    Alaska vs. Panama Canal

As noted earlier, it is an apples to oranges choice. Having done both, I would choose a longer cruise without a compelling reason not to.

    Cancelling a shore excursion....

I have to add the same caution but want to praise Disney CM's who made extraordinary efforts to find another excursion for my family after a mistake in departure time that was entirely our fault. There was no expectation in those circumstances that any refund would apply so we were grateful to...

Inside Stateroom vs Deluxe Inside Stateroom

I stayed in a Wonder sideways cabin with my two grandsons (14 and 6) and we were perfectly comfortable; it did have the curtain. I understand that there is not the same centered door option on the newer ships which I feel changes both the perception and use of the space.

    Questions about the Wonder

There was no issue using the 'secret' Deck 7 in Alaska. I intensely dislike Parrot Cay- it is so noisy, table conversation is impossible and there is no air circulation in the back. I was assured many complaints had been noted and would be addressed in the re-design.

    Palo brunch ?

Given the anxiety often expressed here about trying to snag a Palo reservation, I was amazed on our Alaska sailing to see a great number of empty tables even though reservations appeared limited or non-existent online. Perhaps the different Alaska vibe has some effect on bookings.

    Magic hairdryers = Dream hairdryers?

I was quite surprised to find a 'real' hair dryer with attachments in its own bag in a drawer on the Wonder a week ago. With all the complaints about the wall mounted one in the bathrooms I don't remember hearing about this addition to the cabins (during the recent refurbishing?)

    Wonder Scavenger Hunt

It was actually a fun thing to do with younger kids but we didn't realize that it ended on Frozen night. Our cabin steward had to explain we had already received our treat before we began the hunt.LOL The kids wouldn't touch it anyway- a big rice krispy disc with a Frozen logo on white...

    Ask Me Anything

Just off the Wonder and the kids (6,10 and 14) had to be bribed to leave their clubs...they had a really magical cruise. Thank you to all the wonderful counselors!! The 14 yr old wrote his own letter for the comments box when he was told the best way to thank the couselors was to mention them by...

Palo Brunch - Anyone been lately?

Palo brunch on the Wonder last week was serve yourself.

    Alaska too warm and wet

I think you mean the SW24 Disney excursion which is a ground based tour using a wheeled sled. I booked directly with Temsco for the helicopter to their glacier based dog camp which is much more weather dependent.

    Alaska too warm and wet

Given that the camp was already gone days ago, there was nothing to hope for about it working out. Assuming a significant number of people would be affected ( 4 ships in port that day) I would guess there would be quite a scramble to adjust bookings.

    Alaska too warm and wet

Temsco has already broken down their dog musher camp and cancelled our Skagway tour that was anticipated to be the highlight of our 8/24 trip. I am grateful to have had time to re-book a glacier tour with them instead but remain sad about missing the dogs. I was surprised to see nothing posted...

**** Vancouver FAQ Thread **** A few updates in main post!

I may have seen the answer somewhere earlier but could someone clarify if the porters taking luggage on arrival are Disney employees or independent contractors who should be tipped?

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

I called to clarify if purchases conforming to the new guidelines and purchased in ports of call could be consumed in cabin. Yes, you may drink it during the remainder of the cruise.

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

Do I understand the new policy correctly that you MAY consume the purchases permitted aboard at each port? If so, is it time for a thread identifying retailers at ports of call? I think there may be confusion between duty free purchases that are held for disembarkation and the limited quantity...

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

I am now checking the refund policy for my bottle of port which Princess introduced me to decades ago and has ever since meant sailing. Compared to other lines, I have appreciated the family friendly Disney vibe but older grandkids and the economy mean it's time to explore cheaper options after...

How are you bringing Alcohol on board?

In this thread http://www.disboards.com/threads/recent-wonder-cruisers-question-about-the-fridge.3431084/#post-54248885 posters have made clear that frigs have not been installed as had been assumed. This is one of the little things that irritate given the higher cost of Disney.
