I hear you about flights out of Vancouver! That's why I always fly out of Buffalo when I go to Florida! My concern about flying out of Seattle is that I don't know what would happen to my customs allotment. Although I've been away for 2 weeks, I will only have been in the states for 1 day if I cross into Seattle for the flight home. Will this cause me to have to pay duty on my gifts??? Any other Canadians out there have an answer? (Hope this makes sense)
I too wondered about this and because I was unsure, I decided to book flights out of/into Toronto. You could always contact the Canada Border Services Agency to get the "correct" answer.
Edited to add....
I checked the CBSA website and couldn't find the answer but I did find a phone number for inquiries....here's the info...
For more information, within Canada call the Border Information Service at 1-800-461-9999. From outside Canada, call 204-983-3500 or 506-636-5064 (long distance charges will apply). Agents are available Monday to Friday during office hours (08:00 to 16:00 local time / except holidays). TTY (for those with hearing or speech impairments) is also available within Canada at 1-866-335-3237.
You may obtain further information by consulting the publications (Guides and Brochures) available on the CBSA Web site at www.cbsa.gc.ca.
