04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Ok, this might be a dumb question but....:confused3
what port in LA do we leave from?
we were going to drive to Long Beach for the night but now the flight is so cheap, we will fly to LAX.
Just trying to figure out car rental thing for one night down there.
Do we leave from San Pedro or by the Queen Mary?

Being that this is a "special" cruise, will there be a RSP? This is our first cruise that is not a normal itinerary. I hope they'll have special pins and what not for the cruise.

San Pedro and there is NO WHERE close to drop a rental. Budget has an office in a hotel nearby, if you search on Budget in this thread you might find the information. The cruise port area is not anywhere near as passenger friendly as PC.

Thanks for the fast answer...
I thought it was still San Pedro but when I called our hotel they said different...
thanks again.....

No documents in Michigan today. It sort of makes me wonder (no pun intended) if Disney sends out documents to the foreign guests first knowing the mail might take longer?
I'm not in any hurry as I'm sure we will have them before we go. Like all the rest of you, I just like getting mail from Mickey! ::MickeyMo

Mine showed up here in Vancouver, Canada via Fedex. Are cruise documents within the US sent via regular mail? That could be the difference?

Wonders be! My Alaska cruise documents just arrived here in Ontario Canada. They were delivered by FedEx. No sign of the repo documents yet.

I live a couple of miles from where they actually send the docs and I don't have any yet either... so don't worry... plenty of time. ;)

Cayla I would love to pin trade... but at this stage I can't afford the luggage weight that my traders would require. :rotfl:Or the extra suitcase.... :lmao:I don't have any Pooh anyway.. I've tried to limit my collecting now to mostly Sorcerer Mickey, DCL pins and Evil Queen. Hello, my name is Leslie and I am a recovering Pin Addict..... :scared1:
PS: I still need your packing list.. I think I PM'd you??

I don't see why DCL can't do the pre-order merchandise thing like the marathon does... in your registration (or online check in...) you check off what you want and prepay.. and it's there waiting for you in your stateroom or you can pick it up in the shops any time during your cruise. Is that so hard to figure out?? aaaarrrgghhhh! Don't even get me started. :sad2: The RSP worked for the Dream Maiden, at least with the stuff they put ON it... (not everything, who knows why...) but that gets Special Events involved and they have their own whole set of issues... OK, stepping down from soapbox...

I am wondering if they mail out of the country first and then according to what level castaway club you are. We are gold and got ours yesterday,:confused3

I received my Alaska cruise documents this afternoon too :cool1::cool1:

I'm in Ontario too, but I received the repo docs on Monday :confused3

We lived in Jacson almost 30 years, nice place to visit but not much fun to live there any more. We now live in Cheyenne, other side of the state on the plains, much nicer place to live!

Very cool! :goodvibes

Got our luggage tags today here in MI! :yay: Hoping to get the Alaska ones soon, then more sitting back and waiting IMPATIENTLY for vacation to start! :woohoo: Well, actually, waiting until the night before we leave because that's when we'll pack. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!:dance3:

I just noticed while doing my online check in that DCL now requires you to select a port arrival check in time. We will be arriving earlier than the times available online. Does anyone know how strict this is? Our flight into Long Beach arrives at 10:30, so we don't want to have to wander around until 2:30 to be able to come inside at the port - our twins will need to get on board and eat lunch.

Who are you flying into Long Beach with? I was looking at flights today, instead of driving down. Are you leaving from SAC?
We are flying the day before and spending the night in Long Beach.

So glad you can make the cruise and can't wait to see the girls....

Denise, we are flying JetBlue from SMF to Long Beach - $64 per person one way! :cool1: We thought about flying in the night before, but then we have to deal with hotel and cribs, etc. The first night in a new environment is often difficult with 23 month olds, so we thought it best to just have the 1st night on the cruise be the difficult one instead of back to back hard nights. We are really hoping that with Leiana's needs, that the port allows us to come aboard earlier than 2:30.

I have seen posts on the main board stating that Disney doesn't keep people out of the port if they show up early, but other posts have said that if you show up early you get a boarding number in line with your appointment time instead of your arrival time.

Thanks for the info. Traveling with a special needs baby sure does require more flexiblity on our part than we've ever had to do with past travel. For instance, we got late appointment time because we booked late, of course we booked late because we had no choice due to waits beyond our control for adoption finalization (because of Lei's extensive medical history), and then having to get approval to travel from all her doctors (who of course want to wait to see her current condition prior to giving approval). YIKES! Puts organized control freaks like me NUTS :headache: Wow, it takes a LOT for me to let go of my control issues. :upsidedow

Joining in the cruise document dance!!! :cool1:

According to our docs, the transfer from the Disneyland Hotel to the Wonder leaves at 12pm, which is great, since we wanted some more park time that morning. Paradise Pier pickup is 12:10 and GCH is 12:20. I know there is a bus organized by a cruiser that is leaving earlier, but we didn't want to leave early, so these times really work out great for us.

We'll be joining you on the bus from the Disneyland Hotel...we too are going to visit Disneyland...and maybe California Adventure before we are picked up....
