How do you make the Onion Soup? Would you mind sharing your recipe?

SURE ..
I use 4 yellow sweet onions sliced, 1 TBL sugar, 2 cans of beef broth, 1 can of water, S & P and Garlic to taste, a splash of sherry or cooking wine, a splash of worcestershire sauce..

sautee the onions slowly in a TBLS or two of butter and sugar - I like mine almost carmelized in a big pot.. once you are done deglaze the pan a bit with some of the water from above and when you've done that add in all the rest of the ingredients.. I have a friend who instead of putting in a pot sautees in a frying pan then after the deglazing puts in all in her crockpot .. top with bread/croutons and cheese of your choice..

We've stayed on track and have decided since we didn't go out on Wed night (we made the coconut chix tenders) that we will go out tomorrow night to Old Country Buffet becuase they sent me a B1G1 free dinner for my Bday.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.. see you all mOnday..

Ugh! Landlord STILL hasn't replace the broken oven element so I've been 12 days without an oven!! :faint:

So to recap...

The plan:

Tuesday—Roast beef in the crock pot with root veggies
Wednesday—Roast beef dips
Thursday—Chicken Fried Rice

Tuesday went ahead as scheduled but we just had straight leftovers on Wednesday instead of the beef dip sandwiches.

I forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer Wednesday night and then spent all day Thursday at my son's school making apple pies with his class. When I got home I was beat and in no mood to cook. DH happily volunteered to take care of dinner...he ended up picking up McDonalds for the kids and hit the Wok Box for mom and dad. We pushed the chicken fried rice to tonight. But...

I forgot AGAIN to take out chicken breasts (what is WRONG with me??) so we had to reorganize for tonight. Picked up a pre-cooked chicken while at the supermarket today so we're having that and microwaved baked potatoes.

On to the new plan:

Going out of town this weekend...it's Turkey time for us Canadians.

So,

Friday (tonight): Reheated rotisserie chicken with baked potatoes
Saturday: Sandwiches, veggies and chips (packed dinner to eat on the road)
Sunday: Dining with friends...eating whatever they feed us
Monday: Leftover rotisserie chicken with instant mashed potatoes (last package)

I'll have to figure out what to eat the rest of the week once we're back. We'll have that chicken fried rice at some point! :lmao:

Well tonight we ate out since everyone was running around late.... but tomorrow we are back to the meal plan.

It was Groupon night last night. We had sushi and got my daughters' pics from the Picture People.(also groupon)

I went grocery shopping this A.M. I got a lot on clearance like veggies and those little cocktail weenies. This is what my menu looks like so far. I am making up a huge pot of red beans and freezing them. I can pull them out as I need them then for chili and other dishes.:

grilled shrimp and orzo
Cajun Red beans and rice tonight http://tinkmomfoodie-foodobsession.blogspot.com/2012/10/cajun-red-beans-in-crock-pot.html
Rachael Rays' corn dog muffins and sweet potato fries (school night)
Eggplant Parm
mock chicken legs with stove top (hubbys' request) (school night)
Arroz con pollo maybe?
shrimp fried rice?

This week has been crazy. There is some sort of illness floating around and work, but thankfully expect for a small upset stomach yesterday morning, I have been fine. I have been working crazy hours and will be again this coming week.

Wednesday I ended up pulling an almost 12 hour day. My boss treated us to penn station for dinner and my mom heated up some leftovers.

Thursday I made crock pot beef stew.

Last night my mom was not feeling well so she had chicken and rice soup while I had homemade pizza.

Tonight the plan is the pioneer woman's beef with snow peas and rice.

Monday - stuffed peppers and spaghetti squash
Tuesday - pasta
Wednesday - salmon (on the grill if the weather cooperates)
Thursday - crockpot pumpkin turkey chill
Friday - panko crusted chicken
Saturday - not sure yet, will figure that out by Friday

Thursday; grilled cheese and tomato soup

Friday, sat-- out of town

Sunday- pub grub at home for football

Wednesday: pick up something on way to football game
Thursday: Meatloaf
