04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Good Evening Cruisers!

So excited to be going on this cruise -- it lines up with the kid's spring break, so they won't have to miss much school! I haven't posted enough to send a PM yet, but we are going to DL before -- DVC members, but I don't think we will use points. We will be staying in Vancouver for about 4-5 nights after the cruise, too! Can't wait!!!!:cool1:

Welcome, and I love your name! I can really relate to that!

Have a great evening all!

So, hope everyone is doing well. I'm so looking forward to this trip. I was talking with my dad about it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more this or the dream cruise in February prob the Dream cruise since that will be a new ship, but this cruise should be awesome. I go on the Magic in March 2010 for my 22nd birthday, I'm so excited

Hello all!

DW (Donna, 45) and I (Steven, 49 (as of cruise date)) booked the Inaugural Alaska cruise on the first day it was released. At the time, we did not think about doing the REPO.

We're also doing the 14 day Eastbound T/A (to the Med, April 2010). Many are doing the B2B on the T/A ... staying an extra 7 days in the Med. That got us thinking about doing the B2B for Alaska. Accordingly, we'll be calling DVC / DCL on Monday to get the proper staterooms.

We'll participate in FE's and Secret Mickeys as well!

We will be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary during this cruise (three of the happiest years of my life)!
:lmao:

For those who have sailed on the Wonder recently ... does anyone recall a server named Ishmael (spelling?)? He was our assistant server on the Magic many years ago. Palo's/Magic Manager indicated Ishmeal had transferred to the Wonder. We're not sure if he was still active with DCL. He could be in the main dining rooms, or perhaps Palo's. Does anyone recall him being onboard?

i see theres some people from new jersey and philly on this thread. for those doing both the repo and alaska. i was looking at dummy flights of course we cant book yet. there is no decent flight from vancouver to philly. that leaves from a decent time. plus there is no nonstop flight from vancouver to philly.
newark has great flights from philly to lax, and vancouver to newark with nonstop flights at great prices. i live 45 minutes from philly airport and 2 hours from newark airport but i will be flying from newark. just something to keep in mind when you are looking at flights, when its time to purchase.i will post about this again come booking time.

Welcome. Woody

-- Ahh, nice to see Woody's poignant words of wisdom on another thread! :cool1:

FWIW - We were not able to get the same stateroom on the REPO, as compared to what was already booked for ALASKA. DCL/DVC worked MAGIC on the WONDER, and switched our rooms around, so we can leave our CRAP in the same stateroom for two weeks!

Please update rosters for both cruises with us in #2052, Late Dining.

( ... PHILLY / NEW JERSEY ... Vancouver to PHL flights ... ) Newark has great flights from philly to lax, and vancouver to newark with nonstop flights at great prices. i live 45 minutes from philly airport and 2 hours from newark airport but i will be flying from newark. just something to keep in mind when you are looking at flights, when its time to purchase.i will post about this again come booking time.

--We're on the EB TransAtlantic, and booked Barcelona to JFK, and planned to either get a ride home to Philly, or look into a shuttle. For the Alaska cruise ... depending on where others are located in Philly area, do you THINK it might make sense to look into a shuttle? I believe we can get a family member to pick us up, but would not mind a shuttle either. We live in Montgomery County, PA.

Congratulations on getting the same cabin.

Not only will you not have to move cabins, but you can spend the day exploring Vancouver, which is a really nice city.

Here's what I currently have for those who will be going to Disneyland (click to see)

:woohoo: Yes, we're definitely still at Disneyland prior to the Repo!!! :thumbsup2 We've just bought VGC points to make sure we make it!!! ;)

BTW I think I have just realised that Disney's California Food and Wine Festival will be on whilst we're there - it seems to start in April every year so I'm crossing my fingers we get to sample this Disney delight in 2011...

CAN'T WAIT!!!!! :yay:

---Good thought! It's almost like an extra day in port ... providing we're back on ship by 3-4PM. We'll have to start reading up on vancouver, Victoria & SF after the EB T/A. Too much on my plate for now.

DW (Donna) told me she found PHL to CA direct (LA or John Wayne - forget which), then Vancouver to PHL (one layover in CA) for $382 pp r/t. I think she said the flight departs at 11:30AM-ish, and was on US Air. We're going to look at this in early May.

I see SeaTec to PHL is currently just a tad over $100 pp / one way on Southwest.
PHL to John Wayne or LAX also runs about $100 pp / one way on Southwest.

Good Morning Cruisers!

Sounds like you are finding some good air fares, hope we can do the same when the time comes to book it.

Welcome to new cruisers - congrats on the back to back!

Have a great day all!

Happy Monday to All!

Lynn! Hope your schedule isn't too rough this week!

Thanks for the info on the flights. We are hoping that SWA will still have no charge for luggage by the time the trip rolls around. :thumbsup2

Great info on DL Food and Wine Festival. I never even knew they did that! :rotfl2:

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!!!

Does anyone know if "the" Official groundhog Punxsutawney Phil saw his famous shadow? Is Spring almost here? :confused3

Unfortunately, Phil says we are inline for 6 more weeks of WINTER!

Did you hear about an animal rights group petitioning to have the groundhog removed from current and future "services"? They suggestes it was cruel to use a groundhog in these duties. OMG!

Finally you and Scott and me and Jamie will be able to snag some good fares. It's about time we benefited from being in Wyoming and Utah!

Our airfare portion will go down significantly!

Also, we found it much cheaper to rent a car and fly out of Seattle rather than Vancouver. I'll probably check the same this time. Can probably snag a $59 fare each way if I plan accordingly going into LA and then coming out of Seattle.

I didn't realize there was so many groundhog's put to work today:

Nova Scotia, Canada: Shubenacadie Sam, saw his shadow :sad2:

Pennsylvania, USA: Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadow :sad2:

Ontario, Canada: Wiarton Willie, saw his shadow :sad2:

Saskatchewan, Canada: Watson Willow, saw his shadow :sad2:

Alberta, Canada: Balzac Billy, says EARLY SPRING! (I hope this one is correct) :beach:

BC, Canada: Muk Muk, I can't find the results online yet!

Now I should really get back to work :surfweb:
