Glad to hear that your cat is okay Pigletto!:thumbsup2

I agree I would probably ditch the rental car, especially now that you are back onsite!:cool1:

So in personal news..
The budget took a hit today. My sweet boy cat peed in the house a few times which is highly unusual for him so we went to the vet. He has a partial blockage in his urethra and had to stay for the day to get a catheter and be flushed out. Now we switch him to a stone dissolving prescription diet. He already ate a very expensive food but apparently male cats are prone to stones and he needs something with less ash and more liquid.
In the end..$500.00 :sad2:.
It could have been very serious and I am VERY grateful he is ok. I will need to cut some corners somewhere to get back in budget for the summer but it will be ok. I am thinking of ditching the car and using Disney transportation. There's at least 200-250 that I had built into my vacation budget.
It's not an expense we were expecting so it would have to come out of savings which I'd rather not do. Ditching the car would just cut it in half and I'd feel better about that:) . And my wee little friend is on the mend. That is the important part! :)

Aw, poor little fella :cat:. And poor pigletto........that's a heck of a vet bill :scared1: . But totally worth it. Can't see our babies suffer, even if when it impacts the bottom line of our vacations.

Glad he's on the mend :thumbsup2 .

Thanks guys:). He's home and looking pretty good. He won't touch the new food:snooty:. He's jumpy, which is understandable. I always feel so bad that they don't know why you've stuffed them in a carrier and poked and prodded and hurt them at the vets office.
My female cat is running around him in circles and sniffing him, he's hissing at her, she's trying to eat his food, he's trying to eat her food. It's a cat circus in the pigletto household.

Oh so glad your kitty is okay. I agree ditch the car!

We've been having a tough time with our cat. She's 10 and has been really sick she got a virus, super high fever of 40 degrees, fever blisters in her ears that burst and left her ears full of crud. she seems to be doing better, but is still refusing to eat. We are forcefeeding very high calorie canned food and she has had so many antibiotics and iv fluids to hydrate. She seems to be on the mend but still refuses to eat anything despite the appetite stimulants and such. She's lost most of the fur on her ears and around her eyes. and has shaved parts all on her fur. we're at close to $1000 in vet bills on her and 1 other cat that needed an antibiotic. Throw in the fact that there is a new puppy in the house... We have seen way too much of the vet in the past month.

I am so happy that your little fury family members are doing ok! I had a scare with my puppy and I know how awful it is. I'm so glad they found what was wrong and could begin to help your little one heal. If it helps (I hope it does :-) ) I purchased pet health insurance for my baby (my pup) Toby. I use PetPlan. I have to say it is a HUGE gift from the Lord to me. I was so pleased at how easy the claim form was to fill out and how fast my check for bills came. I hope i'm not being nosy but I know it helps me!

We had to take our dog to the vet after she developed a bit of a limp. She was also due for a rabies vaccination so that cost me $250 and I got sent home with some pain meds and arthritis meds that wound up doing nothing. I bought her some over the counter joint supplements and she's running around like a new puppy. :confused3

My cat had the same thing that pigletto had about 10 years ago. Thankfully we got through it without surgery but it was still a scary and expensive time. Another time he got ahold of some tinsel from the Christmas tree (we didn't realize cats ate that and Easter grass) and we thought he would need surgery to deal with the blockage but another $1000 in treatment and he got through that too. He's 17 now and still kicking! :thumbsup2

Okay, I think I've officially brainwashed my kids!! My youngest came home from school yesterday and said they had to pick a famous person to do a biography on - and he picked Walt Disney!! So we spent our evening at the library getting books about Walt - and spent all morning, over breakfast, tellling fun facts about him, Disney movies and the parks. What better way to pass my time :goodvibes

The pet insurance is a very good idea. We talked last night about putting another category in the budget just for pet emergencies, but maybe insurance is the way to go! I'll look into it today. :)

I can see the need for ADR's. I can not see why they need to be done 180 days in advance. I think honestly it's part of a strategy to get people to lock into a Disney vacation choice. If you hear the hype and the "Oh no! You won't get anything if you don't book waaayyyy in advance!!" stuff, you are more likely to book way ahead of time, make payments regularly and stay committed to a Disney trip IMO. They could easily make people make their ADR's even 30 days ahead of time.. but look at all those months people have time to make another vacation choice, or not save up the money and decide not to go. I think it's clever marketing really.

My cat developed crystals. After the initial lay out to get the crystals cleaned up with went with a Purina One that help with urinary track health. What we were paying at the vet was criminal. I'm happy to say Tiger never had the problem again and lived for 14 years.

I was interested in rates as well, but it appears PetPlan won't be available to residents of Ontario for a while yet:

Rut-ro! Petplan policies wont be available in Ontario until later this year. If youd like to be the first to know when Petplan is available in your area, please click here!

ETA.....have found a few other providers. Very interesting! Didn't even know they offered such a thing.

I'm sorry they aren't available in Ontario, that stinks! But I'm sure there are other really great ones more local to you! I have to say, I got my PetPlan when Toby was a baby and it really helps give me peace of mind in case he gets into something dangerous. I just LOVE animals soooo much! The only, ONLY, sad part about going to Disney is how much I miss my little Toby when i'm gone!:)

Question of the Day???
Do you want to/have you done Pick a Pearl at EP Japan or DTD? Will you/did you buy a necklace to put it in?

I <3 pick a pearl in Japan!! I've done it twice, the first time I got a black pearl and the second I got twins!! For the first one I bought a pin to put it in and I wear it with scarves. The twins I promised to share with my daughter so we got them put in two simple charms that we can each put in a necklace.

I hadn't given it much thought if I would do it again, but I probably will :)

We are hoping to do this for the first time this year! We are planning on getting it done in Japan for myself and our two girls. Not sure if we will buy something to put it in. I've seen Cinderalla coach cages, but I was thinking more along the lines of a cross cage. Unless I see something I really fall in love with, we will probably just keep them loose and figure it out later!

We are thinking of doing this. My dd is 4, so I think she would love the whole experience.
