Hmmmm... I know nothing new on race day is the rule, but I'm starting to think I might switch out my black cherry chews for the margarita chews with extra sodium. I'm already taking my Saltstick tabs. But even in 60* my last long run I was so salty/sweaty. It sounds like there aren't a ton of newbies here and everyone knows what they are doing, but I can't stress enough that it's not just about hydrating and drinking water during the race.
You have to replace your electrolytes too. As soon you start to feel chills, STOP AND WALK. In fact, even if you aren't normally a run-walker, consider taking some walk breaks and take them early. And thank goodness it's at NIGHT and not in the sun.
For me - and I hate to be a whiner - but I hope you will all forgive me. I'm really a little depressed that we are going to have to slow down and that it might be so humid. I really wanted redemption this year. Princess 2014 and W&D 2013 were SO humid for me that at W&D I literally got sick and at Princess I ran/walked so slow to avoid getting sick that it wasn't even that much fun anymore. Hopefully the dynamic of it being a night race and general party atmosphere will make it more enjoyable than just running through cloudy mist at 6:30am trekking to from Epcot to MK and back. I had such an awesome time at W&D 2012 that I really wanted to recapture that feeling. I'm trying to look on the bright side, perhaps I'll slow down enough that I will REALLY be feeing good for the after party - which I still haven't made it to - foot injury in 2012.
Also, I just want to add this odd tidbit - even if it isn't wet out, watch out for exiting the AK parking lot. One year, despite no rain, there was still a HUGE puddle in the parking lot. no clue why, but not fun to find out at the last minute and either run in it, or have to do a 90 degree turn to avoid it.
