Could you point me to some websites...First time we cruise in Europe and not really sure what the method of travel to Spain might be...

If you fly directly into Barcelona then I guess you can get a cab from the airport.

But if you're hoping to fly to Paris and spend a couple of days in Disney (my tip would be to check the Disney website in the UK as they have been offering kids under 7 stay and play free. Also, they have offered 40% discount for the past 5 years. So hold out until Feb/March to book your hotel.

From Paris there is an overnight sleeper train to Barcelona (which is what we will be taking). This link, is from London to Barcelona and I believe there is a site for USA visitors to book through.

This is the Spanish website link... http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html

Great Info! Thank you! What does a train ride typically cost you? I'd love to go back to EuroDisney! Thanks for putting the thought in my head!

I get the Eurostar from London, not central but Ebbsfleet or Ashford and if you book early enough then it is 69GBP return for adults. Approx $110 per adult. The price is the same same if you book for London Central (St Pancras), Ebbsfleet or Ashford.
It is a nice train ride of 2 hours, easy passport check in with ample parking at Ebbsfleet and Ashford. Train stops right at Disney without any hassle.

I have never caught the train to Barcelona before and for the dates I am looking at as my marker price, it will cost me 546 GBP. Aprrox $875 for myself, DH and 2 boys (8 & 6 years). Hopefully that will be the same price next too.:)

If you do decide to go to DLP then let me know and I will keep an eye out for offers. Especially if you plan on visiting the UK and taking the Eurostar to Disney. You need to book the train about 6 months in advance, if you are lucky you can call up 9 months ahead and they will let you book over the phone before the dates become available on their website.

Also, another tip with Eurostar is, you can print your tickets at home. I phone up early and book (for best price) and then when I have my email, I go and check my seats and change them for a table seat (free of charge). You can swap you seats online once you have booked them with Eurostar. Also, some carriages have plugs, so your kids can play games or use the laptop for movies.
Carriage 5 and 12 if I remember correctly.
1st class isn't really worth the extra as the meal is a very light snack (although very enjoyable).

Wow, Keeping mum for over a year would cripple me. I am just too excited!!!!

Good luck

That website is fab, great job :thumbsup2

Looking forward to being able to book flights now, roll on June!

So does anyone know of any DCL or Med Cruise related books? Although I'm trying so very hard to resist my brains telling me I need to plan :goodvibes

I'm in the UK by the way but the power of amazon will help me get my hands on anything x

I have been looking too, but I am waiting until a 2013 book comes out. I have seen "the Passporter" on amazon and that looks okay. Also, Rick Steves looks good, but I like the passporter because it has planning pages to write in.

Okay, so this may be very premature but my DH took a trip to the fabric shop yesterday and I was looking through the box of offcuts and managed to bad myself some free material.
I happened to visit my mother and know that she has a sewing machine (but she doesn't sew), so I asked to have it.

I was so excited with my freebies that I got to work as soon as I got home. My kids told me what they would like and I went to work. I have only ever used a machine maybe twice for basic cushion covers, and that is as far as my sewing skills go.
It did not start well as I couldn't get the setting right and it kept jamming (or what the term is). After attempt 12 my DH stepped in with a calmer head and YAY, he got the tension right (even though I read the manual and told him). He is was my super hero. :worship:

I did all the cutting and measuring last night and today started to build my FE. I even had a go at stitching our family name on a mickey (not the best stitching at all, but I am not a machinist).

Not completed yet as I want to put something on the pockets, just not sure what as of yet.

My favorite book so far is the Rick Steves Mediterranean Cruise Ports book. It's great if you plan to do any ports on your own. There are so many great tips! I'm sure I'll read more but this was a great book to start with.

Cute cute cute!! You did a great job on these. I'm not crafty at all. My daughter owns a sewing machine but I haven't talked myself into making our own FE. I might take the easy way out and order one on ebay! ;)

Hi Everyone, I haven't posted in a few weeks or so. We just got off the Magic last Friday 4/6 doing the Western Caribbean. We had several "horn wars" with the Fantasy as she was on her maiden voyage along side of us at several ports. It was quite a site - all the camera flashes from the people on the Fantasy, the people on the beaches, and even on the nearby Royal Caribbean and Costa ships made us feel like rock stars! The Magic still has her Magic!

We had a spectacular room host and a great dining team. I told them all they better still be on the Magic when it goes to the Med in 2013 and we'd seem them all then!

Cindy

Glad to hear that you had a great cruise! Wouldn't that be fun if you had the same team on the Med cruise?
