Hello fellow cruisers! :wizard:

I know I've been MIA for a while... it's too bad life get's in the way of fun! :confused3
Very excited because this week I booked the Villas at the Grand CA for right before this cruise! Yeah!!
One thing down and about a million more to go!
:sad2:

That's awesome! :yay: We haven't decided where to stay yet - we have family in the area, so we may just stay with them, but DL is definately in our plans!

We are going to Disneyland this fall so I think we're skipping the parks in April. I guess we will stay somewhere near LAX or the port (they aren't that far from each other). I have some places in LA that I'd like to visit so that will be convenient...we own at GCV but I don't want to drive from LA/north down to Anaheim. Been there, done that, and I can drive like that at home anytime.

Another lovely weekend here (visiting) in SF. Did you know Costco has its own line of liquors? In VA you can't buy liquor except from the state (ABC stores) so we don't have that. You can buy a big ole bottle of triple (or was it 4 or 5x) distilled vodka, or añejo tequila. I was just buying Sees Candies gift certificates...but I also found Chevys gift certificates, so it was a good day!

John Waters was in line behind me at Sees. He's stalking me. I live what 40 miles from Baltimore and I see him here in SF? Go figure. Hitting the farmers market tomorrow AM bright and early, then a museum. A couple more museums on Sunday. Hmm well I might end up in Golden Gate Park or Chrissy Field or some other green space and skip the museum tomorrow. Soak up some sun :)

TTFN!

I know. We can't buy liquor in OR either, except at the state commissioned liquor store. In Idaho I bought a Kirkland brand Margarita at Costco - already mixed up and really yummy! I didn't see the Anejo - that would be a good find. Have a great weekend!

It's very nice to cruise from the West Coast. Just an hour drive to the port. I'm looking forward to the west coast repo and Alaska cruise!

Hello from Milan, Italy.

I haven't posted in awhile, but we are still on this cruise. (We have been touring around Europe.)

I'll try to catch up when we get home.

Just a quick FYI....the government fees & taxes portion of this cruise went up...I noticed that for us ours went up by $15.56.

I just checked my reservation, no change, however, we are paid in full.

Have a great rest of your trip, Woody! Hope you do a TR when you get back!:3dglasses

Ha ha, I have 2 paid in full and 2 to pay still. So I think I have enough.

The more, the merrier... :) Think how happy you would be if you paid for *6* cabins. You would be on cloud 9! Or is that deck 9? Hmm. ;)

I was looking at flights yesterday to LAX / from YVR. Have to wait about another week for the 330 limit on the return.

I fly Delta...and this year they switched from puddle jumpers to mainline aircraft on May 1 at YVR. I'm hoping they do the same next year (seasonal service increase). I don't want to fly a regional jet from Vancouver to Minneapolis, yuck, even if it is in first class. I'll have to decide if I want to book one-way each way or if I want to do roundtrip. If it doesn't affect the fare that would give some flexibility in waiting for a sale or upgrade availability.

Anyone else thinking that far ahead?

Honey, I meant 2 cruises paid in full and to to pay for, but yeah, it is 4 cabins. Next up, Canival Valor in September. Then 2 nights to nowhere on WOnder, then this one and finally Dream in November. I'm a cruisin Fool!

I am hoping DCL will train us or bus us to Seatac, SWA to PHX, non stop, baby. If they don't, I will be scrambling.

Oh yes, I've been figuring it out. DH is very averse to riding the bus you have to take to "train" into Seattle. I think we will fly one way Medford, OR to LAX on Allegiant (currently $59 each!) then fly YVR to Medford. Roughly $440 for both legs of the trip.

I'm not booking yet - have to book our air and hotel in Miami for our Oct RCCL :scared1: to Jamaica in Oct!

Prob should think about making some arrangments for transport when we get home...

Can anyone tell what an average rate is for flying Vancouver to LA (one way?)

I can check for say tues 26 april, then I get $250 pp. Seems rather high?

check on round trip fares , they are usually better price wise

Could be as low as $150 CAD (based on current pricing).

If you look at both one-way and roundtrip fares for now (compare weekend and mid-week and search for dates at least 21 or 30 days out from the day you are searching) that can give you an idea of what fares "could" be.

Fares are generally high right now and most likely any "sale" fares you see advertised will not be valid for so far in the future. There are always exceptions. Unless you "know" the fares for your destination it's hard to decide what is a good price but there are websites that can help you do that. I suggest signing up for a fare watcher that will email you (as frequently as daily) to let you know prices for a specific itinerary or just specific city-pairs.

I watch fares to various destinations daily and they have not budged downward in well over a month. I was watching a set of dates to go to Vegas in December and the fare hovered around $300 for a long time then jumped to $400 and now about $430 for several weeks. Only AirTran offers a lower fare (~$320) right now and I don't fly AirTran.

I'm hoping as fall nears we will see some fare sales. In June 2009 I booked a trip for March 2010 from DC-Barcelona for about $300 total. Can't touch that right now. And I haven't seen sub-$200 fares to anywhere from home (DC) in weeks on the majors. Orlando might be under $200 but not by much and probabaly on a low-fare carrier (or someone else I don't fly :().

I watch like a hawk...I "have" to travel ;) to keep up my status. I'm set for 2010 but I need to start booking for 2011. I need to line up some west coast travel for next year...I'm willing to pay $250 but I get cranky if I have to pay more than that. I just flew (booked a long time ago) to SF for under $200.

Good luck!

WE definitely have to start looking and planning all of our scenarios!
