04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Hi guys!

Looks like we are out for this cruise - if you want to take us off the roster. Just found out we are expecting - and I don't think I am up for traveling with a little one. Have a great trip!
Aw, sorry we're losing ya...... but what a great reason! hehe
(ps. I totally understand. I know a lot of people will say oh go ahead and take the wee one, but for me..... I wouldn't really want to go on a cruise with a newborn- no thanks. That's too much stuff lug around- for one. LOL)

This is the LONGEST thread. I'm exhausted reading it! :surfweb:

Here are our vitals:
We will be on the 4-27-11 West Coast Repo Cruise.
DW-Laura
DH-Sean
DD- Erica age 10, turns 11 on the cruise!
Main (early) dining
Stateroom 1048, please consider coming to the dungeon to see our fish extender.

We are from Michigan, and will NOT be doing back to back cruises. Erica is hoping there will be other girls her age on the cruise. She is homeschooled, so we don't have to travel around a school year... although she will miss some ballet class while we are gone.

I only booked this today. We originally were to be on the Wonder this summer for 4 days to the Bahamas, but DH suffered a serious back injury a couple of weeks ago. We thought it better to reschedule so he can make a full recovery. (Doctors say 6-9 months)

We look forward to meeting you all... I figure in another 464 days this thread will be something like 464 pages long!

:welcome: Laura and crew! pirate:pirate:pirate:

Actually, this group is really not chatty compared to some! Really hard to catch up! Good for you for catching up with us! :3dglasses

I think you're right - as we get closer to the trip, we'll have lots more chatter going on, and lots more excitement! We aren't cruising to Alaska, either. Just thought this would be a fun way to use points from our DVC, and being on the West Coast, it was nice not to fly so far this time!

Check out the threads on the cruise boards - there is one with the "best tips for DCL" or something like that - really good advice there.

Look forward to seeing you here!

Tammie

I was surprised when booking... 464 days out from the Repo cruise. All cat. 11 rooms were sold out as well as cat. 10a. Any guesses if this will be a sell-out?
Laura:)

It may sell out, it may not. It isn't exactly a sought after itinerary, it is during the school year and airfare from Vancouver is not cheap at all. I am hoping that DCL offers transport to Sea Tac, as that is where SWA flys.

That would be a great idea! Funny - I've seen so many comment about "reasonable" airfare to Orlando from the East Coast, while I'm usually gulping at the prices from the West. This time, I find that to fly to Oregon from Vancouver is only $40 more each for us than from SEA. We thought about the train just for a change - beautiful ride through the mountains - but DH is not keen on riding the bus for 3 hours, so we'll probably just fly from Vancouver.

I too like John Wayne if I fly to DL. I even rent a car, it's an easy drive, sometimes it's just a lot of traffic. There is a lot to see and do in the area, for me I can do DL/DCA in 2 days, seeing and doing most everything I want to. 3 dys, especially if one is at opening seems to be too much time. But I am skipping the Story Book Canal, Teacups, and a few other rides that I don't care for.

Park hopping, well it takes less than 5 minutes to walk between the two parks.

It should be great weather, cool, not much humidity. I will be there on there on the 9th of April for one day of fun, that should be close to the same weather, so I will give that info after.

:surfweb: Hi,
When you rented the car, did you keep it the whole time you were there or is there a place at DL to turn it in???
have a great week,
gg

Where in Oregon are you flying to and what airline are you on???
thank you and have a great week,

No, I kept it the whole time because I went from DL to Passadena for Drum Corps, drove to the beach one day, etc. If I was only going to DL/DCA, the car would be parked. I also stay at the residence Inn usually (points) and they don't charge to park.

Believe me, DL/DCA is totally different from WDW. I imagine there is a way to drive over there and get rid of the car, but I would take the bus from the airport rather than do that.

You can really get all the good scoop on the Disneyland board here.

At least you don't have to worry about the Canadian taxes on airfare. That's why I fly out of Buffalo when I head down to Orlando! I always joke about the third ticket I have to buy when I fly out of Toronto. Have to pay for the government!

if your planning on staying at the disney california on points before the repo cruise its going to cost you a lot more than you thought. the points just went up for 2011. in 2010 the points were 17 night in a studio now its 30 a night. 34 for a 1 bedroom, now its 62 they moved this time to the most expensive time. these dates are for three nights before the repo cruise.

I am sure they considered the timeframe as well as the Repo Cruise. Looks like we will consider another hotel on property... or off. Thanks for the update. :thumbsup2

Nope...not yet...but getting close. Most of the boxes have been unpacked and the house is getting back to normal....We are still unpacking my scrapbook stuff...I didn't realize I had so much :lmao: I am hoping that by next weekend, I will be able to start scrapbooking again....and definitely trying out the Cricut!!!!

Elaine! You have a Cricut! Good for you! The funny thing is that I really don't know what it is, or what it does, BUT I've read a lot of posts from folks who have it, use it and love it!

ENJOY getting your creative juices flowing. I can't wait to see the wonderful things you come up with! :goodvibes
