May 18, 2013 MAGIC EBTA - Who is with us?

My DB is a keen photographer and is wondering if anybody would be interested in a photo walk around the ship on a sea day or evening?

I won't bother doing a whole page and poll for it on the website yet until I see if there is any interest :)

I (or we) would be quite interested in this. I seem to remember someone on this cruise took some great shots on the Magic, they might be able to share some ideas?

We've just booked! 11c stateroom (we have an expensive house move coming up!)

I'm Ruth, 34, and I work in the operating theatres at a local hospital. I enjoy reading and baking.

My husband Richard is 36 and also works at a different hospital. His main requirement for a holiday is that there are places that he can walk to avoid cabin feaver.

so excited to be joinging you all!:yay:

Welcome to you both, so glad you've decided to join us!

Too many exciting things to do to get cabin fever. The days will fly by all too fast.

Looking forward to meeting you both on board, alas because of kids school we won't be flying in until the morning of the cruise.

I'll let him know - he will be over the moon when he knows someone else is interested :)

Maybe my DH and your DB should get together....he'd be thrilled to attend/help/take pics.

My DH would be interested as well, he loves his camera! He just took a photography class and is trying to learn settings and such.

Oh definitely! What camera does he use?

DB is really looking forward to it. Keeps 'em busy for a while :)

He's got a Nikon D4 and another Nikon that I can't tell you the model of...maybe a D600? Hahaha

Oh, yeah.....they could probably spend hours.... :rofl2:

I should know this since I did get it for him for Christmas last year. I want to say a Nikon D3100? Is that a camera? He will be listening to but not swapping tips as I am sure he doesn't have any. He does love to play around with it though. Last April, he took pictures at 3am on the Fantasy to grab shoots when no one was around. This will be great as DH is a child and needs to be entertained every second. I am really worried about this because his best buddy (my 10 yo nephew) won't be coming along to occupy him. He barely made it 14 days with him and this has more sea days and no Luke.

Send him to our cabin....roflmao.....my DH is up until all hours, exactly why he doesn't want to get up in the morning.

Yes, that is a camera. The three am pics sounds like something mine would do.

My DH can talk his ear off.

You might regret that statement! DH is a very earlier riser so I will keep him away from your cabin in the AM.

While your DH can talk his ear off, mine will sit there and just listen. He is a man of few, and I mean VERY FEW words. He will warm up after a few days and might chat if it is something that really interests him and he is knowlegable about. But he loves being around people and doing activites. I don't get it...

Men...can't live without them, but give up trying to understand them.... :)

This is Richard's first cruise, and my second, although the first was a school trip on a ship with the decor and facilities of a cross-channel ferry!

We have been married four months today, and we are so looking forward to spending time together.. work is such an inconvenience!

We are flying from Manchester to Heathrow then on to Houston... at the moment planning on arriving on 16th May to allow us time to recover from the flight, and possibly to go to the Space Centre.

At the moment we haven't booked our return to Manchester from Barcelona... it's looking like it could be expensive as it's the end of the UK half term holidays.

so excited to be joinging you all!:yay:

Welcome aboard, Ruth and Richard!! :goodvibes It will be a "fantabulous" cruise!! :thumbsup2

If you are looking to stay in Galveston, we have a group rate at the Tremont. One family from London is arriving there on Wednesday and I believe someone else arriving on Tuesday. Our rate there is $135 on Wed/Thurs nights, and $159 on Friday night. Right now we have at least ten rooms staying there on Friday night. If you want more info or the code on how to book, just send me a PM! :)

That keeps them quiet for a couple of hours then :rotfl2: - DB is a Canon user!

Here is a link to some of the pics he took on our last med cruise....

I've added you on Flickr - hope that is OK! - I am at work at the moment, so I will take a proper look when I am home if that's OK because I know DB would love to see too.

Haha yes that's a camera :) This is right up DB's street then, whereever we go int the world, we fall into bed at around 3am after night shooting and then we get up at 5am for the sunrise shooting! I love it. We have already discussed taking the tripod up on deck at sunrise when no one else is around and doing some atrium/lobby shots when it is really quiet.

Eeeek I can't wait now. We love doing night and sunrise shooting!

I've put a couple of photos below that we took last weekend at sunset.....

From what I read on the CC website, they used to do it that way....and I'm with you, I wish they'd go back, but as usual, Disney benefits those who live in Florida most.....

We are still silver too, total of 32 nights, but only 4 cruises. We'll have 6 soon as we're doing a b2b over spring break, that will add two, but not in time to make a difference for this booking...

umm- DCL has never done their rewards program by days. Not sure where you read it, but I know people who have 3 digit castaway numbers...(the first round issued in 2000) and they have always been by number of sailings.

DCL has not plans to change it either...I agree that it isn't fair, but any program is better than none!

I've got a question about the mixology class.

I want to sign up, and my wife may want to as well. I see you are wanting to get a list of the drinks that will be involved, and that would influence my wife (and maybe me) about whether we would want to attend. I most likely would attend.

So, I have 2 questions. First, I see on the sign up page I need my room number. We are in a GTY cabin right now, so I don't know that. Secondly, how full is the class now, and am I in danger of getting shut out? I don't want to sign up (my wife in particular), if she won't be going as I don't want take up somebody's space.

Thanks!

Chuck
