Well we always like to go early June- the discounts usually run through the 15th (we also have a PIN that goes through the 7th), a lot of schools are still in session, and maybe it's a degree or two cooler. Just found out SW has one nonstop from Omaha to MCO every Saturday. I'd like to book that if they continue that into the summer, so we are looking at a Saturday-Saturday trip. We'd normally pick the 4th-11th.
HOWEVER, DD14 really wants to go on the band/choir trip to Memphis & New Orleans and that is 6/4-6/9! Which pushes us back to 6/11-6/18 if we let her go. I guess if a public discount runs through the 15th as it has in the past we might still be able to get a partial discount. I would like to go earlier, but would feel bad about telling her she can't take that trip just because we don't want to push ours back a week. Gotta decide on the choir trip by 12/1. SW releases our dates on 12/8, and the early June discount will probably come out around the first of the year.
You've probably already made a decision one way or another by now, but I wanted to mention that we've gone to Disney during the 3rd or 4th week in June five times over the last 10 years or so (most recently in June 2015) and we've always gotten some sort of discount. The discount rates for late June usually don't come out until March/April, but there is usually a discount offered during that time. If your trip is scheduled during 2 different discount periods, you might have to book 2 separate reservations to get each of the discounts (which means you have to check out and check back in during your stay and you might have to change rooms). We had that happen this past June. There was one discount offered for the first 2 nights of our stay and then the new discount for the final 5 nights of our stay. We were going to book 2 separate reservations and take the risk of having to change rooms because we were going to save $200 by getting a discount for the final 5 nights of our stay. However, I ended up getting a PIN/UOC code that covered all of June and was a larger discount than the general public offering so that eliminated the risk of needing to change rooms mid-way through our stay.
Preferred rooms are often not included in the discounts, but the good news is that the Royal Rooms are, and end up cheaper than the full preferred rate. Also, since they are all in buildings 90 & 95 (I think I have those numbers right), they are almost as close to the amenities as the preferred rooms anyway.I decided I wanted a preferred room at POR, so I went ahead and booked room-only last night for 6/11-17. Hoping if discounts come out in a few weeks that I will be able to apply to the preferred category! I was going to wait so I wouldn't have to call in to ask about the discount, but I also wanted to get an early BOG breakfast so I wanted to get a little jump on that by having my 180+10. I did get an 8:00 am breakfast for 6/14!

I thought discounts would have been out by now
I heard tomorrow as well but there was no information to back up the rumor. I wonder how Monday was on the radar.
7 am on the phone, right? Do they post earlier on the website?
