ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Just spoke to TA. She said they just got email about it this morning. It does not affect all resort rooms. You can ask on check in. Does not help the planning situation, but maybe we'll get lucky.

Thanks for the responses on driving to St.Petersburg. The boyfriend thinks we should catch a ball game while we're there!

Regarding the fridges, I really hope that is not true!!! I was planning for lots of water and in tool breakfasts. Will have to ask my TA.

I just called POR regarding the refrigeration and she said the refrigerators in POR will be replaced by July 31st and August travelers will have the refrigerators

35/36 days until we leave depending on which day we decide to get on the road!!! 37 days to check in at POP!! I hope the room is equipped with refrigerator as promised. That would be so disappointing to get there and have nowhere to keep milk/water cold.

I just got off the phone with ASMu. The CM there told me that there is a wiring safety issue with the fridge's in use in a lot of WDW rooms so they are being pulled and then replaced as the new ones arrive and that process could take months. ASMu standard rooms are definitely affected... sigh... I guess I'll request one and hope for the best. I'm really bummed!

The fridge issue is also at DL and Aulani, however, it is only some rooms and not all that will be affected. The email says it will take several months to replaces all the bad fridges. I really hope we have one for our Aug trip for the bottled water.

Did anyone else hear they are removing the fridges from most Disney world resort rooms due to defect? And that you won't be notified of this until you arrive with a letter In your room? This sucks for our breakfast in room plan!

ugh! No, I did not hear that. Were they specific on certain resorts or is this a "world wide" problem? Where was this posted?

ugh.. I see some people are calling the hotels directly and getting different answers.

I think they put refrigerators in all the rooms (as opposed to the days when you had to request them) in 2010 because on our Nov. 2009 trip we didn't have one and in Aug. 2010 we did. Because I didn't know ahead of time (I wasn't on the boards too much for that trip) I had ordered a styrofoam cooler from GG with my order and had planned on keeping it filled with ice and then just tossing it when we left. It was only about $5 at the time (just checked and it's $7.49 now), so I may just add one of those to my order just in case.

I have a bunch of breakfast ADRs that the family doesn't want to give up (can someone here come and remind them of this when I'm dragging them all out of bed in a few week??) so I may just do this trip without a GG order.

Somebody called Poly IPO and it doesn't seem the Poly is affected by the fridge situation. :-)

Awesome! Now the bigger question though, does it affect the BC because we are there for the first five nights!

On a different note, tonight's movie night is Lady and the Tramp. Obviously the menu is spaghetti with meatballs and sausage...I need to make the sauce and I'm sitting here like I have nothing to do :rotfl:, salad, bread, wine (ok, not for the kids...). I'm stuck on dessert...I could go with the obvious Italian pastries (the plus of living in NY - this is easy), but I was wondering if anyone remembered a specific dessert they had in the movie?

I don't remember a dessert in the movie... But such a cute idea!! :-)

I tried to google your dessert question and came up short. Obviously I also act like I have nothing to do!

Oh no! Did something happen at Disney or at home? I hope she's ok!

I don't know the whole story, just that it happened the night before at the Regal Palms Resort and my sister had to take her to the hospital in Celebration, FL. I think she's fine, the injury did not seem to diminish her joy upon meeting the princesses. :)

:rotfl2: Ok, so I looked at the Tony's menu for dessert...I think we will go with cheesecake! Oh and I had found a DVD of Lady and the Tramp here which is why I chose it for tonight, but of course it hasn't been watched in a million years and is scratched - ugh! Off to the library in hopes that they have a copy! Otherwise we are having spaghetti dinner and my dog will have to play the role of both Lady and the Tramp. pug:

That stinks, but I'm glad to hear she seems to be doing ok!

I can't believe I haven't seen this thread :(

Can I join in on the fun?? We are a family of 4. We have 2 DD's, one will be 12 in Sept and the other will be 4 while we are at the parks, celebrating at CRT. We will be at SSR from 8/15 to 8/23 and then AoA from 8/23 to 8/26. We are probably the only family of girls (minus DH) that will be in a Cars Suite :) So excited!!

Welcome!! We will be there 8/18-8/27 and doing a split stay too (BC and Poly)!

Phew...library had not one, but two copies of Lady and the Tramp! And its sequel - who knew? :confused3

Scratch the cheesecake - I can't afford the weight watcher points :rotfl2: Nothing like dropping a huge chunk of change on a half marathon clear across the country to inspire some healthy (er?) habits lol. So it's Italian cookies instead!

Menu printed, sauce cooking, and movie night is on :)

:-) priceless!! You will have to take pictures!! :-) And of CR so I can have a virtual split stay! Hahaha. 22 days!!!! (It just went under 20 until we leave - since we're driving and going to Sea World first)

Definitely! :-) that's right, you'll have to take pictures of sea world for me. Lol
