We did the dessert party last year. The desserts were really good. Plus they had drinks and coffee, etc. The view of the fireworks was worth it. I have never liked standing around waiting for MK fireworks, but I love the view from inside MK. This worked for us! Try it and enjoy!

I have never seen any advantage to going direct, assuming you are not financing. I would say to be careful to get the same use year if you can, if you are adding on. That is easy when you add on direct, but it all depends on inventory when you add on through resale.

We knew that we would go every other year, at least, for 10 or 12 years. Do the math, and remember that the points are rentable for years you can't go.

I had a cancellation, so I have these points. Must be used by 3/31/2010. Would rather rent than use myself. I will make reservation. I will have to check on whether I could transfer. Thanks!

Disappointing to hear that you had that experience. I have both resale and direct points, and they work the same way.

If you are not using the home resort window, don't worry about that. Just focus on what you need - number of points available, use year (though I only imagine that matters if you already have a use year or if there are points left from the current use year). Good luck.
