Snake in my suitcase at POP Century

Well, all I can say is this would have been my reaction:

While I don't consider myself afraid of snakes finding one in my suitcase would have definitely freaked me out. I'm sure I'd spend the rest of my trip waiting to find another one in my bed, dresser, clothes, etc. and totally freak myself out.

We've had a few issues with critters on the ground floor in Florida hotels (not Disney) and the more I read here the more I think upper floor may be a normal request for us in the future.

:faint: hello request for top floor this september.

I honestly never even thought about snakes when i've gone to disney before.
I dont know why i havent.. seeing that it is the south and there are snakes there, duh.
I'm the kind of person who goes to the zoo and sees a snake in an enclosure and runs away. I keep picturing the snake bursting through the glass. ha.

I wish i never found these boards (j/k not really). I could have went about my fantasy filled days at disney thinking snakes did not exist. haha

but now... this will be me walking around --- :tiptoe: hello, snakes? any of you here?

We've stayed at Pop Century many times, a lot of those on the first floor. In fact, we once had four rooms all in a row and needed first floor for medical reasons. Number of snakes we have seen either outside or in? Zero. Nadda. None. We've seen more Sandhill Cranes there than snakes.

I do have a question for the OP - did you see Disney actually kill the snake? I thought they just moved it to another location.

So what about the person at the CR on a higher floor who found the snake wrapped around the curtain rod a few years ago?

Just what I thought of! In Florida, you are not 'safe' anywhere when it comes to snakes, lizards, and gators. ;)

We saw a baby snake outside our ground floor Pop room in Building 9 last October. I know it had a momma and some siblings around there somewhere, but it was out for a little adventure on its own. :goodvibes

Glad you didn't have a heart attack or anything - and it was nice to get a free night's stay for your momentary freak out. :thumbsup2

I guess living next to the swamp in louisiana we already know never ever leave your door open. Heck I don't even leave my screen porch door open because I dont want to find any type of critter on my porch either! :)

I still have nightmares of new years even when I was about 16 and the door to our house was left open because kids were running in and out to get food/do fireworks and a large snake was seen hanging from a lampshade in the living room. My mom thought it was a fake rubber snake and almost had a heartattack when she went to grab it off the lamp shade and it moved. She screamed louder than all the fireworks.

Snakes in rooms shouldn't be an issue if you keep your doors closed.

I'd still rather have a snake in my room than a spider :scared:

Given your user name, I'm not surprised- you Slytherin you.;)

Snakes in rooms shouldn't be an issue if you keep your doors closed.

Yes, this is common sense. Perhaps you could pass this on to Disney Housekeeping, who are famous for propping the door open while they clean the rooms.

I have seen snakes almost everywhere. I even saw one that was scary and black crawling across the GF's grounds into the lake. Since we are sharing our critter stories, I was at the Poly when I was like 12 and rescued a squirrel from a rat trap.

I always felt like that snake had a little help getting to that level of the building. Either someone intentionally carried it up there and released it on that floor (thinking it would be "funny") or it hitched a ride on a housekeeping or maintenance cart. I'm sure more snakes find their way in to ground floor rooms at the value resorts (where the doors open directly to the outside) than any of the other resorts simply due to logistics.

OMG, I am officially freaked out. I want to stay ground floor at POR but I'm not so sure now.. AHHH

I would rather have a snake AND a spider than a frog and that's what I got in my ASMU room.

:faint:

You couldn't live where I live. We have tree frogs and toads galore. I counted 9 tree frogs and 3 toads on my front porch last night. I think they're cute. My dog thinks they're tasty.

Now, if I had a spider in my room I'd be sleeping with one eye open. They'd probably have to move me. I had a grass spider (big brown sucker) in my laundry room, and I just about climbed into the dryer.
