Old habits die hard and I like the idea of the brief meeting in the Promenade Lounge around 2:30ish on the first day. It's quick, you don't have to "search" for people because there usually aren't lots of folks in that space and it's relatively quiet to be able to meet and greet. We also enjoyed a quick meet around the same time at the Goofy pool on the Med sailing but we really had a hard time figuring out who WAS with our group and who wasn't. So if it comes to a vote, I'm all for the Promenade Lounge....

jeff

I'm all for what the veteran cruiser votes for. :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

First of all...:welcome:Heather & Laura! So excited about this cruise as it is our 1st Disney Cruise! We are Disney Vets, but just have never cruised with Mickey!

I'm all for what the veteran cruiser votes for. :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I totally agree! Just let me know when & where and we will come by to meet everyone!

SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! Can you tell?:woohoo:

:goodvibes Rachael

Ok, back from lunch. aka going to Hobby Lobby. Since the boss is missing today I decided to work on my cabin FE gifts.

I'm cool with the 2:30 or 3 in the Promenade Lounge. Its served us well in the past. Even though it might be a tight squeeze for those coming by air on Saturday. The boat drill is supposedly scheduled for 4 pm. I wouldn't mind doing it after the boat drill but the first time cruisers will want to be at the "Sail Away Party". I tend to lean toward majority rules.

Ok off to work on my FE gifts. Shhh, don't tell my boss.

So now its excursion planning time...Anyone planning on snorkeling in the Caymans or been before and have an excursion of that sort they would recommend?
Promise to participate more now that things have calmed down to the more normal crazyness we are used to around here, and can't wait till meet everyone. We will be the couple relaxing with the drink of the day in the adult pool area.
Well off to find that gym that keeps taking money out of my account every month and then to draw pretty pictures on people. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Rachel,
We did the Aquaboat and Snorkel Adventure our last time in Grand Cayman and found it to be lots of fun! We considered doing it again, but this trip is all about relaxation, so we will be the OTHER couple by the pool with the drink of the day! :goodvibes
Glad that you and Matt still like each other, it's kind of important! :rotfl:

Although this isn't my first cruise, it is my first DIS meet. I think Jeff's idea about the Promenade Lounge is a good one, myself! It's usually pretty quiet at that time, everyone is eating, swimming, making Palo ressies, and up on deck can get crazy!

I am so excited about this trip! It can't get here fast enough!

To Jeff and to those who have cruised before:

I just saw something that they be moving or have moved Pub Night to one of the theaters because of the overwhelming response and the bar being to little to hold everyone. Just giving you a heads up.

For those first time cruisers or who have missed it in the past:

If you want to laugh until you cry :rotfl2:(makes crying the last night seem a little more acceptable) go to Pub Night. The crew (usually the cruise directors, etc.) have skits and songs for those in attendance. It's a great time and not to be missed.

Ok thats all, still working on FE gifts. My office looks like a war zone.

On the Med cruise they did it in Rockin Bar D and it was packed in there!

First, Promenade Lounge for a meet sounds perfect to me!

Now, what's this Pub Night all about? Will it be listed in the Navigator so I know where and when to go? Sounds intriguing!

NO worries on not having time for the board, I think you have a couple other things on your mind with the WEDDING!!! Remind us all again which day you are getting married and where? Very exciting!

Yeah...I have a gym that keeps charging me as well. I need to find it, too, now that softball and flag football are almost over. Just signed up for a pilates class that starts Monday. I'm sure I'll be sore the next day.

Back to work for me...

Didn't find the gym this morning, because it was beautiful out, so put air in the tires and dusted the bicycle off and took it for a spin.
We are getting married at the National Infantry Museum in Ft Benning. It was just recently built, and they moved the old WW2 chapel to this location. So pretty excited about it, bc nice and traditional and can make Matt wear his uniform and keep the family happy. We are having a reception in our historic district at a nice local bar/ restaurant that has a banquet area and rooftop for dinner and then a bar for entertainment when the "adults" leave.Starting to get pretty excited, now that the stress part is winding down.
On top of wedding Matt is changing duty stations end of the year (thankfully only 4 hours north of where we are), so have also had to find a job at a studio up there and start planning the move this past month. So I extra can't wait to chill on the cruise and at WDW. I think I might forget my cellphone in the glove box of the car at cruise port hotel:rolleyes1

That was one had looked at, so thank you so much. We are going to be working on the relaxing thing too--well one of us, Matt has relaxing and sleeping at the pool down. I tend to be worried that there is something going on somewhere that I should be a part of. Funny story, last cruise we went on was after a WDW trip where I ran the poor man ragged and got him up waaay to early every day. So the first night on the cruise I get up to visit the little girls room, and he wakes up as I am coming back into the room to get back in bed. Matt asks what time it is, sees the 5 am on the clock and says something not so pg about I have got to be kidding him: we have to get up already?

Laura - you will get it figured out - just throw some clothes in the suitcase - stash some cash and you'll be good :thumbsup2

Rachel - We are doing the 3 reef snorkel with Capt. Marvins in Grand Cayman. I haven't done it before, but it comes recommended from several different sources. They do a full day that has an added on afternoon tour of the island that I think someone else has signed up for.

We've got a PARRRRTAYYY going here! :dance3: It's going to be fun!

Cool, thanks so much. Will check it out and run it by the other half.

I think 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge sounds great for the meet. I will put that on the top of the FE list and will have extra copies in case someone forgets theirs.

Welcome Michelle, Heather and Laura!!!

Sorry have not been on the boards at all, but turns out that this wedding planning thing can be crazy. Finally all the major elements are taken care of though, and Matt and I still like each other. I do vaguely remember a discussion we had a long time ago about just getting married on the Magic instead of having a big wedding, and it was my call--so just have myself to blame, lol. Placed order for last of wedding decorations yesterday and got FE gifts from the same website--yeah I am multi tasking now!!!

haha....yup it should be that easy to go away on vacation. I am sure DH thinks it is that easy too:goodvibes

The last time we cruised we had a meet and greet in the Promenade Lounge around that same time. It worked out great, everyone had a quick drink, talked for awhile etc. It was great to see and finally meet everyone.

Thanks for the Welcome! We too are Disney Vets and did our first DCL a year and a half ago. Had an amazing time! I just hope that this time will be as good. You will be so excited to see everything for the first time.

I hadn't seen Pub Night either when we sailed. Does it happen a few times during the cruise or just once? Does anyone have any other info about this?

TGIF!!!!!

Morning everyone!

It's a rainy morning here and I would just love to crawl back in bed and hibernate for the day! With all the kids activities, workouts, Disney stuff and a mere lack of sleep, I could use a day of doing nothing!

My parents have the kids this weekend (they take them 1x a month so that DH & I can have our date time) and we were planning on driving up to VT to do some foliage peeping, but with this stinking rain & wind, we decided to skip it and stay in all weekend ;)

Have a great day!

Rachael

Pub night is only on the last night of the sailing right after 'Til we meet again' -- it's a series of skits put on by the cruise staff. Very fun.

Enjoy the weekend inside! It rained here all night and into the morning, but I actually saw the sun come out about 30 minutes ago! It seems to have disappeared again, but at least the rain stopped.

I am slammed at work and not in the mood to work (I work at home on Fridays). So...I have made minestrone soup and orzo/chickpea salad to have for lunches this weekend and next week. Starting pilates on Monday and going to use the GPS to find that gym again next week. :rotfl2:

Enjoy the weekend all...I will be popping back on later I'm sure.

Matt sounds a lot like Sulley! He would love to sleep on a lounger all day and get up only in time to go to dinner then to bed! :lmao:

We are apparently right across the ship from you in the corresponding Port side stateroom! It's our favorite stateroom, handy to the Aft elevators but in a quiet area of the ship!:goodvibes

Darcy, I can sympathize with the slammed statement! I finally said enough! LUNCHTIME! :rolleyes1

Happy to do the Promenade Lounge. Kids can come too, right? I wanted my DD8 to be able to meet some of the other kids so she might know someone in the kids clubs. On our first cruise, 3 night, so very short, she did not really bond with anyone and did not stay in the clubs too much, so on the longer cruise I was hoping she would be able to meet some more kids.

Also, for Pub Night, I will have to reserve Flounders time for my younger DD2, right? (Assuming DH wants to come with me.)

absolutely kids should come to the meet. It is often a nice time for kids to connect- especially those who may have been chatting as a result of DISboards. And re pub night - you are correct. Reserve flounders as there are no kids allowed at this one! But know that it only lasts 30 minutes or so and if the folks at flounders know you are going there, they can usually make room. When my youngest was in Flounders, I remember just wheeling her in sleeping in her stroller on the last night for a brief bit of time.

Okay, the votes are in and the tribe has spoken. We are adding Laura and Heather to the FE list, but we have to make this the VERY final list!

Unfortunately, we will not be able to add any more cabins to our group. We'd like to give everyone enoguh time to order/create/buy their gifts and not be shopping for the FE at the very last minute.

As soon as I get the final details on room #s and emails from Laura and Heather, I will email out the FIANL spreadsheet. The only reason it will change again is if someone gets pixie dusted with an upgrade. :wizard:

Overview:
# of Cabins 28

# of Girls 17
# of Boys 18
# of Adults 52
Total # of People 87

Stephanie/Nana Tink (since there are 2 Stephanies here)...you and I have had quite the time with work lately huh? Mine will be crazy for a while. We let someone go from my team and until we hire a replacement, it means more work for the rest of us.

Disney can't come soon enough! :cheer2:

ok I am back. We are moving next week so things are CRAZY right now. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone for letting us be added to the FE List! We had a blast doing this in June!

we will for sure be dressing up on formal night. I love it!
We will probably do paradise beach on cozumel as we have done that before
probably just wander around Key west
still not sure what to do for free/cheap on grand canyman. thoughts?
