ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

I sooo want our vacation to get here! Right now we're under a rainfall warning with up to 100mm expected by tomorrow night... If you want to know what that looks like search Alberta floods 2013 and you'll see some of the devastation around here.

Thankfully for now we're in a safe zone with no flooding though on the other side of the big city they're being rescued from rooftops by the army!

Praying for sunshine and dry skies to help alleviate our rivers and streams!!!

I hope you are waking to clear skies!

Love it! Okay now to plan what I can do for ours tonight... Not sure it will be as creative, but thank you for the inspiration!!

What movie do you want to watch? There are tons of ideas here on the DIS and online. It gets addictive.... I was in the food store getting the pineapple and bananas when it hit me to add pog juice. So there I was, googling the recipe in the store and tossing ingredients in the cart lol.

Not sure if the fam will go for crafts, but I may try one week!

Have you tried making the adult pineapple drink that they have at dinner at Ohana?

My wife wants to figure out a way to make an alcoholic version of LeFou's Brew. Might try it with marshmellow vodka. :scratchin

DD7 has puffy, glassy eyes with lavender lids. Came home from school with them yesterday too. (No signs of gunky, bloodshot pink-eye) This morning her throat hurts - not enough to stop talking or eating. She's going to her last day of school as it's only a half day and then has an apt with the Dr for a med check anyway. I know I "should" stay home with her - but it's 3 hours of school and they are watching movies. (as both a tax payer and mother I love the "we are watching movies at school" thing)
OK upon rereading this I am thinking I really should keep her home this morning but there are no other signs of illness, no fever. Mommyhell for sure.

Could she be suffering from allergies? Jake suffers from severe seasonal allergies (he is on Singulair, Advair, Omnaris, and eye drops from May - October, or until we start to get our overnight freezes), and some of your DD's symptoms sound just like what he gets. I was chatting with the pharmacist on Tuesday evening when I went to pick up another round of his medications, and he was saying that allergies are worse this year than in previous years due to the late spring and the larger than average amount of rain we've been having (in our neck of the woods, anyway). So maybe that might be it?

I'm going to Mommy hell. My husband and I were chatting with one another at my sons soccer game and missed his first goal of the season! However when he said after "Did you see my goal?" my husband said "Oh No!!" just as I said "Of course I did":rotfl2:.
Yes. I lied. I lied quickly and without remorse. Because if that kid found out neither one of us was watching he would never ever let us live it down. You should have seen the look of shock on my husbands face:rotfl2:.
He mouthed the words "You are horrible" but I just grinned and told him how fantastic it was.

Had to share somewhere so I thought I would share here so you could all know how horrible I am:rolleyes2:rotfl2:

We always make deals with other parents on our sons' teams - if we're late to a game or just not looking ;), a parent who is watching lets us know exactly what happened "Ben hit a double to deep left field on the third pitch", or some such. Then we can even lie convincingly :rotfl:

You guys are awesome! I knew you would understand! One look at that proud little face and there was no way I was saying I missed it!;)

When I tucked him in last night he asked me to describe his goal to him :rolleyes1. I just told him it was a blur because I was so excited for him;). I will not be taking my eyes off the field for the rest of this season!

If she was feeling up to it, I would have sent her too! (and movies at school drive me nuts! I worked in our school district for 6 years as a teacher assistant then as a para and while some teachers did the movie thing the right way -like Disneys Nature movies! - I never understood why one of the middle school geography classes watched Goosebumps at least twice a month!)

That is some smart parenting!

Thanks all for the wishes, we are safe, our friends and family on the other side of the city have been displaced for a few days but are safe too thank goodness

I hope you are waking to clear skies!

Unfortunately our forecast is calling for more rain through til monday. Our rivers will be at their highest tonight.

Praying for sun!

Oh my gosh, for YEARS of disboards use and I didn't realize that there was a month specific group!!! We are going August 6-13th. Our first time at SSR (AK-Kidani is our 'home'). We always plan our trips a year in advance and just booked this one less than a month ago and I am so excited. We will be celebrating our 30th anniversary a few weeks early. I just booked the Africa Trek and Keys to the Kingdom tours yesterday. I'm so excited (haven't told hubby).

I booked the early tour for AK but thinking of changing to a later one 11:45 was filled the day I wanted, so either another day or even later. I worry that the animals won't be out later as it will be even hotter.

Has anyone here done this in the afternoon, if so, how were the animals?

Happy anniversary! We were on a thread together for a Dream cruise. Good to see you again! :goodvibes

I was debating this as well, but the CM I spoke with said that if the reservation is made with a connecting room guarantee, it will trump all other requests regardless of whether you check in online or in person. And I know it's not a true guarantee, but as long as you have only two adults and the rest are under 18, you are 99% sure to get it. The problems people have with not getting them are usually when you have three adults (say a grandparent goes along or a friend) and kids. My boys are old enough that I'm not too concerned. We just did DCL and had two cabins (an inside and a verandah) They were in a sideways inside so across the hall and around the corner from us...it was fine.

Well as we are going to be at Disney the last week of August and at CRB I'm fairly hopeful we will get connecting rooms. We don't mind walking so even if we get put farther away from the main building and pool we'll be ok. Sounds like the fartherest we'll be is about 10 min. walk...which I don't really consider much of a walk so I think we'll be good. We are two adults with a 16, 12 and 9 year old so hopefully it will work out as I understand there has to be an adult in the room if they aren't connecting....wonder how they manage all these school and team groups that come? My oldest goes on band trips and they never have an issue of having to have an adult in the room with them, its usually 4 kids to a room. Still haven't made up my mind about doing online check in.:confused3

Excited for the new thread - thanks Seneca :goodvibes

I also realized that my dates have changed. We were planning two nights at AoA, then move to the Poly, but now our whole week will be at the Poly (I decided to buy an AP, and the discount offered allowed us the upgrade :cool1:) So, we're now 8/13-8/20 at the Poly. I think I have my ADRs all lined up:

8/14 - OHana dinner at 5:05pm
8/15 - Via Napoli lunch at 12:45pm
8/16 - T-Rex lunch at 1:00pm
8/17 - Crystal Palace lunch at 1:05pm
8/19 - Cape May dinner at 5:10pm

Planning to try for BOG for lunch on either 8/14 or 8/20 (or maybe both :))

Park days are:
8/13 - AK
8/14 - MK
8/15 - Epcot
8/16 - DHS/Downtown Disney
8/17 - MK
8/18 - DHS
8/19 - Epcot
8/20 - MK

Under 60 days now :cool1: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I have all my dining ressies squared away.
Aug 26 Hollywood and Vine 4:55PM
27 Akershus 5:00PM
28 Garden Grill 4:15PM
29 Mickey's Backyard BBQ 6:30PM
30 Boma 6:25PM
31 O'hana 9:30AM
Sept 1 Marrakesh 6:00PM
2 Be Our Guest 4:20PM

SenecaWolf could I also get LGM with Mickey and the gang. Thank you. No rush I have 68 days. :goodvibes

My dates are wrong on the first page, we arrive on 8/5 not the 8th @ POR Thanks :thumbsup2

I made it! Seneca, could you possibly do a Mickey head for me with Mickey and friends?

We have changed resorts again...last time! We are now in POR (Aug 12-19) and we just paid in full. Now the waiting :)

We will be at the Contemporary 8/3 - 8/7. So excited!

Just found this thread! Can you please add us for 8/9-14 BWI? It's a surprise trip for DS12 who turns 13 on the 9th. I HATE heat & humidity, and go to WDW 3-4 times a year but never, ever in summer. So this will be a challenge for me! I'll have to read back through to get some tips from all you seasoned August travelers!

Hi folks. Just checking in to the thread for our August DisneyMoon (that's turning more into a family free-for-all!) 6 of us - hubby and I, plus in-laws are staying in an OKW 2-bed and SIL and her husband are staying onsite at a moderate (not sure they'd be comfortable if I shared.) Our Dates are August 2nd to 16th. Will be back to share more soon.

Thanks Seneca for the new thread!

I do have two small changes for my ADR's

On 8/24 I am going to be at Mama Melrose at 3:35

And in 8/26 I'm going to be at Coral Reef at 7:15

Can I join in?

We will be at GF from the 17th - 30th August. I'm so excited, i've always wanted to stay there and I'm finally getting the chance :goodvibes
I'll be there with my mum, dad, sister and brother coming all the way from the sunny UK :rotfl:

I'm that excited i did all my ironing yesterday and now have a giant pile of clothes balancing on a dresser waiting to be packed. It's to early to pack, right?

We have booked these meals after many discusions and arguments:

18th - Ohana - 10am
19th - Whispering Canyon - 8:30pm
20th - Rainforest Cafe AK - 5:30pm
21st - Chef Mickeys - 8:30am
22nd - Prime Time - 7:00pm
23rd - Cindellas Royal Table - 7:00pm
24th - Trails End - 7:00pm
25th - Crystal Palace - 7:30pm
26th - Biergarten - 7:30pm
27th - 1900 Park Fayre - 8:30am
28th - Be Our Guest - 8:00pm
29th - Tutto Italia - 1:00pm

Some family members are really fussy with food so i'm quite pleased with the selection that we have got, i'm a bit disappointed that no one else in the family wanted to eat at the Yak and Yeti and all wanted Rainforest cafe :rotfl:

Can you add me please? I'll be at the Beach Club Aug 1 - 8 with my DS and DD. Starting to feel close!

Oh I'm so excited to have found this group! Others to obsess with, YAY!!!

This will be our second trip (we were there in 2009 and stayed for a week at the Saratoga in a one-bedroom deluxe villa). It'll be me, DH, DD6, and DD2. We are staying at AofA in a Lion King suite from Aug7-10 and then in a vacation home from Aug10-19 with SIL and her family...don't want to wish the summer away but I can't wait!!!!

Our ADRs (all dinners except CM) and touring schedule is:
7th- Resort/Cape May
8th- MK/1900 Park Fare
9th- Epcot/Via Napoli
10th- DTD somewhere
11th-Universal Islands of Adventure
12th-MK/'Ohana
13th-House
14th- MK/Tomorrowland Dessert Party (hoping to do BOG for lunch)
15th- Epcot/Akershus
16th- DHS/Sci Fi
17th-House/Mickey's BBQ
18th-Beach
19th-depart/Chef Mickey's breakfast

I'm in the park touring mode now, trying to figure out what we'll try to do when it's just the four of us on the AofA days, vs. what to do with SIL and her family. They are not early risers and didn't get to parks early at all on their first trip (we aren't either but when at Disney we are!) so thank goodness we'll have two cars.

Can't wait to read more on here and catch up with all of you! 49 more days for us...WOO HOO!!!:cool1::cheer2::banana::cool1::cheer2:

Finally settled on our ADR's

8/18- T-Rex @6:00 p.m.
8/19- The Plaza @6:35 p.m.
8/20- Hollywood & Vine @1:30 p.m.
8/21- Sci-Fi Dine-In @7:00 p.m.
8/22- Akershus @8:20 a.m.
8/22- Crystal Palace @7:50 p.m.
8/23- Planet Hollywood @6:00 p.m.

We plan on eating at Beaches and Cream on 8/24 if it's not to busy.

59 more days!!:banana::banana::banana:

Hi Everyone!!

I know it's been a while since I posted (couldn't get DH to figure out when exactly in August we were going to go). But we FINALLY figured it out!! We are going August 16-23 and staying at Pop for the first time! Super excited!!! Now to just find airfare lol. I think we are going to wind up flying out of LaGuardia into Tampa, renting a car, and driving to Pop. It makes me a little sad because we won't be taking ME, but the airfare from around here into MCO is just ridiculously priced. We'll see what happens.

I also have 1 ADR booked so far (more to come I'm sure). We will be at Marrakesh 8/19 at 5:00. We tried it for the first time last year and loved it!

Now I need some advice. Our 2nd anniversary is on the 13th and since it's a Tuesday and we'll both be working, we'll be celebrating in WDW again! Last year, we ate at Artist Pointe and loved it. This year, I'm at a loss. We've eaten at Jiko, Narcoosee's, and Artist Pointe in the past. I wanted to try California Grill, but of course it's still going to be closed. DH has a weird thing about eating italian food in WDW so that leaves out a few options. We won't have the funds for V&A (that'll be a retirement meal lol). Any suggestions? I'm thinking about going back to Jiko since it's been a few years but I'm open to trying new things.

Thank you all in advance!

No, I haven't yet. I'm trying to be good with my WW right now...or at least until my next blood work is dong :rotfl:. As soon as DW and I tried the Pog juice we both said, yum, this would be great with vodka or rum!

I need to make it a point to try LeFou's Brew this trip!

Welcome! Your pug is so cute - I have a pug too!

We are doing the Wild Africa Trek too! I am so excited. We booked the one at 9:30 on 8/21 - I can't wait to hear your review!

I was wondering that myself. My DS17 will go to Disney on a class trip next March. He will still be 17, as will most of the class. And in 2000 we brought my sister with us. She was 16 at the time and we stayed at the CBR. She was supposed to have a connecting room, but wound up getting one about four or five rooms down from us. I had no qualms having her down there :rotfl2: Jeez, I must have thought she was so old then...if my kids were that far away now I'd be checking on them quite often!
