catho72: Is there a reason that Yachtsman is off the table???
I haven't eaten there, but I do have an ADR for July, am I making a mistake???
Yachtsman seems to get some mixed reviews, and I can tell you I am one of those giving them!
First meal there in 2008 was ok. I had high expectations based on reviews I read as well as the fact it was a signature dining location. The steak was just okay (actually pretty fatty) and service was also just okay. We definitely had better meals that visit at Narcoossee's and Flying Fish.
Staying at BC we were willing to try again in 2009. It was a fantastic dinner. Loved the steak and now I understood where the good reviews had come from. Service was a little slow, but the quality meal made up for that and we all left happy.
We skipped Yachtsman in 2010, had an amazing steak dinner at Shula's that year.
Skipped in 2011 and decided to go back to Yachtsman in 2012. Very disappointed. My steak came out cold. Really. The side of potatoes was nice and hot but the steak was cold. Waiter questioned me like that truly couldn't be, but I think I know what a hot steak tastes like. So I sat and ate potatoes while they sent it back to the kitchen. That is a lot of money to have to ask for a hot steak.
And the thing was, there was another diner i overheard complaining to the waiter or manager about their meal earlier and all I was thinking to myself is they must be being high maintenance. Felt foolish for thinking that once I felt disappointed in my meal as well.
So after going 1 for 3, I don't think we'll be returning any time soon. Would much rather spend that kind of money at Flying Fish (their steak was actually very good) or a little more at Shula's. We will, however, return to Crews Cup which is in the same great location but with better results each time we've eaten there.
Others have certainly had good meals there but for us, the risk is not worth the amount of cash it takes to give it another whirl.
