04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

:surfweb:
Great pictures - especially the one of the Golden Gate in the clouds!

Hi Lynn! Having gone to SF State I have to mention that those aren't really clouds surrounding the Golden Gate, as Carl Sandberg said, "the fog comes in on little cats feet!" It is really a special part of San Francisco!! Looking forward to meeting you soon, Ron and Karen

Hi Everyone

This is the list for free custom lanyards and name badges for everyone
in your cruise group. Please take a close look at your listing and PM
me if I've made a spelling error, left someone off, wrong cruise, or if you are no longer
going on one of these cruises. Please PM me if you would rather have a different
version of your name on the badge (nickname, etc.).

PLEASE REVIEW YOUR LISTING AND PM ME IF IT IS CORRECT!
A * before your listing means your have verified the names and you are good to go.

It's very important that I hear from people on the "not confirmed" list.
I don't want to leave anyone out and I want to make sure that the names are correct!
So if you are on the "not confirmed" part of the list, please let me know if the listing is correct.

Thanks for your help with the list!

Prom
Release Date: April 29, 2011
Studio: Walt Disney Pictures
Director: Joe Nussbaum
Screenwriter: Katie Wech
Starring: Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang, Kylie Bunbury, Nicholas Braun, Jared Kusnitz, Jonathan Keltz, De’Vaughn Nixon, Nolan Sotillo, Cameron Monaghan*, Joe Adler, Janelle Ortiz, Raini Rodriguez

Plot Summary: At "Prom," every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; "Prom" portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it's a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De'Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school's most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there's only one "Prom."

We just flew over SF on an extensive "air tour" while waiting to land there on a layover. It was a beautiful day, and we flew low over GG bridge. The bridge and the coastline are so beautiful! We got so excited for our upcoming visit!:woohoo:

Just spotted that the stateroom list you're maintaining shows that Skallywag is registered against 7074 - that's the stateroom we've been booked into for the repo - I've just gone into the DCL website and checked that this is still allocated against our ressie.

Something wrong somewhere  - and it isn't us.

Don't worry, on one cruise, we were assigned a cabin that another DISer thought they had. We decided the more the merrier, and they dubbed our cabin the party cabin, or the DIS lounge. We had alot of fun joking about people sleeping in the closet, and under the bed - extra pillows, etc. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

This is so funny one time my husband was picking me up at the airport and was talking to someone in the waiting area so you know it was a long time ago! Any way the man said he could not believe that the fire had been allowed to go on in those hills for the week he had been there!:confused3 DH had to explain it was fog!:lmao:

Just to let everyone know, in reply to THIS message, we had an e-mail response which was directing us to a porn site and saying that they looked forward to meeting up!!! Anything you want to share with us???

We're planning to head home on the 3rd and we'd like to go from SEA-TAC as it's a lot cheaper than from Vancouver. Does anyone have any advice on how to get to SEA-TAC from the Port of Vancouver? I'm thinking a late flight out, around 7:00 or 9:00 would be doable. There's a shuttle that looks promising, and even with the shuttle and the flight from Seattle, it's still cheaper than flying out of Vancouver, though it does add almost a complete day of traveling instead of a couple hours.

Also, several airlines have great fares from SEA-TAC today only for Cyber Monday. $69 one way to LAX on Virgin, Alaska or United. Cheapest I've seen otherwise is $125.

I was so excited to get an email from DCL today advertising their shore excursions for the Repo. Except when I clicked on the link for videos and more details, it brought me to the same old shore excursion page with nothing actually new for our cruise. Why send an email about booking shore excursions that aren't actually up to even look at yet? Am I missing something? Seems like about the right time for these to come out with platinum members being able to book 120 days out. That would only give them about a month to consider their options. Come on, DCL! I'm really jonesing to know what excursions will be available!

ME TOO! What a flippin' tease!

same email....and then it says come back 120 days before cruise date...darn, I wanted to see what they offer.
But really we live only a couple hours from SF and go all the time. My DH was born and raised there so we will do things on our own. Unless of course they have something really special that can't be done on our own.

Still figuring out airfare back from Vancouver to Sacramento....or should we stay a couple days in Seattle?

How nice for you to have somebody in Bellingham on your cruise! Unfortunately our car will be too full to bring you back across the border with you.

I know two easy options for you:
Quick Coach
Amtrak
You can compare fares. And if you haven't already booked your flight, be sure to also consider flights from Bellingham through Seattle to LAX. Quick Coach charges about $30 more to go to Seattle than Bellingham, and I have often seen advanced airfares from Bellingham less than $30 more than Seattle. On occasion I have even gotten lower fares from Bellingham than Seattle!

We got the tease also I mean why are they doing this when there is no information! Sue

I got excited too! And what about the rumor of Adventures By Disney doing the Alaska cruises?

We have had a rough 3 months and even this cruise is in the balance. The plans are that we are going ahead with this cruise and Alaska (positive thinking!) but there is always a possibility that we would have to cancel.

Where are those excursions!!

Debbie

Hi Everyone! :wizard:
I just got off the Wonder yesterday... last minute Thanksgiving cruise with my DH. Anyway.. talked to Christiaan onboard. He said during the Platinum reception that they sent him up to AK to check out the Port Adventure vendors etc. So I caught him after the reception and asked a few questions.... He said there will be some amazing adventures! I asked him when we would get to SEE them, since we don't want to have to plan a day before booking and our booking window was in late December/January! He said they were being finalized now and would be released "soon" Got that email today and was very excited... then couldn't find anything on the website! Sheesh!
Did have a real neat experience, since the TG cruise week was flipped, the Wonder was on a sea day on Friday.. and the Magic was at Castaway Cay. We did two different "drive by's" of Castaway Cay and had a "horn war" with the Magic. Quite kewl! :thumbsup2

Actual copy of email I sent to DCL yesterday:

Dear Mickey,
I want to thank you for the email today... but I'm not happy about it.
It started out with a big header 'Add Even More Magic. Explore Your Port
Adventure.' I got all excited. What type of port adventures will there
be? What will I choose? So I clicked on the link... and NOTHING. No
port adventures for San Francisco OR Victoria were to be found. The
email was just a big giant tease. Perhaps Goofy sent the email!
Perhaps some stupid automated computer sent the email not knowing there
were no port adventures arranged for this unusual repositioning cruise.
Perhaps Donald Duck is messing with you.
I'd sure appreciate it if you'd send me a note when you really do have
some port adventures arrange for my cruise.
Thanks!
Laura Coombs

Actual reply from DCL today:

11/30/10

Dear Laura,

Thank you for choosing a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I regret the disappointment you expressed about the e-mail you received.

At this time, we are still working on the magical port adventure experiences that will be offered on your cruise. Please continue to check our website for the most up-to date information.

Once we have finalized the port adventures, you will be able to view these by going online at www.disneycruise.com and hover over Cruises & Destinations, select Port Adventures, and then select location.

Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding your cruise.

We look forward to sailing with you!

Sincerely,

JD
Reservations Department
Disney Cruise Line

You think they could have come up with something a little more original.... We are so sorry we stupidly sent this email out... it's not our fault... Stitch messed with the computer!

I'm glad you let DCL know that email was stupidly timed. What would have been nice is one that said something like, hey, we're still planning this stuff, but here's a quick preview of what's to come and then maybe a video with some shots of the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. How tough would that be? Instead of book your non-existent excursions!

Blaming Stitch would have at least shown a sense of humor about the whole thing, which I think your email certainly did. Bah Humbug, DCL. All I want for Christmas is my shore excursion list!
