Hi All,
I probably won't be that active in this thread, considering there are already 19 pages!
Georgie - sorry to hear about your loss; my condolances.
I rebooked while on my first cruise last August, and yesterday changed the reservation to the Long Beach - Vancouver repo.
Unfortunately I was laid off two weeks after my last cruise, so I need another job before I can say I am definitely on this cruise. If anybody needs an IT person, please let me know. I am willing to relocate - preferably to Orlando
A couple of notes:
In one post I saw somebody asking about gardens. Buchart Gardens north of Victoria will be beautiful during our visit; I highly recommend it. Just south of where I live, about 50 miles south of the Canadian border heading towards Seattle, is the Skagit Valley - which supposedly grows more tulip bulbs each year than Denmark does. In early May it will be too late for tulips, but Irises may be in bloom - check
www.tulipfestival.org.
And a few people mentioned Lombard Street in San Francisco. Here's the lazy person's way to see it:
I expect we'll be at Pier 35 in San Francisco, which I believe is across Embarcadero from Bay St. Get on the F line streetcar at the Bay & Embarcadero station, heading in either direction. If heading north, get off at Jones St and walk two blocks west to Ghirardhelli Square and the Hyde & Beach cablecar turnaround. If heading south, get off at 5th & Powell, walk across the street, and get on a cablecar going to Hyde & Beach. This route goes up Russian Hill, and has a stop at the top of the curvy section of Lombard St. The Powell & Market run will give you a view of Lombard from the bottom of Russian Hill.
A Muni visitor passport will cost $11 for one day, $18 for three days, and covers the buses, streetcars, and cable cars.
Additionally, from the F line's Stockton stop you can get bus 39 which will take you to Coit Tower for a nice view of this part of the city.
Hope to see you all in about 19 months!
