03/29/08, March 29, 2008 Eastern Magic - Who else?

Welcome Dipdotdarlin'!!! I will put your info into the cruise list when I update it tomorrow. I am a bit tired tonight.

I am also a teacher. I teach High School Physics and Chem. It is the Spring Break for many of the Florida schools.

While docked in St. Maarten, we would like to go to Pinel Island for a few hours, to the casino, and shopping a bit for souvenirs Currently, we're signed up for DCL Pinel Island, but are thinking of doing it on our own. We've heard it's really easy & safe.

We know the St. Thomas & St. John like the back of our hands and we'd like to do a private day sail, but since we leave port at 4pm, there isn't time for the ones we prefer. We're signed up for DCL Buck Island - Buck Island is supposed to be great.

Any suggestions or sharing anyone?

Sorry for three in a row. I need to think before I hit submit.

Hi,
I am not sure what we need to do when we get off the boat. I want to spend some time with the kids, but then again I also want time for us adults. Does anyone recommend what to do? This is our first time. I want to make sure we do the right things. I really wanted to go kayaking with hubby, but not sure how to do that.

Hi,
I am not sure what we need to do when we get off the boat. I want to spend some time with the kids, but then again I also want time for us adults. Does anyone recommend what to do? This is our first time. I want to make sure we do the right things. I really wanted to go kayaking with hubby, but not sure how to do that.

I am going to recommend Kayaking on Castaway Cay...unless you want some big adventure Kayak trip.

The kids could be in Scuttles Cove. You can check them in there and they can participate in the activities while you guys go Kayak.

You have the option to have the kids in the kids clubs and leave the boat.

Since you have a 3yo like we do I am going to suggest Great Bay Beach on St. Maarten. Here is why we love it. Get off the ship and pay $5.00 per adult for a waer taxi wristband (this is good for back and forth trips all day long.) Within 10min you are getting off the water taxi and look to the right or left and there is the beach. You can rent a chair and unbrella for $10.00 or if you think you will not be out that long then walk way down to the left and there is a chairless area. You can put your blanket or whatever (we always bring a neat sheet when we cruise) right down there. And if you have the grandparents with like we will you can escape and shop. The shopping is directly behind the beach's boardwalk. You can go back to the ship drop off the kids and come back with the adult only group and shop as well.

In St. Thomas if the boats docks at Havensight then it is an easy walk to Paradise Point which is a cable car ride up a "mountain". There is some shopping and a neat bird show. There is some shopping and a restaurant. There is a great view as well.

We have done Coki Beach and the Shell World area. I would not do it again because it is a bit of an adventurous taxi ride.

If we dock and you want to some shopping then you will probably want to take a cab to Charlotte Amalia where they have a tented flea-market area with great deals and stores as well.

Michelle-

You are amazing!! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the touring advice, updating the Dis list and the fish extender advice!! :thumbsup2 Also, thanks for Mason's gift...I haven't had a chance to speak to Chuck since I saw your post, so it's a surprise to me as well!! :)

Fellow cruisers: I'm taking a poll as to how many of us on this cruise & on the board are teachers or professors. :teacher: Please Let me know as Mike & I are thinking about doing a get together. We have an aft handicap cabin and the veranda is huge and would be lovely for a small adult party. Of course, those who are not educators would be welcome too. Let me know. DinghyDeb

Neither Chuck nor I are teachers, Sorry! :sad1: We're both attorneys. pirate: However, we both respect teachers a lot!!! :thumbsup2 The reason we're able to cruise this week is because it is our DS's spring break!! :yay:

Michelle,
The list looks awesome! The colors for the room great idea! Thank you!

Chuck and Lisa as much as I want to link up in the dining room I have 2 families cruising with us that are not Dissers and online shy so I better not DIS them :rotfl:

I just found out that my girlfriend and her husband are also bringing their older daughters and their boyfriends and that they may not dine with us. I told her that dining is part of the experience and to make sure to inform the servers when the kids will not be joining them because would be rude otherwise. She thought I was making a big deal out of nothing. :confused3 maybe I am. I just don't want anyone ruining my magic for me. Don't be surprised if we end up linked to your table the 2nd night!:)

Kim,
I think you are right. Though the servers will have to probably set the tables anyway.

FYI, it is harder to link up once you are onboard. Correct me if I am wrong please Chuck. But that has been my experience.....best to do it before the dining room stuff has been set and no empty space in the servers station.

next week I can start work on the FE list. I will not finalize it until the week before the cruise so that we will have all room numbers.

My DH and I will be traveling on the 3/29 cruise also. We are celebrating our 15 anniversary. Leaving the kids behind. I am also and teacher and it is our spring break too. Can't wait!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
