4 are also coming.

Grandma and the in-laws are not part of Disboards. Can I still sign them up if they will provide gifts? My mom is computer challenged and the inlaws are all French and don't frequent English speaking boards. However, I know their children would love to be a part of the surprises! Let me know if it is bad manners!

Hi all, haven't been on in awhile cause silly ol me fell on ice & broke my foot & was hospitalized for 9 days , yes yuk.
But thats ok thats behind me now & will get even better if they at least give me a walking cast on the 12th. when I go back.So for now I'll just go hopping along on 1 foot & my walker. Oh well I'll be prepared for Easter with the hopping bit. lol The gr.kids think its funny. It just all better be gone before I go away.First time I ever broke a bone & I sure did a good job this time.
Enough about me Scottie I think the bracelets went over quite well by the look of the list. That is wonderful. Like you said all we'll be seeing is green. SUPER. Can't wait
Still trying to get flights at a decent cost tho. Dollysmom ( my daughter) checks every day & so keep your fingers crossed for us . We need 9 seats so I can't wait to much longer.
I sooo enjoy reading the Dis board so keep up the good work everyone.

Welcome back... and sorry to hear about your fight with the ice... hope you heal soon, easter bunny!:goodvibes

Yes, the bracelets were much bigger of a hit then I first thought. They should arrive in the next couple of days and I will try to post a photo of them for all to see.

9 seats...you may just want to hire your own plane to clear that up!;)

Hi,

Sorry I don't know what MIL is? but looks like it you guys benefited. Is this something we can all look into?

Thanks.
Can't wait for May 9th. Enough of this cold and snow already!

MIL is short for mother-in-law. The special is valid for Florida Residents only. It is a huge savings but requires you to be hanging out full time in the state that should be known as Disney instead of Florida. ;)

Hey gang, just checking in. I can't believe that just two months from today, our family will be having our first morning in the parks!

The packing anxiety is already starting, especially since our luggage restrictions have increased. We always overpack as the idea of doing laundry on vacation is never appealing.

Would one of you mind PM'ing my wife and telling her she can only pack three pairs of shoes? :headache:

I have a question for those of you who had little ones on previous cruises. Do they have planned, structured activities for Oceaneer's Club-aged kids (3-4) at Castaway Cay? We would like to spend the bulk of that day at the family beach but would like to check her in for a couple of hours if there is something fun going on she wouldn't want to miss. During that time, mommy and I could suffer out at the adult beach with a couple of Conch Coolers. pirate:

I know your packing pain!!

Yep, we checked Morgan into Scuttles Cove a few years back when she was in the 3-4 year range so we could explore the island for a bit. Here is a link to a recent navigator that shows a listing of activities mainly at scuttles cove on the beach for CC day

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to deal with return postage for the bracelet mailings??

I am thinking of asking that each group who placed an order mail me a self addressed stamped envelope (of your choice) to return the bracelets in… if that is not too much trouble. I’m just not sure how we should calculate the right amount of postage to affix to the envelope that is being used to send the bracelets back?

I believe the order of 118 bracelets weighs 2 pounds with box, so I would venture a guess a couple of stamps on the return envelope should take care of it for a few bracelets, depending on the size/weight of the particular envelope and assuming it is being mailed within the US?

I look forward to any/all ideas on this so we can be sure everyone gets their bracelets by the end of March.:goodvibes

I'll chech with my MIL who use to work at the post office (in Canada), and she can give me a rough idea of a cost to send a couple of bracelets. I'll let everyone know.

We have a cabin change; my DW (vtinkerbell) and I are now in cabin 7626. As soon as you guess what the cost would be to mail two bracelets, I'll send a self addressed, stamped envelope to you.

What if we enclose a self-addressed envelope and a dollar or two to cover postage? That way you could just take the whole bunch to the post office and have them weigh and meter them.

And if you made 20 or 30 cents, we could call it a tip for all the trouble of organizing things. ;)

If this sounds like even more trouble than stamps, I am fine with that also.

So it seems that the more mature I become, the earlier I wake up in the morning. Things become worse when there is something interesting happening, say the first day of a Disney Cruise.

I have heard of other groups of cruisers getting up early and watching the Magic coming back into port Saturday morning. :boat: Is anyone interested in gathering a group for this?

J.P.

Sounds great to me and I don't see a problem providing scottie a tip for doing a fabulous job with these bracelets! :thumbsup2 But will do stamps too if that will work better.
