After the most amazing Champagne tasting EVAAAAHHHHHH we went back up to our cabin and got all decked out for Pirate night- ARGHHHHHH! I think it's pretty funny that ALL of us, whether we had cruised DCL before or not, seemed to be able to put together a pirate costume for that night very easily because ALL of us had one. (Even if 3 out of 4 DISmoms seem to have broken fingers or broken computers or SOMETHING that has made them COMPLETELY mute in this TR........they all make great pirates!). See?
I love that pic! Our pirate dinner was held in the Royal Palace- such a pretty restaurant. Not very pirate-ish, but still a gorgeous space. Beverages were being sold in keepsake flashy pirate glasses, and of course, we all got one-
Mine is no longer flashy, Pods stuck it in the dishwasher about a week after I got home. Oh well. Still love a man willing to do the dishes, ya know? Joan was REALLY in touch with her pirate side-
Our choices for appetizers were-
Black Beard's Jumbo Crab Cake - with golden raisin-carrot and coconut slaw served with a spicy Calypso dressing
Pirates Golden "Pot Stickers" - oriental pork "dumplings" deep fried and served with a tamarind-ginger soy sauce and pickled vegetables
Pearls of the Caribbean - crabmeat, shrimp and salmon mixed in pearls of couscous with lemon grass infused vinaigrette
And I had Jerk Chicken Salad - jerk-seasoned chicken strips over fresh crispy greens with a citrus dressing and plantain chips
There were also soups. Caribbean-style Conch Chowder - with sherry, sweet peppers, onions, tomatoes, thyme, and garnished with diced potatoes and crispy bacon bits
and Chilled-to-the-bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup
Now, the only entree I have a photo of is Jack Sparrow's Barbecue Marinated Beef Short Ribs - Rubbed beef short rips with tamarind-barbecue sauce and served with onion red bliss mashed potatoes and plantain chip
Which I don't believe was even my entree- I think it was Kara's. But that's no doubt because everyone else at the table was taking pics of the food, so I figured I wouldn't repeat what they already had. I did take a pic of the dining room, though- but there are very few pirates out there? Didn't they get the memo? Do think think they're on HAL? First they don't dance, THEN they don't wear the bandanas! SHEESH... WHO? Who doesn't wear de ribbon? (Sorry- obscure Seinfeld reference. Haven't had one of those in a while!)
Time for dessert! Rum Soaked Chocolate Cake - with raspberry glaze and whipped cream
Fruit Cobbler - with vanilla ice cream
Crunch Time Sundae - Rum Raisin Ice Cream, Pineapple, Whipped Cream and Croquant
Say what you will about my Princess Leia of the previous night, but, no matter what, I think Miss Kara is still queen of the ITSK-
Once again, we were treated to some disney magic, courtesy of the dining room's most dashing pirate, Roland!
A great server is a beautiful thing, isn't it?
Cammie was VERY impressed!
Up next....who's dancin at Pirate Night? 3 wenches, that's who......
