04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Our cruise is 198 days away and it will be here before you know it. We were on the transatlantic in april this year and we meet alot of great people through the boards. I was wondering if there is any interest in FE gift giving or maybe a secret mickey exchange. Lastly, we are a party of 3 and would love to sit with others at dinner (Late seating). This will be our second time on the wonder so we don't have preference on server unless our server from the Magic gets assignment on the Wonder. So if there is any interest in dining with our table (PM) us and we will make this request and have our reservations linked together.:dance3:

Hi Guys! I'm following up on the possibility of FEs and will post as soon as I hear back. I hope to get your info added to the roster and passed along to Bob for the main roster. :wizard:

Hi everyone!
Popping in to say hi!

Hi!
I just noticed we're listed as main. I don't know if I told you that information erroneously or if it was changed later. I can't remember. But we're on late dining.
thanks for doing this!

Wait- send pictures to where?

Here you go...

If you would like a photo-link on the roster, you can send a link to the picture to us or e-mail the picture to us at DCLAlaskaCruise@aol.com. The photo will be stored on photo bucket.

Well, I guess it's official now, I've just booked our flights
flying on april 21st Brussel>Atlanta>Lax
Hopefully the kids sleep during the Atlanta>lax flight and they can stay up after. Arriving in LA around 630pm
Planning on 3 parkdays friday, monday, tuesday avoiding the (easter) weekend.
Either sat or sun a tour of LA and an off day to swim and/or shop.

My guess is the stores will be closed on Easter sunday?

Flying home on sat may7 YVR>AMS direct flight:woohoo:

I actually had to book it in combination with a train ticket from AMS back to Brussels, hopefully we can skip it, or we'll just get off in Rotterdam.
Saved us €750 if we took AMS>LAX direct flight.

Thanks for posting Georgie.......like she says, just PM me. I won't have any time to think about when, what or cost involved until after the Dream Inaugural Cruise and then I'll get working on it. I already have the idea in my head and am working up a sample, but got side tracked with the inaugural cruise.........

After January, you will see me around here more often since that will be my next cruise in the que!

:rotfl:

I just booked my flight from Orlando to LAX on the 26th!! Still trying to decide what my body will prefer on the return....either red-eye on the 11th (sleep the 12th, work the 13th) or super early flight on the 12th (get in about 6pm, sleep, work the 13th). Decisions, decisions :)

Happy Friday, and Happy Weekend Everyone!

I think all of the activity this week is over on the Inaugural thread!

Hi everyone ... been busy lately with the Dream cruise, but wanted to let you all know that I am still looking into a bus. I have 25 people so far, so I could use a bit more. Some of you asked about multiple pickup points. The bus company said they could do it if it were close and didn't cost more time, otherwise, it will cost $100 per pickup. Can everyone make it to one Disney hotel? Any suggestions. I haven't booked yet, but am probably staying at Grand Californian.

Just got back from the west bound transatlantic cruise and 8 days at the Beach Club Villas and all the food at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival -- and I did not gain any weight!! All the walking did the trick. By the way I highly recommend the Grand Marnier tasting. It was well worth the money.

Looking forward to ideas for visiting Vancouver and also what is the cheapest way to fly back to the US either Vancouver or Seattle. If Seattle, the best way to get to Seattle.

HI Everyone!
I've been MIA for a while.. (yeah Bob.. I'm BACK! :scared1:)
Finally got some plans locked down for this cruise! :cheer2:
Flying out to LAX 4/23, 4 nights at VGC, got flights back from Seattle after the AK portion... now just have to lock down a couple nights in Vancouver to sightsee after the cruise and the train from Vancouver to Seattle and a night at the Sea-Tac airport so we can fly out 5/13. It's coming together slowly but surely. :thumbsup2
Next phase is excursions. Not sure I want to wait around for DCL to get their stuff together on that. Website says check back 120 days before your cruise for info on excursions.. Uh.. us platinum people can BOOK 120 days out so what's up with that??? Think I'll check out Shore Trips and book what I want. Can't imagine DCL having anything too much different and can always cancel if it's that far out.
I'm in for the bus from DL to the port... I think Georgie signed us up before but just in case... ;) Doing something on our own has to be less expensive than Disney. Even if we reserve a bunch of 15 passenger vans.

Ok, done catching up and rambling.... :rolleyes1 Time to find some dinner... :)

Good Morning.
I have been trying to make changes to the ROSTER.
Please check your info and get back with me for any changes.

I am sorry that I have not kept this up to date.
Life gets in the way sometimes.

Thanks for your work on this. I remember sending a PM a while back for us, but just wanted to be sure. Georgie and Joe. To keep the cost down... and time, consolidating at one hotel would be great... or as Leslie said... several 15 passenger vans.

I know that Disney has various pick up points for their transfers should folks choose that way.

We need all the $ we can get for those excursions! :rotfl2:

We are flying in to LAX on 4/23 staying at the GC. After the cruise we will be in Vancouver until late afternoon when we take the Cascades Train (Amtrack) to Seattle... stay overnight and then flyout the next morning. Then WORK the next day! :scared1:

thanks for the suggestion of the Cascades Train. Don't know what to do...:confused3 the train to Seattle or the Quick Shuttle. The train only has 2 a day. One at 645AM and one in the evening at 545 PM that gets you in Seattle after 10pm. The 645am is SO EARLY....but the other gets in so late to Seattle....

Really have to start making reservations...

If you are hoping to use DVC points, GC is booked up ... the other two are near cpacity (as I am told).

We are staying at Paradise Pier ... we can walk to the pick-up point. Since everything is so close, perhaps it's likely best to have a single pick-up point, unless there is something I am over-looking.

Yes! Two choices which require the stay of an additional day. But, Joe and I thought riding the train would be nice, although rushed for us. Due to work, we have to get back as soon as we can after the cruise. We would have rather stayed and explored new places with friends...

Good Luck with your decisions.

:umbrella:When it rains it pours... :umbrella:

Many of you know all of the things surrounding our household these next few weeks.

This morning Joe and I needed to take both cars into work. When I arrived, the phone on my desk was ringing. It was Joe... the PT cruiser wouldn't start! :rotfl2: He is now at home waiting for AAA to come and jump or tow it to the local service station. :goodvibes

On the bright side, he could have been calling that there was a real disaster!

We will both be so glad when Joe gets off crutches, and all of the parents make it through their upcoming medical events!!! :cheer2:

In the mean time, LIFE goes forward. ;)

Our family will be at the Disneyland Hotel, but can make it to a different Disney hotel for pick-up, I suppose. We will have my 5 year old with us, so need a larger bus that won't require a carseat for her (so, not a van). If that messes things up, we'll just do the DCL transport.
