I won't make ADRs until the 19th, but I'm curious to know if anyone is having issues making dining reservations with the new website.

I am also eligible on the 19th (are you arriving on the 18th? Just making sure I have my dates right!).

We will be in DTD for one day in May so I made an ADR for that day on the website a few weeks ago and it went fine. I hope it continues to be that easy.

I just downloaded a Disney countdown widget from the android store for my phone. It's SO cool! Now I have a constant count of the days passing until my vacation.

We booked our flights and the 4 of us on SouthWest from ALB will be just over $1,500 . Oy, wish their sale included our flights.

I got the phone numbers for the 3 red telephone booths in Epcot's England. My girls and I called them and spoke to random people who answered the phones. It was fun for them and us. We enjoyed finding out the weather and people's favorite ride. Our phone was on speaker so my girls got to ask questions.
Here's the numbers if you want to call with your kids and talk to ppl in Epcot England:
407-827-9861
407-827-9862
407-827-9863

I saw some people talking about doing this - it sounds like so much fun!

Seeing everyone's ADR's is making me both excited and nervous to book mine! We've decided today on doing surfing lessons at TL! :) has anyone does this before? :)

I have not done it personally, but I was with some people who did and they had a great time. If you go to youtube several people have videos of their experience posted. My DS12 wants to do it so badly. I told him if he pays for half, I'll get up and take him on our TL day.

Wow what a snow day! Home with the girls today for the coming storm.

I just played with the My Disney Experience App. on my phone. I had access to make reservations for August 17th our arrival day! Our Meal plan starts on the 18th. IF I had wanted to, and was willing to spend the $36-$55 per person, I would have had a dinner ADR for Fulton's Crab House!
Tomorrow I will get an ADR for 1900 Park Fare Character Breakfast!! Yippie!! God bless that 180 +10 !!

Then I posted AoA questions on the AoA board and was answered! There are lights in the headboard which light up the room and now my girls won't need to bring a lamp. And there really are 'fridges and TVs in the LM rooms!! Yippie!
Gonna bring snacks, and drink mixes and I am all fired up to plan the details. :dance3:

How did you have access to make ADRs for the 18th? I'm arriving on the 18th as well and I thought I had to wait until the 19th. Were you able to get them?

We are going August 20-31. 11 whole days in the world. We are DVC Members but rented out our points for the year so we could try out art of animation suites.

Quick question: the park hours linked to in the first post, where did you get them? The disney website does not currently have Magic Kingdom hours for August (it has all the other parks, grrr!)

These are the travel agent's hours, received from Disney before they are released to the general public

We are going Aug. 18 - 31 Can't wait!!!

We have early morning flights down...we prefer to hang out at our resort, unpack, swim, relax, walk around resort etc.... And go to bed early so we are up early the next day to hit the parks.

we have a later flight back home.... We like to sleep in, check out and head to DTD before hopping on the magical express.

We will be getting there on the 18th too!!

Oh, oh, oh I wanna join! :D

We are staying at AoA from Aug 19-23. So, so so excited. :cool1:

:thumbsup2

Yes, we are checking in August 18th!

I can't wait to be able to make my ADRs. Here is my list:

BOG (dinner)
Ohana (dinner)
Le Cellier (dinner)
Tusker House (lunch)
Chef Mickey's (dinner)
Raglan Road (dinner)
Cape May (breakfast)
HDDR
1900 Park Fare (breakfast)
Kona (breakfast)
50's Prime Time (lunch)
Sci-Fi (dinner)
Saana (dinner)

For the 50's Prime Time lunch is that a TS credit?

Yes, it is one TS credit. As of right now we are not doing the DDP. If FD comes up, then that will be a nice bonus, but we are planning to pay OOP on these.

For us, paying full price for the DDP is not worth it. We like appetizers more than desserts, and will sometimes just order an app or two for dinner. And even if we do get dessert, there is absolutely no need for 5 desserts for each meal! We would share one or two. We (the adults) tend to have a glass of wine or a drink with dinner, so there goes the "free" soft drink, and otherwise I drink water. So unless it's free or heavily discounted, it no longer works for us at $55/day times five people.

Boy, was I wrong! Friday my phone's My Disney Experience app let me pick dates up until the 17th of August for planning an ADR, however it wouldnt take a ADR for the 18th on Saturday! Called Sat am & CM said Feb 19th. So disapointed.
Luckly I am on vacation the week of the 18th so I can make my ADRs on the 19th.

Just read on another board that the My Disney Experience phone app cant take ADRs for character meals & dinner shows because it cant take credit card #'s to hold the ressie, but the IPad app can. I sware it's like a mental agility test just to eat.

So I just realized that the morning I can make my ADRs is the first morning of our upcoming trip and we're going to AK for rope drop.:rolleyes1
I normally wouldn't worry about rope drop for AK but it's the Saturday of Presidents Day week and the last day of the trip for a lot of people and the parks will be busy. So I better get up an hour early and have a list ready.:rolleyes1

The only ones that will be really important to get will be Ohana, BOG, and perhaps a Fantasmic package at the time I want.
But I better look at the crowd calendars and get an idea of where we'll want to be each day.

My mom needs to attend a Catholic vigil mass Saturday Aug 17th.
I googled and found a Ukrainian Catholic church not far from the World.
She'll take a taxi.
This was origionally a question, but I edited once I found the info.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

The day you arrive and the day you depart the World will you hang at the hotel pool or squeeze in a park visit? How much time do you expect to have at either location on those days?

Hello all. First post in this board. We are going to be in WDW August 4th-9th, staying at AofA Little Mermaid. This is my first trip ever, my daughter's (she will be 4) first trip, and J's (dh) first trip back in over 12 years.

We are buying tickets with the intent of going to the parks on the days we arrive and leave. I've already book our CRT breakfast for our departure day actually.

I am so glad to have discovered the DIS boards, they have been a huge help in learning the "ins and outs" of planning a Disney vacation.

Welcome!!
I am so happy to see new faces in our planning thread.. and first time trip planners!! All of the info can be very overwhelming at first, but settle in, ask any question you have and we'll help you plan an amazing trip.

We took a cab from the airport to HRH and then two days later over to the BC and it was easy and not too expensive. There are five of us, and we had no problem getting a cab. The only issue is the two kids in boosters. They won't require it, but I know you would probably feel safer.

:thumbsup2 I stayed there many years ago - your daughter will love it!

You guys will have a blast!!!!

We are excited to be staying at AKV Kidani Village, Aug. 19-26 and spending 2 nights at a Universal Studios hotel. We hope to go to Sea World for the first time too. :yay: We will be driving, about a 22 hour drive.

Our dates are August 23-30th. Celebrating little girl turning the big old age of 7. Staying at All star Music. First time at the resort. See ya there.

We were absolutely not going this year....really....honest...

Booked the first half of our trip yesterday :rotfl2:

Since DH is starting a new job (tomorrow!) just the boys and I will spend the first 5 nights at CSR (8/10-8/15). Then we plan to move to the Poly for the 15th thru the 17th. Can't make my ADRs for a few more days, but planning on dinners at Ohana, Cape May Buffet, Crystal Palace and TRex, lunch at Chefs de France and Big River Grille. Nothing else decided yet...

We stayed DVC last August and didn't see a bounce back offer, but maybe you don't get them in the DVC rooms?? So, still hoping for a good room discount or free dining :worship:

We are staying at he Poly Aug 5-10. Anyone have crowd experience for this week? We have done Christmas in the World so im not scared! ;) Just want to know how much to plan. Thanks!:goodvibes

Can I join? Just finished booking the flights so it's now official!!

It's our first adult-only trip to WDW so I'm super excited about this one! We went with our 4 kids for the first time Sept 2011, then again Dec 2012 so it'll be our 3rd time there.

We're going Aug.23-30, staying at most likely Yacht Club. Hoping to get resort/tickets booked tomorrow!

If you could just let me know what resort you're going to be at I can add you to the list!

So sorry I havent been around much lately, I feel like I've been neglecting you all
But! I got everyone added to the resort list and the first 2 people added to the ADR list. Make sure you post or PM me your ADRs and I can get them added. I promise I will be around more often now :goodvibes

Can you make your adrs at the concierge desk at your hotel at 7 am? We did this when we were in Disney and the BOG adrs opened. It was easy to do in person:)

Departure day -Character Breakfast and mid day flight

That's so weird that you were able to pick a date up to the 17th...must have been a glitch. Again so weird that the phone app can't and the ipad app can. But I've noticed I can access my reservations on my ipad app, but not on my phone app. I made an ADR for the day we will be there in May online just using my computer and going to the website, and it went through very easily.

So I just realized that the morning I can make my ADRs is the first morning of our upcoming trip and we're going to AK for rope drop.:rolleyes1

If you have an ipad with you, you can make them as you go. I know it's probably not your first choice, but it may make it doable. Otherwise I would just get on your phone and call while you are in transit. I would try to get the popular ones out of the way and then make the rest later from your resort.

My mom needs to attend a Catholic vigil mass Saturday Aug 17th.

This was origionally a question, but I edited once I found the info.

I remember being young and going to Mass at the Poly, but I don't think they do that anymore. This is the closest church and is supposedly beautiful (not sure if it's the same one): National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, 8300 Vineland Avenue, Orlando, Fl 32821. You can get a cab from your resort and Disney can arrange a return cab as well.

Welcome! How exciting to be going on your first trip!!! I am so glad you found us here too - so many people come to me when planning their first trip, and I always point there here and all ears, and they are usually so overwhelmed they don't pay attention to the advice here and then can't figure out why they have no ADRs and no clue where they are going ;)

So sorry I havent been around much lately, I feel like I've been neglecting you all

QUESTION OF THE DAY

The day you arrive and the day you depart the World will you hang at the hotel pool or squeeze in a park visit? How much time do you expect to have at either location on those days?

On arrival day, we try to spend the day unpacking, swimming, eating, and exploring!:goodvibes We find that this helps us to be well rested and ready to spend the next 7 days going "commando" through the parks! We generally take a late afternoon flight home (5:30ish). So on departure day , we pack up, check out of our resort, and spend the next few hours at Downtown Disney. We shop, use up any dining/snack credits that we have left and grab delicious sandwiches from EoS to have for dinner on the plane before heading back to the resort to catch the Magical Express.
