Okay, welp, I guess I will get the first cruise of the decade thread started.

This will be my first ever cruise, so I am pumped. Who can I look forward to meeting?

I have been racking my brain for some great themes for our cruise. There are many pop culture references to 2010, but none that stand out as obvious. Also, this would be the first cruise of the decade, so maybe something playing on that?

But we have plenty of time to come up with something......a year and a couple of months is gonna fly by!

My family and I have a reservation on this one. We are going to wait and see how things go next year before deciding for sure whether or not to sail.

We're booked for this cruise as well, it will be our first non-navy cruise as well as our Honeymoon cruise so we're way excited, don't know how I'm gonna wait a year and a month!

We just switched to this cruise!

We've been booked for the week after Thanksgiving 2009, but had to change, as it's a bad time to be away from our business.

:woohoo:

Yay! I am SO excited that we have some new additions to the 01/02/2010 thread.

We are definitely gonna have a blast!

Maybe I should introduce myself...

I'm Melanie and I hope (finances willing) to be cruising with my DH Chris, and DS's Alex (who will be 6 1/2) and Jackson (who will be 3 1/2).

This would be my 2nd cruise on the Magic. We cruised one year ago this week.

Congratulations on your weight loss by the way. :thumbsup2 I know what a tough battle that is!!!

Thanks so much! Yes, it has been a battle, but I know that in the end, it will be worth it. The thing about weight loss is that much like any addiction- drugs, alcohol, etc- it is a battle every single day. As thin as I may become someday, my predisposition is obviously to be not thin, so I will have to make healthy choices, every day for the rest of my life.

Now, when we go on this cruise, I will have to let myself go just a little bit. Hehe.

Now, to introduce the cast of my cruise. We are not your typical cruising bunch. I mean, we are your typical family, but just a little bit older. It will be myself (26), my sister (22), and both our parents (in their 50's).

Have you ever cruised before? I'm a cruising addict. So I've cruised a few times... but not nearly as much as I'd like to.;)

I became an exerciser 10 years ago and lost a bunch of weight. Once you make a lifestyle change that lasts for a while it becomes a little easier I think. I still have to work at it every day though. I've fallen off the wagon a bit with my exercising and need to get back to it.

I'm an older mommy, I'm 42. My DH turns 40 this year.

If you have any questions about cruising I can try to answer them. If I get some time I can also share some photos from last year's cruise.

I have NEVER cruised before in my life, and honestly, never thought I would.

You see, my mom is terrified of boats, and has point blank refused to cruise in the past. Well, after much poking and prodding by my sister and myself, she has agreed to go. So, the fact that we are going on this cruise as a family, in and of itself is kind of a miracle.

Half the time, I think she might actually be excited about the whole darn thing. Other times, I wonder if she is just keeping herself busy planning all the little things so that she can keep her mind off the one BIG thing- her fear of cruising.

I am hoping to be a complete babe by the time we cruise!

Hi we will be joining you on this cruise. Just back from our week on a Western Cruise on the Magic. As I sit here typing I feel as if my house is rocking like the ship was doing

I am Okie-traveling with DH Rick; DS Joshua (19 at time of cruise)-at Penn State; and DD Chelsea (18 at time of cruise)-will be a senior at time of cruise.

This will be our 5th cruise on the Magic. 4th Eastern-must say after doing the Western I like the Eastern best. :thumbsup2

Yea!!!:dance3: :cool1: :cool1:
Welcome Okie and family!!!

We cruised together last year and had a great time!!!

Hey mmackeymouse... whats your first name?

Don't worry you have plenty of time to achieve babe-dom!!! And it really helps to have a goal.

Does this mean I can look forward to Josh posting too?

We had a lot of fun going back and forth in 2007!!

How's he liking college?

I had good intentions of following this year's cruise thread just to keep in touch. BUT then I quit my job and started working for our business... and my internet surfing time went WAY down! It's amazing how much more you work when you are relying on yourself to earn your paycheck!!:lmao:

Melissa, you can call me Melissa or Mel, whichever is easiest.

Thanks...........some days I look in the mirror and can tell the weight I have lost. Other days, I don't see any change at all.

Well that ought to be easy to remember!! People sometimes call me Melissa by mistake:lmao:

Well, hey, now that we have some new voices in here, how bout we start brainstorming some ideas and titles for our cruise.

I don't mean to "take over" so if you need me to back off, feel free to tell me so.

I was thinking maybe we could set a deadline for the title ideas, then take a vote on it?

Or we could just throw ideas out there, and make an executive decision?

Mmmmmm titles????? Not the sharpest tool in the shed....I'll have to throw that out to my "kids"--cause you know how it is "mom don't know nottin'" :lmao:

How about:

Oh Ten on the Ocean

Because We Have Walt (and you don't)

Pioneering the New Decade Tour

Trying to come up with something with Magic on the title..........that's all I have for now. Hehe.

Hi, I posted early in this thread but haven't been around much to update (holidays and stuff, and a new puppy). Our cruising cast is myself and fiance. We're getting married Nov 09 but because of 2 other weddings and my sister's new baby (due in Feb) all our vacation days (as well as money) will be used up after we get married so we decided to wait until the new year when vacations starts over to take our honeymoon. That and we're hoping that I guessed the right weekend for the WDW marathon because we're going to be running that the weekend after we get back in port.

We've never been on a civilian cruise, we were both in the navy and stationed on an aircraft carrier. Neither one of us gets sea sick and we're looking forward to being on a ship and not having to go to work! :thumbsup2
