°o° °o° °o° 9/11/09 DCL Announcement Discussion Thread °o° °o° °o°

As some have discovered from the DCL site and as was confirmed on the Passporter site, there are no 7 night Caribbean cruises in summer 2011 -- only 3, 4, and 5 night cruises on the Dream. VERY disappointing for those of us hoping to cruise with kids in the summer for a full week. Guess another line will have to take me there!

No need to book with someone else! That is silly! Just book a back-to-back! Who wouldn't love to do that on the newest ship?!

I'm having surgery on 9/24- I hope I'm out of the hospital by the 28th. DH won't know how to book a Disney Cruise nor will he want to!

1. Any news on the dates and itinerary for the 2011:
 • 6 day LA to Vancouver repo?
 • EB TA from PC to Barcelona repo?
2. Does it look like the Dream will only be doing shorter cruises (3/4/5 nights) for the Summer 2011 while the Magic is in the Med? ETA: just saw my answer above. Very disappointed as we wanted a 7 night Caribbean.

3. Can ALL 2011 cruises be booked on Sept 28 (earlier for CC members), or just the Alaska ones?

Thanks!

It is probably going to be the same for both directions LA/Vancouver. The itinerary for the return cruise is posted in the first post. Nothing was said about when to book the Dream.

We're a family of 5 - airfare is usually under 200 apiece to go from NYC to Orlando - if they ship leaves from Vancouver - the airfare if I fast forward to august of 2010 is like 400-600 per person .... looks like i'm not doing the Alaskan cruise. That's why I so interested in moving my dummy booking on the Magic for next year to a Caribbean route for 2011 in the Summer ...where is that info???:confused3

Fly into Seattle - its super cheap that way!

"I'm incredibly sad by this announcement! We have been longing to try a 7-night Caribbean cruise after our first 4-night try last year. Guess what Disney . . . you're not forcing me to take kids out of school to accommodate you, so I'll be happy to have my deposits back and give them to another line who will take me for 7 nights to the Caribbean IN THE SUMMER! "

You'll have the new ship.

They did the caribbean all year -- why didn't you book this year?

I think it stinks that Disney didn't announce the Dream itinerary at the same time -- and is making us wait until October. Makes it much harder to plan for 2011 without knowing whether we will have any interest in the Dream itineraries (especially if they are tying it into NYC).

I think my brain is dead today, are the actual dates posted somewhere for the Alaska cruises? I did read the first page this time, just didn't see actual dates for each cruise. I know see the date of the 1st one, so I assume every 7 days will be the next date?

Okay, if I fly into Seattle since I'm brain dead when it comes to the West Coast, how far to Vancouver --- hey isn't that where there filming Twilight - my daughter would love that!!! Maybe fly into Seattle come back to LA then DVC it at the Grand Floridian!!!!

The DCL site is currently experiencing technical difficulties so I can't look for an answer to my question there so I'll ask here - what will "Spring Break" 2011 (March/April) look like? 3,4,5 nights or 7 nights? Dream or Magic?

I found it interesting that all the Alaskan cruises were Tues to Tues. That makes a weird vacation.

Also it looks like the PC is out for us. It was iffy to pull DS out for 10 days of school, but 12 is a no go. That may even no pass here at work. I can take two weeks off, but no more than that. I was hoping for a Sat - Sun 15 day cruise instead of a Thurs - Friday cruise. Oh well.

The East Bound Transatlantic would only be one week of school. Maybe DS could take his finals early. Think I will call the school board and see if that is a possibility.

Maybe it is going to be the model of the ship? They would have to release some sort of floor/deck plans before you could decide where to book your room afterall. :)
That's what I was thinking as well...a video and some deckplans. I wonder if they'll clearly mark the SPH rooms for us...I wonder if there will even BE SPH rooms! ;)

It is about a 3 hour drive. There are buses and trains that make the trip so getting up here without a car is actually pretty easy.

Prior to repositioning to Alaska, the Disney Wonder will sail a special 10-night Mexican Riviera voyage, including a stop at Manzanillo.

Seattle is about 3 hours south of Vancouver. You can take www.quickcoach.com or the amtrak up, or rent a car. We live 30 mins from Vancouver and only ever fly out of Seattle or Bellingham. Bellingham is a great LITTLE airport that is just 30 mins south of the border, and about an hour to the cruise port.

And yes, they are doing Twilight here - we actually got to visit the New Moon set one day and met them all - best day of a 13 yr olds life!
Security is VERY tight around the sets though, but I work in the film industry and was owed a favour :)
They start Breaking Dawn in March 2010 and are currently doing Eclipse. So it will all be LONG done before you come to town for a cruise, and most has been done in a studio, so there isn't much you can go see.

I know that we are very lucky to be able to drive the 12 hours to PC. We only had to pay for tickets for the PC repo to CA so I won't complain about having to pay airfare after all the years people have had to fly from the west coast or even Europe to cruise out of FL. That will just make us extend the vacation a bit to do some exploring. DH and I spent 10 days driving through Nova Scotia and St. Johns about 15 years ago and it was beautiful! I would love to see more of the west coast of Canada. :)

I haven't seen anything posted stating the actual dates or even confirming that the Alaska cruises are 7 days. :confused3

I doubt that they would intentionally build any "secret" rooms on the new ships. They want to be able to get every penny out of us. ;)

I have tried to piece together what we actually know about each ship's itinerary in the first post at the top of the info from today. Not very much about Dreams at all except that it will be based in FL.

THANK YOU,

Whilst I know a few are enjoying this moment I have always tried my best to help and assist everyone, I have been more correct than anyone else on this board, and still have a good track record, This is getting quite personal now, and I do not appreciate that. Its always been my intension to help everyone.

Who else said Europe? No one!!! Who got the Dream date right to 4 weeks! The booking window???

I am really glad you appreciated it!! :sad1:
I appreciate your thoughts and postings. You also seem to have really good sources. So please don't ever stop posting. :thumbsup2

Now does anyone know where they will be doing the unveiling in October. I'm mid-town in NYC and may seriously have to get to that event.
I, myself always have looked forward to all your posts and how we all try to come up with where DCL will be heading. Keep up the good work and look forward to guessing with you again in the future:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
