We Came, We Saw, We ATE The World! 11 Nights Dlx DP *9/2 Yak & Yeti*

I may be one of the few people that have consistently had pretty good experiences at Tony's but I have to admit that I keep going back for the pistachio crème brulee! Oh so good.

My DD has ordered the shrimp scampi the last couple of times that we have been there.

Sounds like the perfect spot to dine and watch MSEP. :thumbsup2

It was a great time and oh my, that crème brulee is to die for.

I'm a new pescatarian too:thumbsup2 Looking forward to your reviews:goodvibes

Congratulations! I promise, lots og good fish and veggie items to come!

One of my favorite breakfast spots from last trip was a bit unexpected! I knew right away that I needed to go back!

So off we were to The Wave at The Contemporary this morning!

Since our plan was to "drink around the world" throughout the day, we knew that a solid breakfast was needed.

I really had wanted to try the buffet (I'm a girl that usually likes to sample!) but what I was really after was some eggs benedict, because last time, the hollondaise sauce really knocked my socks off.

They sent a chef out for us, and we explained that we were pretty comfortable with what to avoid (sadly no grits for us, they were loaded with bacon.) I mentioned that I had really wanted the buffet to sample a few things, but that what I wanted most was some eggs benedict without the ham (like a wierdo.) Really, I would have been happy with a glass of that hollondaise for breakfast.

The chef (I REALLY wish I had gotten his name!) very kindly offered to make me some eggs on an english muffin with the sauce, or he said he could make me a smoked salmon eggs benedict and he said he would bring out my special order and I could still enjoy the buffet.

With that in mind, we both ended up getting the buffet.

My first plate consisted of (clockwise from top left) fresh pineapple, which was incredibly fresh, a sticky bun, emphasis on the sticky and it was equally delicious, sweet potato pancakes with honey pecan butter, they are like a pumpkin pie in a pancake form and are one of my favorites, and some smoked salmon and hard boiled egg.

Megan was feeling the need for some healthy food this morning and went with some fruit and veg and a small pastry.

After a few minutes, my masterpiece finally arrived...

The eggs were cooked perfectly, the salmon was nice and chilled still, and the hollondaise was perfection. The muffin was also cut SUPER thin, not at all like the thick, dense ones I find in the store. It was amazing and left me feeling not overly full. I resisted the urge to lick my plate!

For a little additional protein, I also ordered this as my beverage...

Mega-Berry Smoothie - Raspberry Puree and Nonfat Yogurt blended with Odwalla Berries GoMega (an excellent source of Omega-3) $4.99

It was delicious!

All in all, a GREAT meal here. The food was all hot and fresh, and the place is mostly deserted!

I may have to find a day to have breakfast here for my DD19 and my DM. They both LOVE eggs benedict! The fruit looks delish and there is nothing like a FL strawberry IMO.;) Thanks for another great review:goodvibes

Yum those eggs Benedict look amazing! Also I agree a hearty breakfast is a requirement when one drinks around the world haha ;)

Your Tonys meal looks so good. A friend of mine was just telling me the other day that they love Tonys. It's never been on my radar.

The Wave is on my list for a trip without the kids. Have no idea when that would be, but I want to try those sweet potato pancakes.

You're welcome!

It definitely helped us out to have a good base!

You will love it, but I agree, not a great place for kids with no characters and more 'adult' options on the menu.

Yay! I hope you guys have a great time!

After we had a pretty solid breakfast it was time to embark on our drinking adventure. Before we get started, we split everything that we had, with the exception of our margaritas at dinner. We drank plenty of water, and took a good two hour break at lunch. Overall we had a pretty good day, but thankfully it wasn't too hot and splitting everything would have been the only way we could have done this...

I had been dying for another margarita from La Cava, pretty much since I got off the plane from our last trip.

For that reason, we decided we would start our drink tour on the left side of Epcot. We made our way into the Mexico pavilion, with a little extra pep in our step, and then DISASTER. We found out that La Cava does not open until noon.

This resulted in this reaction from me...

Thankfully, we would be back in Mexico later tonight at La Hacienda.

We made our way to Norway and stopped in the bakery where we found our first beverage....

They called this "Viking Coffee" which was coffee, a generic brand of Kahlua, and I believe Bailey's. It was delicious!

Next up was China, where we enjoyed a Peach Snap...

Then it was time to head to Germany, where it felt only natural that we went with a Riesling...

And before lunch we had time for one more stop in Italy, for the delightful Rosa Regale...

We had just enough time after we finished the Rosa Regale to make it back to Coral Reef for our lunch ADR.

I have not tried The Wave for break fast but that has to change , I LOVE Eggs Benedict !!!!

There's was very good! I loved that they made me some special with the smoked salmon instead of the ham. The hollondaise sauce was definitely the star of the show!

Last trip, I was thoroughly disappointed that they were not offering the Lobster Mac & Cheese at Coral Reef on the day that we dined, which was my main reason for booking an ADR here.

I decided to give it another try though.

We arrived about 15 minutes early for our ADR and requested a tank side table. The lobby was very busy, but it was only about a 10 minute wait for us and we were brought to a table right next to the tank.

We started off with some rolls...

DSC00358_zps923d74ae.jpg

They were served super warm, and we dove right in. We needed some carbs to absorb the alcohol. We definitely were not going to have any more alcohol with lunch.

For appetizers, I started with...

DSC00359_zpsd39c5135.jpg

Seared Crab Cakes - with tropical fruit salsa and tequila aioli $12.99

The menu now says that these were served with tequila aioli and fruit salsa. When I had them they were served with a green apple and jicama slaw. I LOVED the slaw. It was crisp, tart and refreshing. I do wish there were a sauce to go with the crab cakes though. They did look like these were almost burned, but that flavor didn't come through at all.

Megan went with this...

DSC00360_zpsfa37ee86.jpg

Creamy Lobster Soup - tarragon and brandy $8.49

This was thick, rich and creamy, but was a bit overwhelming on a hot day.

For entrees, we both decided to go with...

DSC00361_zps12265d27.jpg

Coral Reef Lobster Orecchiette Pasta - with White Cheddar Cheese and Basil Oil $28.49

At long last it was mine!! And...?

I was thoroughly disappointed.

The pasta was overcooked and mushy, and the whole thing just really lacked any punch of flavor. The lobster was lovely and mild, but I felt the cheese sauce needed something. Maybe a bit of spice or a sharper cheese. I ate about half because I needed the carbs, but other than that I really could have done without this.

For dessert, we went with...

DSC00362_zps984126c6.jpg

The Chocolate Wave - served with Raspberry Gelato (contains alcohol) $8.49

This was excellent and very rich!

DSC00363_zps8c41eec5.jpg

Coconut Mango Chiffon Cake - with raspberry sauce $7.99

I don't care for Mango at all, so I didn't try this. Megan did not care for it, and said the Mango flavor tasted very fake.

Overall, the food wasn't the greatest we had on our trip, but the experience of sitting next to the tank was fabulous!

Here are some of the pictures from our lunch...

Great report so far! I have to say we love Tony's and have always had excellent service there and very good meals. I'm happy to see your positive review since I see so many bad ones (which puzzles me). I'm sorry your experience at Coral Reef was just so-so. That was a great meal for us last trip. I'm finding it hard to balance out places we love with new places to try as I plan our ADRs for July.

That is always the hardest part!

After Coral Reef, there was an experience at Club Cool with Beverly (you'll have to check out the trip report for that) before we headed back over to Canada. Our goal was to finish drinking around the world before dinner.

Arriving in Canada, we decided to go with the only girly beverage there...

The Torontopolitan. Which is exactly like a Cosmopolitan. I'm not sure what made it Toronto-ish, other than it was in the Canada pavillion.

Here we met some fellow day-drinkers. Shout out to John and Carol from Long Island! John and Carol were a little further along in their day-drinking than we were, but were wonderful to chat with. It was like having mom and dad right there with us to give us advice on being good day drinkers!

Next up was England. I am a big lover of Strongbow, but wanted to try something different. So we went with the Pear Magners. It was light and refreshing and crisp and exactly what we needed on a hot day.

Off to France it was for a Grand Marnier slushie...

And then to Morocco for a Habibi Daiquiri, which was just like a normal daiquiri but with rose water added. I personally did not taste anything but strawberry.

Next up was Japan for some plum wine. It was very sweet and very strong. I loved it!

And last up was America...where I threw a tiny fit about the removal of the Red Stag lemonade. Seriously, WHY?!?!? So we settled for an Angry Orchard, because, I quote "America is stupid and boring."

After that, it was time to head to Mexico for dinner!

Oh so glad I found. We are planning our 1st trip and it's awesome to actually see photos of the food, read reviews, etc. We have lots of planning time but no ideas what we want to do for dining. Had thought about skipping dining and going with 2 bedroom villa but your post make me think we should skip cooking and enjoy the taste of Disney!

love the reviews..was thinking of staying at art of animation next year..looks really neat..

It was awesome. We probably will stay somewhere else next time for a new experience, unless they start to offer a discount on the Little Mermaid rooms. We paid the full rack rate for our trip this year, just so we could stay there. We enjoyed it, but it wasn't THAT great that I would pay full price each time.

I'm going to have to remember that pear mangers. That sounds good.

It was delicious! If you are a cider drinker and haven't had Strongbow yet, that's another great option in England.

You will at the very least want to enjoy a few Disney meals! It's my favorite part of going! When I planned my first trip I found everything so overwhelming, I relied on dining reviews heavily to make our selections, so I've always tried to return the favor! I hope this helps you decide!

Well that is too bad your lobster pasta wasn't that great at CR. Oh well right! I love your drinking around the world pics and reviews!! Being 7.5 months pregnant I so long for a tasty adult beverage :rotfl:
