Early October Dining booking issues?

I was able to book ours finally! Got everything we wanted except Rainforest cafe for dinner the night we arrive. It doesn't seem available any days though so I am starting to wonder if you can even book it in advance for dinner.

Disney Dining doesn't handle Rainforest Cafe, they can be booked directly or (I think) through Open Table. Always more reservation availability for Downtown Disney by calling direct or using Open Table, these aren't Disney-owned properties and they only set aside part of their tables for Disney Dining.

Trust me, none of these places is booked up months or weeks ahead of time. Most DLR attendances are locals who make last-minute reservations all the time.

Someone beat me to it...but I'll post none-the-less.

UPDATE: I finally just booked RBT for Fantasmic 10/24.

I do find it interesting that they apparently not going to offer a Fantasmic mid-week to make up for only offering it one night the weekend of the 24th. Right now it looks like that's the only night Fantasmic will show between 10/19 and 10/29. I hope that's an indication that they expect crowds to be way down. They are doing Fantasmic 2 nights in the middle of the week that first week of the month.

We are at DL from the 18th-25- I was just starting to get organized and was thinking that there would only be Fantasmic on the 24th- I'm thinking booking a dining package would be a very good idea?

I'm thinking it will be pretty heavily attended since it's the only one that weekend. You could do a fastpass instead of the dining plan, but we wanted to be sure to have a good viewing area, so we're doing the dinner package.

We've never seen it, so that's what I was thinking also...

What do you think the chances are they will let DD11 order from childs menu at BB- with the exchange (we are from Canada) the cost is very large for her, given how much she will probably eat- is there a little leniency on kids age for kids meals?

Edited to add: wow the costumes for your DD are AMAZING! Do you make them?

Just called this morning and booked my FINAL reservation: F! at RBT on the 4th. So. Friggin'. Happy! I did toy with doing F! on the Tuesday, but we already have anniversary plans sans children that night, so we'll have our romantical dinner at Steakhouse, then a few wobbly pops at Trader Sam's before picking up the kids and maybe wandering back over to see F! without a special meal (but we'll grab some FP's that morning for the show just in case).

You'll have to see if someone else can comment on the kid meals. My experience has been that they are pretty strict on special event dining. I imagine they would let her order the items on the kids meals, but in larger portions at the larger adult price. I have had the same issue with my DD since she turned 10. She's a grazer, so it's hard to justify the high prices on some of these things.

And thanks for the kind words on the costumes. Yes, I make them myself. :) I'm working on Halloween costumes for us now!

She's actually a good eater and wouldn't have issues with the actual food on the adult menu, but would be more than happy with some pasta and chicken, for a fraction of the cost- know what I mean ;)

I was so excited when I saw the schedule for the first week of October include Fantasmic for both Tues and Thurs that week so we wouldn't have to use one of our 5 days in the park on Sunday to just catch Fantasmic with BB package (we won't be at DLR until later Sun afternoon). We made a reservation for Tuesday but I just got a call from BB letting me know they just found out the Fantasmic shows for both Tuesday and Thursday had been cancelled. First he offered to reschedule me for Friday's show but I let him know there probably wouldn't be a show that day since there is a MHP that night. He said he had just rescheduled someone else for Friday so there should be. I didn't take the chance and just scheduled for Sunday the 4th so we wouldnt have to reschedule again and back to our original plans of not going to the park on Wed morning and just going to the MHP that day...so 6 park days instead of just 5. :)

That's ridiculous. They were so slow to get ADRs added and they STILL got it wrong? :faint:

I wonder how long it will take them to catch their Friday error.

I also got a call about Tuesday 10/6 cancelled. However, I already had reservations for Thursday 10/8 and he said Thursday was ok. I just pulled up to book and 10/8 is still showing as a date for packages. I hope they don't cancel 10/8 :)

I asked if 10/8 was available as this would be my first choice and he said that was also cancelled. Good luck.

Then they need to get their act together. Just a minute ago when I looked, 10/6 isn't showing available for ADRs now (it was earlier today) but 10/8 is.

After they called me about 3pm PT, I checked online. 10/6 was no longer an option, but 10/8 and Thursday 10/15 still show available. These are the fall break weeks for a lot of AZ, and it is usually very busy. They may be anticipating this. Fingers crossed!

Are both weeks likely to be busy? I was hoping the 5th and 6th wouldn't be too bad x

They were real sticklers on the ages for kids meals at Storytellers in the GCH. They did, however, allow my daughter to order off the kids menu at an increased price, but it was still the same amount of food....just extra charge. I have to admit, I was pretty annoyed as I had heard the amount of food increases with the increased price.

I think it will be fairly busy. With Gay Days the first weekend and the hotel discounts all that week and add the fall breaks and MHP, all points to higher crowds. I am hoping not too bad, but probably not light.
