04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

I hear you about flights out of Vancouver! That's why I always fly out of Buffalo when I go to Florida! My concern about flying out of Seattle is that I don't know what would happen to my customs allotment. Although I've been away for 2 weeks, I will only have been in the states for 1 day if I cross into Seattle for the flight home. Will this cause me to have to pay duty on my gifts??? Any other Canadians out there have an answer? (Hope this makes sense)

I too wondered about this and because I was unsure, I decided to book flights out of/into Toronto. You could always contact the Canada Border Services Agency to get the "correct" answer.

Edited to add....

I checked the CBSA website and couldn't find the answer but I did find a phone number for inquiries....here's the info...

For more information, within Canada call the Border Information Service at 1-800-461-9999. From outside Canada, call 204-983-3500 or 506-636-5064 (long distance charges will apply). Agents are available Monday to Friday during office hours (08:00 to 16:00 local time / except holidays). TTY (for those with hearing or speech impairments) is also available within Canada at 1-866-335-3237.

You may obtain further information by consulting the publications (Guides and Brochures) available on the CBSA Web site at www.cbsa.gc.ca.

Hi everyone ...it's been awhile. Planning for the Baltic took all my time. My dinner mates on the Baltic cruise are from the San Fran area and they recommended seeing the Beach Blanket Babylon show. I checked into it, but you must be 21 to go to an evening show and Kirstyn will be 3 months shy of her 21st birthday. :sad1: Oh well. They said they would meet us at the port and take us on a private San Francisco tour. That will be nice!!!!

i just checked out the beach blanket babylon show online. it looks pretty good. i might have to go.

The cruise is not full, early dining is full. I've been booking this cruise as recently as a couple days ago without a problem finding a room. I agree though that early dining should open up as we get closer.

So Tracy, are you joining us on this cruise?

Good afternoon fellow cruisers.
Just booked our flights from the UK (before they get too expensive).
We are doing a couple of days at Disney before the cruise then two/three nights in Vancouver then three/four nights in New York on the way home.
Does anyone know the best way to get from Vancouver to New York? I see some one mentioned getting to Seattle first - would this be the way? Also do you think we need two or three nights in Vancouver? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Julie

Good Morning Cruisers!
Happy 4th of July to all!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I did call and check. They said that I should box the souvenirs, and after I clear customs, have the customs agent seal the box with Customs tape. This way the customs agent in Buffalo will know that it has already cleared. After I hung up, I checked out Canada Post, and I think I'm just going to pick up some Canada Post mailing boxes and mail the souvenirs home. I think this will be cheaper in the long run, and I won't have to worry about them on the flight home!

I'm jealous ... I would love to see it, wish they would let Kirstyn in but she is 3 months shy of being of age :sad2:

I booked flights today. (Grand Rapids, Mi to La, Vancouver back to Grand Rapids) We are arriving just a day early to Los Angeles. Not knowing much about LA, I called the nice man at DCL reservations. He booked a night before with transfers at some 4 star Marriott, then onto the Disney Wonder the next day. I probably could have gotten a better price to have done it myself, but this is less stress for me.
For whomever is handling this gigantic roster, our GTY assignment is now cabin 2614. I'll worry about the FE exchange in another 200 days, and get an updated roster then. I have fun with gift bags and don't want to leave anybody out.

Howdy neighbour ... you're 3 cabins down from us ... we're in 2620!

Hooray! The rooms look like a good enough location. Given that I booked GTY, I guess my assignment could change but probably will stay 2614, and we are great with that. (with GTY I was afraid we'd be the most forward or aft room!)

Good Morning Cruisers!

Cool and cloudy here today, will wait until after breakfast to walk the dogs.

Have a great day all!

Hi,

Walt and Di will not be making this cruise. Another vacation opportunity for next year has superceded this cruise with limited vacation funds.

Thanks and have fun...

Walt

Good Morning Cruisers!

Walt and Id - sorry you won't be making it.

Nice day here today, it has been warm in the mornings then clouding up and storming in the afternoon, will see what it does today. Today we get to go down to Loveland for Scott's doc to read his MRI.

Have a great day all!

Thanks Elaine!

Just a bump to get us back on page 1!

Have a great day all!

I haven't had time to read all the past threads so apologies if this has been discussed in detail, but I wondered if a FE Exchange had been organised for this cruise? Would love to join in if there is one:grouphug:

By the way its good to see so many familiar names from the Barcelona/Dover Repo cruise
Julie

Yes, it is good to see familiar names.

I do not think there has been any organization for FE's yet, we just assume anyone on the roster is included. (Who is doing the roster again?)

Have a great day all!

Hi Everyone!!! And Welcome back to all of those who've returned from Fabulous Cruises!!!

Congrats to those who have already booked their airline for this trip!!!

FEs... I'm assuming we will use the main roster for those who want to participate.

There's so much planning to do.....:wizard:

The main roster has both cruises & will need to be updated as several parties have changed plans. I will work on putting together a Repo FE Roster for my own reference, but would be happy to share! Info for the roster needed would be names, ages (of children), stateroom, and any special events such as anniversaries or birthdays. The last cruise I was on had the roster sorted by deck, which made delivery of the FE gifts easy. I probably won't get to work on this for a few months as I'm sure there will be more folks changing plans between now & then.
