Welcome to the newcomers to the thread and congrats to all of those who have paid off their trip! :cool1:

There was a thread posted yesterday that Jungle Cruise and Muppet Vision 3D will be closed for part or all of August. Muppet Vision will be out all of August and September and Jungle Cruise will be out the second half of August. We're going to MK the day before JC closes so we'll have to make it a point to hit that while we're there. Kinda bummed about MV3D since we skipped it last time and it's a great place to cool off in the heat (and a funny show too) but I guess they have to take things down sometime.

QOTD: Since tomorrow is the 24 hours of Disney would you consider going to a full day of Disney if it was happening during one of your trips? If it was scheduled every year would you try to put it into future plans?

I think I would love to try it, but I know my kids couldn't hang that long. :lmao: I'd be sucking Starbucks all night and moving right along and the kids would be dragging and cranky. Of course when they are teens and have the stamina for it I'd probably be too old to pull an allnighter! :rotfl: I don't know if I'd put it into my future plans because the next day would have to be a recovery day for sure.

First that sucks about MV3D we like that show for a rest time!

As for the 24 hrs yeah i'd do it if it was happening during my trip but i wouldn't plan my trip around it. My kids (preteens) would live it and try pretty hard to make it but likely get cranky and have to leave!

Ugh, that's awful about MV3D and JC (it's also a really long downtime for Muppet Vision)!

As for the QOTD, yes we would do a full day of Disney and we would try to put it in future plans if we could!

Welcome to our new August planning friends!! Jump right in. We move quick in here but we're a friendly bunch!:grouphug:

I don't think I would. If we were already there I might take advantage of the late late hours just to say we did. My kids can handle late nights. But none of us can handle zero sleep or more than a full regular day in the parks so we wouldn't try to do the whole thing.

Congrats to all those who paid off their trips!!!
I was going to make a big fat payment tomorrow, but then we had the $500 dollar cat vet bill. And to top this lovely week off my husband was in AGONY last night from a back tooth that he cracked.:sad2: Our dental insurance stinks while he's finishing this degree (done in January). It's a co-op program and he's in work placement right now. This is the time to shine ..not call in sick. So he loaded himself on pain meds and off to work he went this morning. They have him working serious overtime right now for a project deadline that he has to take in lieu time (he banked an extra 30 hours between last week and this week:scared:). So, long story short.. he booked his time for tomorrow and will be at the dentist when it opens. Likely another $500 or so there. There goes the trip payment.

Way worse things can happen... so I am pulling up my boot straps and being positive. I'll have to get creative with the budget though. Do you really think the kids need to eat 3 times a day? :lmao:

Hmm, I see the thread that started this rumor, but I can't seem to verify it anywhere else. I really hope it's not true, especially since the downtimes seem unusually long. We would miss both of them because of the dates of our trip. I usually verify downtimes through the DIS, so we'll see if they post the same information at some point: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm.

I know all about the vet bill. We just paid $700 for my cat's surgery! In all seriousness when we are in Disney we do 2 meals and then just snacks!

I'm wondering this myself. The washing machine decided to die yesterday and all signs point to it being completely unfixable. Our trip is paid off, but there goes $500 of August money towards a new machine.

Ours died last week blah! I will say this much, we got a great deal with Memorial Day sales so maybe it won't be too bad?

Sorry about your washing machine! I hope you can replace it inexpensively.
I bought a lower end Kenmore washing machine when my son was a baby. It has no bells and whistles, is white instead of stainless, but my son is 9 and we've had ZERO problems with it. I use that machine every day. So, there's hope for something that doesn't break the bank and is reliable:)

I just called the dentist back for my husband. He isn't going to make it through the day like this so he's headed home now to get it looked at. The good news is hopefully he will be out of pain very soon.

Just paid our balance too! It's the best feeling!!:cool1:

Woohoo! :woohoo: Way to go! :cool1:

Hi Everyone!

We (Me, DH, DD (12), and my mom) will be in the world from 8/6 - 8/9. We will be at CBR.

:welcome:

QOTD: Since tomorrow is the 24 hours of Disney would you consider going to a full day of Disney if it was happening during one of your trips? If it was scheduled every year would you try to put it into future plans?

I wish we were the kind of folks that could do so......but alas, we need our sleep. DH is a shiftworker so he might survive, but DS and I? Not a chance. I need at least 6 hours a night. DS needs at least 8. No amount of adrenaline or excitement could keep us up and going for a full day.

Oh pigletto, it it wasn't for bad luck you would have no luck at all!!! :sad2:

Here's hoping your DH gets some relief later, and that the dental bill isn't too much of a killer. And a little pixie dust pixiedust: that things turn around for you soon!

All these stories of woe have me a bit worried. Its like the Curse of the August Disers.

If I leave work today and my 11 year old car won't start , I'll know I've succumbed :scared: .

(have I mentioned I'm just a tad bit superstitious? :rolleyes1)

Wait until hurricane season starts. Then we can really get on a roll together again!:rotfl2:

My wife is the type that needs at least 6 hours of sleep at night and another 8 during the day to survive. :lmao:

For those that have appliance issues I can't recommend enough the forum at appliancezone.com. My dryer went out and they helped me trouble shoot it and got me the replacement part I needed for free. I'm not a handy guy by any stretch and I was able to get it fixed for less than what it would've cost just for the service visit.

You don't have any more little brothers whom the World Meterological Organization will want to name any future storms after, do you?!?!? :crazy2:

Funny you should ask as I was thinking about that last night. I am the oldest of 6. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters who's names haven't been used as hurricanes yet:rolleyes1

Well the bad news.. Dh's tooth got really really painful and he had to leave work. The good news? They made a spot for him at the dentist, he's feeling MUCH better and insurance covered 80%:cool1:. It's weird what it will and won't cover but it went through. So crisis averted for the day:)

Yeah!! If this was on FB, I'd hit the like button. :-)

I should know by Saturday. A friend's uncle is in the business of fixing them, so he will let us know the verdict then. If its destined for the appliance heap in the sky, I will be at our local Best Buy store 15 minutes after he leaves.

Thanks. It's just one of those aggravating things.

We have a front loader GE, which is supposed to be reliable, but apparently is not since the machine is only about 5 years old. I'm considering going back to the good old fashioned top loader. We don't have stainless appliances now anyway, especially since the washer and dryer are hidden away in the garage.
