Rani-
It sounds as if you are going to be more prepared than any of us. In all of my past cruises, I have never done any of that and I am a big planner.:hippie:

You have to be on deck 8 because there are 5 of you and you have to go up a cat. Last cruise we were on Deck 8, this time we are going back to deck 6. We can not afford a Cat 4, this time.

Rani,

Don't know our room yet, but it will probably be just a Cat 11 (we booked Cat 12 GTY for four, which, if understand correctly, means we likely will get a Cat 11 since the Cat 12 rooms only sleep 3). To be honest, booking this time of year and in Cat 12 was the only way we could afford the trip (it was either a little magic, or no magic at all).

Also, we will be making door signs as well (My DW says I am overthinking the door signs).

Yeah - I'm a little retentive....however, it's more than that...shhhh! I don't know how many more of these cruises we'll be going on - if we can afford any more in the next several years I just don't know - so I want to get as much in now so I don't wind up paying for it later when my kids need therapy because they felt deprived and underpriveledged on their Disney Cruise because their mom didn't know what she was doing.....oh the pressure of momming!

Have to go to sleep - already running on empty from not going to bed at a normal time yet this week -- you know what they say,

"When the husband's away - the remote is MINE!"

-smile-
Rani

By the way, does anyone else's computer consistently show the wrong time for when messages are posted? Mine shows all posts as occuring about one-and-a-half hours earlier than actual. Time zones could explain the hour, but the half hour confuses me.

Hey Rani- Have you ever thought of booking two cat. 10 rooms for your next cruise. If you get them with a connecting door, then it is just like having a HUGE room with 4 sinks and two toliets and two showers/tubs. A cat. 4 is a HUGE jump. Play around with it on the web site. I do want you to realize the door signs etc is really a DIS thing. It truly is the minority and not the majority. I am going to have another DISer make me ONE this time as I am doing something for her and this is her return to me.:hippie:

OK - so I didn't go to bed yet....
Yeah - I know it's a DIS thing to make the signs, but they are cool looking and I want the kids to have great fun and memorabilia. I did decide not to do the pin thing because 1) we're not into it and 2) it's a potential fortune to be spent!

We booked through costco and they gave us $650 in GC for going through them. We thought about the two cabins afterward, but in my paranoia, it was very important to be as high above water as possible as I have never been closer to a cruise than my Titanic DVD and it's a huge leap for me to take my daredevil DD on a ship at all. (She's not sleeping on the side with the veranda!) So this cruise is our big hurrah as we have so many things coming up in the next several years.

Thanks and keep the info coming --
Rani

When my daughters started the pin trading I purchased a number of pins on ebay. Mainly junk Disney Pins. There are lots of bulk auctions out there. They pick from these what they want to trade, and then I buy only one or two per trip. This way they have a built in souvenirs between the one or two purchased pins and the new pins they traded "for keeps".

On our last cruise the girls were invited to pin trade with the ships officers. They wore borrowed blue lanyards and stood in line with the officers while people came to trade pins. When the girls were done they were given Thank You notes, special certificates, and 4 free pins. They had a lot of fun. Here are a few pics from the event:

We are on deck two. We had a SPR on our last week long cruise, and it was nice. Enjoy it!

Those pictures are SOOOOO cute. I want a blue lanyard now. My DH says I am obsessed over the color. I guess you can say that since I refuse to buy a car that is not blue and I even had a blue wedding cake.:goodvibes
I like those blue ones better than the dark blue ones. Nice idea Jen about the e-bay thing. Never thought of it. We have never gone to the pin trading as all of our pins have meaning and we would not want to trade them. If we got them off e-bay, may give them something to work with.:hippie:

Rani, thanks for the e-mail. I will share with the kids. Beautiful....;)

OK Tinker -
So I LOVE blue as well - royal being my favorite. My kitchen is white and blue, my halfwall is blue, my accessories and counters are blue....my van is blue!

I did so much research about the pins and learned about the companies in China that forge the pins after hours without permission and I saw about the fake pins and how the crew members won't trade for them and how the country is saturated with fakes...after all this I deduced that I can't process it all and door signs and pirate costumes will have to suffice.

On the preparation mode - I made preliminary packing lists....I basically will have to figure out how to take all the props! Each person has a backpack to take on the place and to carry their first day of clothes on the ship in case our luggage is late. Craig and I both have a big backpack (llbean) for excursions -- mine is so hideous ugly -- bright pink and purple hibiscus -- love it!!!!

I am sooo excited - can anyone tell?

For those of you who sailed last March, I wanted to let you know that we just got word that Carolyn's Mom (Caropooh & Alanappa) passed away this morning...some of you may have met her, her name was Shirley aka Mamgu

They have a thread over on the community board if you would like to let them know you are thinking of them:flower3:

For those of you who do not know them...alanapapa was the one who started our Dis thread for our last cruise as well as organized some other gatherings...Shirley was his mother-n-law who sailed with them, she was a very pleasant lady. We got to know them quite well, as we were tablemates during dinner.

Rani...wish we lived closer....so you could help me pack, LOL!!!! I have a feeling you are going to be packed way before our cruise date...you go girl!!!!! I guess if we forget anything we will know who to call :thumbsup2

Feiste...great pictures!!!!!

MAD on Disney...GO HUSKERS!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

Haaa - laughing about being packed early because.....I always pack two weeks early for big trips. That way, I am not stuck washing things at the last moment and I can make sure everything is checked off everyone's list and get the house clean.

This sounds nuts, but I put an inventory list of what's in each bag - in each bag. It makes it easier to pack back up again and make sure i have enverything. For this trip, I have my lists in a journal as well that I'll take with me.

I am definately a person who needs to focus on a project and this is a biggy....

Rani

ps - sorry about the past traveler who passed away....

Good MONDAY ALL.........

Performing a Rescue from the bottom of page 2. Guys we have to get busy. We are going to let Rani show us all up. Now JS, we are suppose to be the over packers and over planners, I think Rani is going to beat us. Maybe I have to get the "extra" room with her:lmao: . Okay, this week, I will look into goodie bags and get back to you with prices. We do need to think of what else we want to do together.

Everyone should e-mail Kim (including me) and make sure all of the information she has is complete and updated. We are really into countdown mode.....:cool1:

I just realized it, we are almost at due date time.:scared1: $$$$

We need to exchange pictures of the little ones as my "Tink" family (ie, Me) is just learning how to upload pictures.

Just had DD's b-day party on the weekend and should have some pictures now.

I see CSwan has put the link to the old pillowcase thread on the boards, so I have a feeling I will be getting PMs again, so YOU GUYS have to keep me busy with our trip........ Everyone in??????

I do have 1 question, we were going to do Brunch on our own at Palos for my birthday, I hear I can only go once, is this true. I have never tried to DD Palos before, so I am asking.....:confused3

I could use the pros and cons of second seating for dinner. We do want to see the shows, so if we're going to be rushed, that could be an issue. HOwever, we'll also have five of us to get ready after excursions and pool days prior to dinner so......

Also, shoot, I forgot my also....

We have 2nd seating and we love it. We eat late normally. If it is a show we do not care if we miss, it is nice to have the extra time. We also do not like to be rushed through dinner. I also like to attend the show in nice clean clothes and spills sometimes happen at dinner. I do not like the feeling of being "full" and go to the shows after. So we like 2nd seating.:hippie:

where's the link to the pillowcase thread -- i still have yet to see a pic of these creations.....

I did, however, find a bunch of princess and pirates iron ons at the Disney store on clearance for $.99 - so I added them to the collection of what "I might need" for these things....

Thanks,
Rani

I should have offered Congrats to you East Coasters for a job well done with the W. Series and the Sox. :woohoo:
Tomorrow is double booked Tuesday in the office, so I am signing off. I will briefly check tomorrow other than that we will talk on the 1st of Novemer. Happy Halloween. Busy day in our house. :hippie:

Okay all you Southwest flyers....I just saw where they are going to open up their next booking dates on Nov 8th
So mark your calenders!!!!!! We fly out of Denver and they usually book rather quickly...

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday.....
