04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

if your planning on staying at the disney california on points before the repo cruise its going to cost you a lot more than you thought. the points just went up for 2011. in 2010 the points were 17 night in a studio now its 30 a night. 34 for a 1 bedroom, now its 62 they moved this time to the most expensive time. these dates are for three nights before the repo cruise.

I just looked at those charts. Crazy expensive compared to WDW resorts. I am thinking I'm glad we didn't jump right in with a purchase there. I'd rather stay offsite and use the points at WDW every other year. :sad2:

DH is working hard at recovering. (Physical therapy, spinal injections, and rest.) Erica(DD) is very happy to hear of another girl her age on the cruise! We hope to make a homeschool project out of a visit to Alcatraz.

Our only other Disney cruise was a week on the Disney Magic to the Western Caribbean last summer (2009). I'm am curious to know from the veteran cruisers if there are many school-aged children aboard the ships when school is in session?

I am sure they considered the timeframe as well as the Repo Cruise. Looks like we will consider another hotel on property... or off. Thanks for the update. :thumbsup2

Elaine! You have a Cricut! Good for you! The funny thing is that I really don't know what it is, or what it does, BUT I've read a lot of posts from folks who have it, use it and love it!

ENJOY getting your creative juices flowing. I can't wait to see the wonderful things you come up with! :goodvibes

Georgie - we may be staying at this really neat Holiday Inn at the port - old building - last time we were there, we got upgraded to a 2 room suite! It had doors off to a patio (shared by other rooms). I'm with you on the Cricut, I have no idea what it is, but I do see lots of posts about it!:rotfl:

Have a great day cruisers!

Georgie & Lynn....

A Cricut is a personal cutting machine used by scrapbookers and card makers that allows you to make your own letters and die cuts using various cartridges..here is a link to Cricut's website

http://www.cricut.com/

What is really KEWL is that there soooo many different cartridges (I think they have 1 for every different font and occassion) including many Disney cartridges. I have a few of the Disney catridges and they will allow me to make my own Disney titles and make my own cut outs of Mickey & Friends, Pooh, the Princesses and Cars. I have wanted one of these machines for a long time and I finally broke down and got one...I can see that adding to my cartridge library will be sorta like Scott and his DVC addonitis!!!!

So excited to be going on this cruise -- it lines up with the kid's spring break, so they won't have to miss much school! I haven't posted enough to send a PM yet, but we are going to DL before -- DVC members, but I don't think we will use points. We will be staying in Vancouver for about 4-5 nights after the cruise, too! Can't wait!!!!:cool1:

Welcome! It's cool that this cruise lined up with your Spring Break. Vancouver looks really great to explore - we are trying to decide how many days we want to stay there, too.

Thanks! That does look like a fun place!

Yes it is older, we well maintained, shuttle to Port if needed, and the rooms had 13' ceilings, dark wood and the fixtures were of solid dark hardwoods. Very elegant Turn of the century. Now having said that it may have been refurished in early IKEA...
Location is nice.

Thanks for the info Scott. Looks like a place we would be interested in.

OBTW, what happened to the Grand Villa at Disneyland?:lmao:

Bob, not out of the pic yet, have a request in to compare a couple of potential retirement dates, so we will see.

Thanks Lynn! It looks great. I've added the Clarion Inn to our first page along with links to other places.

Have a great day today everyone. We will be going to see Disney on Ice tonight!
