DISmoms 4 - The Hunt for Jack Sparrow

After the most amazing Champagne tasting EVAAAAHHHHHH we went back up to our cabin and got all decked out for Pirate night- ARGHHHHHH! I think it's pretty funny that ALL of us, whether we had cruised DCL before or not, seemed to be able to put together a pirate costume for that night very easily because ALL of us had one. :thumbsup2 (Even if 3 out of 4 DISmoms seem to have broken fingers or broken computers or SOMETHING that has made them COMPLETELY mute in this TR....:confused3....they all make great pirates!). See?

I love that pic! Our pirate dinner was held in the Royal Palace- such a pretty restaurant. Not very pirate-ish, but still a gorgeous space. Beverages were being sold in keepsake flashy pirate glasses, and of course, we all got one-

751.jpg

Mine is no longer flashy, Pods stuck it in the dishwasher about a week after I got home. Oh well. Still love a man willing to do the dishes, ya know? Joan was REALLY in touch with her pirate side-

754.jpg

Our choices for appetizers were-

Black Beard's Jumbo Crab Cake - with golden raisin-carrot and coconut slaw served with a spicy Calypso dressing

756.jpg

Pirates Golden "Pot Stickers" - oriental pork "dumplings" deep fried and served with a tamarind-ginger soy sauce and pickled vegetables

755.jpg

Pearls of the Caribbean - crabmeat, shrimp and salmon mixed in pearls of couscous with lemon grass infused vinaigrette

757.jpg

And I had Jerk Chicken Salad - jerk-seasoned chicken strips over fresh crispy greens with a citrus dressing and plantain chips

760.jpg

There were also soups. Caribbean-style Conch Chowder - with sherry, sweet peppers, onions, tomatoes, thyme, and garnished with diced potatoes and crispy bacon bits

758.jpg

and Chilled-to-the-bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup

759.jpg

Now, the only entree I have a photo of is Jack Sparrow's Barbecue Marinated Beef Short Ribs - Rubbed beef short rips with tamarind-barbecue sauce and served with onion red bliss mashed potatoes and plantain chip

762.jpg

Which I don't believe was even my entree- I think it was Kara's. But that's no doubt because everyone else at the table was taking pics of the food, so I figured I wouldn't repeat what they already had. I did take a pic of the dining room, though- but there are very few pirates out there? Didn't they get the memo? Do think think they're on HAL? First they don't dance, THEN they don't wear the bandanas! SHEESH... WHO? Who doesn't wear de ribbon? (Sorry- obscure Seinfeld reference. Haven't had one of those in a while!)

763.jpg

764.jpg

Time for dessert! Rum Soaked Chocolate Cake - with raspberry glaze and whipped cream

766.jpg

Fruit Cobbler - with vanilla ice cream

767.jpg

Crunch Time Sundae - Rum Raisin Ice Cream, Pineapple, Whipped Cream and Croquant

768.jpg

765.jpg

Say what you will about my Princess Leia of the previous night, but, no matter what, I think Miss Kara is still queen of the ITSK-

769.jpg

771.jpg

Once again, we were treated to some disney magic, courtesy of the dining room's most dashing pirate, Roland!

772.jpg

A great server is a beautiful thing, isn't it?

Cammie was VERY impressed!

Up next....who's dancin at Pirate Night? 3 wenches, that's who......

OK, still don't know how I overlooked the hottie at the pool....

Love the champagne. We had a bottle of Moet Chandon at our wedding (a gift from our boss). People who say you can't taste the difference between cheap champagne and expensive champagne have never had the good stuff!

I'd love to try that Ice sometime!:thumbsup2 Now if only they'd ever sell it in Ohio...:confused3

AAARRGH! That's one ITSK wench!

I really should not be reading Ellen's TR's right before dinner. Makes me start snacking. It is worst than buying groceries right before lunch. :sad2: You ladies are so beautiful in your headgear! Too pretty to be pirates.

OMG I just about spit all over my screen with that picture of Kara. (Sorry Kara). But that is one funny picture! :lmao:

OMG....there is a huge difference! There are some reasonable priced sparklers that are pretty good, though- Gruet has good ones, and they're from New Mexico!

I'd love to try that Ice sometime!:thumbsup2 Now if only they'd ever sell it in Ohio...:confused3

You may have to wait a looooong time for it to come to Ohio! But I hear it's at the Champagne & Dessert booth at F&W- so ya never know!

AAARRGH! That's one ITSK wench!

Thank-you. From the bottom of my heart, thank-you for healing your fingers!

You definitely had a LOT of fun at Pirate Night! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yes we did!

Well, it's technically Kara's TR, but she has been working like a nut lately, so I'm just trying to keep it moving along....:goodvibes

And yes- no one can sport head gear like Peas & Carrots! :rotfl:

She sure has been blessed with a photographic face...

It was a great time!:thumbsup2:dance3:

So order one of each! :cheer2:

Plane ticket are purchased for next year's adventure.....got them for a song too.

Great news! I am waiting to hear what time Drea is leaving- I have a lot of plane options, and I want to try and book when everyone else is leaving. I should arrive at 10:30 am, though, unless they bump up the price before I can book- but we are almost at the 6 month mark- so I have to think that airline will release it's schedule soon. :confused3

So, I'm going to get in touch with the AKV Concierge and have them book Bistro de Paris on Friday night and Sanaa for Saturday night- do you and Loni want anything for Sunday night? Ironically, I will be staying at AKV in a GV the day our window opens- too bad I can't just run upstairs and talk with them in person!

I'll have to check with her and see. Nothing really pops out at me that I have to do so I will check with her and see.

I wish I could join you ladies but I think that's the same week hubby is going to get home from his deployment. We had planned on the Fantasy for the 5th but had to cancel because we never know how long it will take him to get home. Hope you ladies have a blast and maybe someday I can join in on the fun. I could use a some Cinco de Drinko.

I am so happy that he will be coming home! How long is his deployment? How's the baby?

His deployment is going to be 6 months from the date he arrives at his final destination. He's still in transit after training. Lilly is doing great. I just started back to work and she loves the day care on base. They do such a great job. She's been getting over her first ear infection so sleep has been fleeting for both of us but the antibiotics have kicked in and she seems to be getting better. :)

... book Bistro de Paris on Friday night
FYI, don't forget that Bistro is undergoing a refurb by then and the menu will change fairly drastically. Rumor has it that it will no longer be upscale French but it will be more low country so as to bring more families into the restaurant. :sad2:

Ahhhh...ear infections. Is she teething yet? Timmy had sooooooo many ear infections- he ended up getting tubes at 11 months. What we discovered about him was that because he was born with the cord around his neck, he had something called torticollis- so his head was kind of tilted to the right, and whenever he was getting a tooth, all that extra saliva would pool in his right ear and bingo! Ear infection. Hope Lilly starts sleeping again for you soon!

And I'm looking forward to hearing about your happy reunion in May.:)

Yes, I had heard that, and I'm curious how it will be changed, that's why I want to go! :thumbsup2 Lonnie and I had a very nice dinner there a few years ago, I am sorry I will never get the chance to have as romantic of a meal at Bistro with Pods, though! I really hope they don't make it too much like Chefs'- that is one of the few Disney restaurants that I do not like at all. I love French food, and when I have eaten at Chefs' it reminded me of cafeteria food. Just not impressed.

It was time for the Pirate Party! Three of us couldn't wait to get there- Kara and I were interested to see how different it was from the party on the Magic, and Joanie...well, Joanie just likes to party! party: Cammie said she wasn't in the mood, and preferred to go watch tv in the cabin instead. So the three of us went up to do some dancin with some pirates...AAARRRRRRGH!!

ONCE AGAIN, we danced to the Curly- I mean, Cupid Shuffle, and then oohed and aaahed over the fireworks. But no Mickey swooping down from above to save the day, and I have to say, I for one, really missed that part. We did manage to go look at the buffet, but being late diners, there was no way any of us were hungry for it. Here are some pics, tho-

YUMMMMMM.....soooo good. Can't wait to have one again in March!

We got back to the cabin, and Cammie was watching Jimmy Kimmel Live. When he was done, it was lights out- tomorrow was Castaway Cay, and we needed to rest up for our big day on Serenity Bay....
