Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

Me too! As soon as I set foot in World Showcase I feel the urge to run to France and spend lots of money there... the only difference is that I spend it on the Boulangerie Patisserie :rotfl:

I know there were 0 Judys but 8 Marlenes.

The phone booth calling was fuinny. It is good to have Daddy/daughter time.

Sorry to hear about Judy and Pchef. I know something had to give and she will get used to the idea but I am sure she will miss it for a while. 12 years is a long time.
Congract on her "act 2" as a teacher. :worship: On being a high school math teacher.

5 Judy's!!! :woohoo:

Well, the name anyway, and some difficult person mentioned that those should be listed as Judy sightings too, so let me be the first!!!! ;)

At least you have to give me credit for reading this time Glenn!!! :confused3

Well yeah, but I also posted how you could quickly get the count...so we still don't know for sure if you actually read it! ;)

Oh, I have GOT to get those phone numbers in my phone for next trip!!! Tell Marlene nice beret! And I see she has gotten into that Silly Bandz craze like Drew...... :rolleyes1

You think I should just go ahead and post the numbers?

Yeah, she was wearing some Silly Bandz on the trip. I haven't noticed if she's wearing any lately.

Fun update! That must have been special to just have Marlene with you:goodvibes. My DD's get excited when it's just one on one time with either DH and myself.

I got to have some special time with each child on this trip. It wasn't necessarily planned that way, like this particular occasion, but I was pretty happy that it worked out like that.

I love how you messed around with the phone booth!:lmao: I didn't know you could actually call the number, that is very fun! We'll try it for sure next trip.

I have several more stories coming up in later chapters!

Marlene looks fabulous in her beret too.:thumbsup2 I actually prefer the original pic of her, it's softer and pretty. You know, my middle DD has a fixation on Paris too. I don't know why, maybe because I read Madeline to hear so much as a young girl? Regardless, she loves all things Paris!

Hmmm, you like the original one huh? I thought it seemed like it needed more light or something.

I'd forgotten to comment on Judy's PChef news too! I'm sure it'll be an adjustment for her but it sounds like the right decision. Teaching is such a wonderful profession! (I used to teach before I had my girls) It is time consuming with lots of prep work involved so I can completely understand her decision to let PChef go, there's only so many hours in the day! I wish her all the best!:goodvibes And for the record, I LOVE all my Pampered Chef products too! My very good friend from college began her business with them and I have been to many a PChef party and left with way to much merchandise! Tell Judy it's good stuff!

Thanks Molly. It will be an adjustment, but the die is cast now.

Ya, but at least you get the points for it.:sad1::laughing: I guess I get a big fat 0 for 0 Judys, sigh.

Sometimes people remember who came in 2nd, like that one guy, um, you know....or the other one, what's-her-name.

OK, I have GOT to tell you about that guess that I only BARELY squeaked in- it actually had drama to it.

I was DISing earlier and accidentally hit the keyboard key something-or-rather that gave some weird message, and I pushed "OK", and went back to looking at who had what up today.

Then, I read your post that one was coming and was going to reply-

"Great, short posts are great! I'll be watching."

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, when I went to type it, I COULDN"T!!!!!

Knowing that the post was imminent, I shot upstairs as fast as my short little out of shape legs could carry me, and opened Explorer on the desktop.

THis was WHILE I was scanning the post on my non-typing netbook. Quickly counting I hit reply on the desktop,b ut realized I wasnt' logged in, and today our internet seems interminably S L 0 W!!!! Finally, it logged me in and I could post. UGH!!

I just restarted my netbook and now it is typing fine. BUT PHEW! That was a seriously scary moment of not getting any points!!

LOVE this story! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am psyched (and incredulous) that it was that important to you. You deserve a :cheer2: !

Wow, and to think if you'd have been 1 minute slower, we'd be forgetting your name right now.

The whole phone booth thing had me laughing very hard! And the shots of Marlene in France are gorgeous. I might be with Judy on this one, I think I like the one in color best. :confused3

Very cool about the number for the phone booth! I had no idea! :thumbsup2

Yep-er. I learned it on the DIS too!

And those pictures of Marlene in front of the flowers are awesome. :goodvibes

Thanks Carissa!

at least you didnt talk to some guy in yellow shorts and tell him his legs looked sexy.

that would have just been weird.

Yeah, I don't know who would do that. Next, they'll be telling people on the internet that they get all giddy when they correspond with them.

good update, and i like the photos i didnt know you could edit them like that.

:thumbsup2

It took a little playing around, but wasn't difficult at all.

I like the color one better too. But it is a beautiful setting and a beautiful subject. Marlene looks great. My youngest still wants one of the painted parasols.

It sounds like the color one is coming out as the more popular one. Oh thanks! I didn't see the parasols.

Sorry the phone booth didn't work out better. I've read of people calling from all over and getting random people to answer the phone. I would love to surprise my kids one day because you know they just have to take a picture in the phone booth.

Oh don't worry, we have more phone stories coming up.

Dagnabbit. I was hoping you'd get to ask people if they had Prince Albert in a can, or if their refrigerators were running. Sigh... :sad2:

Sounds like you've made a few phone calls in your day.

Yeah, I won't be doing that again.

Some people have to learn the hard way.

You'll just have to go and find out for sure. And where are the Glenn beret pictures? :confused3

The beret did not venture onto my head, but if it had I would have looked like chuck Norris in "Delta Force".

Yet another great shot! :thumbsup2

Thank you sir.

I think I have to go with the color one. Seems more in the spirit of Renoir...or Monet...or whoever you're going for here. Durer, maybe? ;)

Durer! :lmao: Where's the big, frightening rabbit?

How did you take that picture of Marlene in the mirror without getting yourself in it??? I have never figured out how to do that!!!

You can either:

Take 2 pictures, one of the mirror and another from the mirror's perspective of the subject and background. Then photoshop the 2nd picture into the frame of the mirror so that it appears that it really was taken as a reflection, even though it wasn't.

Or

Stand off to the side just a hair. Which is what I did. ;)

Sorry Yuki, I just felt like being a smart alec for a second. :rotfl2:

They removed the doors on the phone booths? I wonder why? It's too bad nobody had the GUTS to pick up the phone. OR, they thought it was one of those Disney sounds that they pipe in to give a more realistic feeling. :confused3

I saw on Amy's thread that the doors were on, so I don't know what the deal was.

We have several more phone stories coming up, don't worry.

Aww, it's so nice that she's so interested in another culture like that. It'll be cool to see if she actually continues to improve her French and comes back years later and can speak fluently with the CMs in French!

We'll see. I have no idea if she'll stick to it long enough to become fluent.

I like the black and white one better. It reminds me of the opening sequences of old 80's television shows. Like "Live in Color".

Now her I was, all set to congratulate you on agreeing with me on my preferred picture....and then you go and call 80's television shows "old"! Some of us grew up with 80's tv shows :happytv: , and 70's tv shows, and maybe even some earlier than that. :goodvibes

That's not such a bad idea either Tribilín.

I know there were 0 Judys but 8 Marlenes.

We had a good time. More fun coming up in the next chapter.

Sorry to hear about Judy and Pchef. I know something had to give and she will get used to the idea but I am sure she will miss it for a while. 12 years is a long time.
Congract on her "act 2" as a teacher. :worship: On being a high school math teacher.

Hi Pat! Yeah, it's been a little rough. Thanks for the congrats.

The whole phone booth thing had me laughing very hard! And the shots of Marlene in France are gorgeous. I might be with Judy on this one, I think I like the one in color best. :confused3

More phone stories coming up for probably a few chapters, and they get better!

I'm sensing a concensus toward the color picture.

So, with the park passes and James having been delivered to Judy, Marlene and I bid them adieu...
Intended foreshadowing?! ;)

Well that was kind of fun, but you know that real fun will be in trying to get someone else to pick up the phone. We positioned ourselves across the street and hung out for a minute or two until some people came near the phone booths, and then I dialed. (This looks like something out of Candid Camera, doesn’t it?)
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this - too funny! How sad that no one would take the bait. :sad2:

Somewhere, somehow, Marlene has developed a love for all things France, and Paris in particular.
:goodvibes A girl after my own heart - je l'aime, la France!

I’m not sure that anyone actually still wears berets in France, but don’t tell her that.
FWIW, my standard winter hat is a wool beret, so that's what I wore while in Paris in late Nov. some years ago... I was far from alone, and that was not tourist season! :thumbsup2

You’re in Morocco
Huh, who knew? Looks a lot like Florida. ;)

Hi Glenn! Joining In! popcorn:: Very late, but your chapter links helped me catch up. :thumbsup2

You have a beautiful family and it looks like you had a successful trip so far!

DH and I were there a few weeks before you and it was quite warm!

Can't wait to read more!

Yay! I am so glad you are finishing this. I've been checking the boards every few days for an update.

Yeah, I don't know who would do that. Next, they'll be telling people on the internet that they get all giddy when they correspond with them.
i know, wonder if it is just bright color ones or any colored shorts?
:rolleyes1

yuki, I just felt like being a smart alec for a second. :rotfl2:
so this second has been going on for a few years now.

are you like santa where you slow time down and seconds turn into years, minutes into milleniums.

Marlene looks adorable in her beret!! So glad she was able to get exactly what she wanted. Great picture in front of the flowers too - is that normally a fountain though? Or is the fountain in front of the flowers?

IMG_3735-1-1-1.jpg

Ah, Impressions De Marlene. I like it. She looks adorable in her beret. I think you should all wear them - like the Griswolds in European Vacation.

That's disappointing that no one wanted to play along with your phone game. Losers!

Well, I understand how Judy must be feeling, calling an end to PChef. But teaching is such a demanding job - it would be really hard to keep it up, I think. No more free trips is kind of a bummer, though!

I'm here (haven't been on the DIS much); now I have to go back and read. I'll come back and comment later.

Hi Glenn! I'm here.....finally. Sorry I kinda missed the invite to the new thread until I looked today :rolleyes1 I'll have to catch up later cause I'm still at work but I will mention quickly, sorry to hear about Judy and no more PChef. I hope at least she enjoys her teaching!

ETA: Okay work died down a bit so I got all caught up. I HAD NO IDEA YOU COULD CALL THE PHONE IN THE UK!!!! That's so cool! Sorry I got a bit excited there... but seriously. Too bad you didn't catch anyone actually answering the phone. Spoiled all your fun! I like the picture of Marlene in black and white the best

Glennbo, I can't believe that (a) your TR has requireed a whole second thread; and (b) by the time I figured this out, you were already on page 7 of thread 2. Sheesh!

In any case, congrats. I feel congrats are necessary here.

Also, I vote for the color Marlene. Though I think you should try a color Marlene with a b&w background, just for kicks.

I'm not sure which picture of Marlene I like better, but I certainly love her beret and I love those pictures of France.

I love that you called on the phone booths and I can't believe that no one picked up. I found those numbers on someone else's TR and I have to put them in my phone for May because I want to try the same trick.

Really fun update. See what James missed. :upsidedow

I'm up to date with Part Two!!!

Hey PJ! Good to "see" you! And I'm glad you're up to date.

Intended foreshadowing?! ;)

::yes:: I wondered if anyone would pick up on that. Good job V!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE this - too funny! How sad that no one would take the bait. :sad2:

We'll have several more attempts before this whole thing is said and done, or typed and read as the case may be.

:goodvibes A girl after my own heart - je l'aime, la France!

I had a feeling as to what that phrase meant, but I put it into Google translator just to be sure....and it said "Ich liebe Frankreich!" Oops, had it set on "French to German".

FWIW, my standard winter hat is a wool beret, so that's what I wore while in Paris in late Nov. some years ago... I was far from alone, and that was not tourist season! :thumbsup2

That's right, I think you were wearing it in a recent update in your TR....when you were wearing several layers, but still not quite Michelen Man-ish.

Good to know that you can still see some berets in France.

Hi Glenn! Joining In! popcorn:: Very late, but your chapter links helped me catch up. :thumbsup2

You have a beautiful family and it looks like you had a successful trip so far!

DH and I were there a few weeks before you and it was quite warm!

:welcome: DisneyRed95! I'm glad you're joining in! Thank you. It was a great trip.

Oh my gosh, it was super hot during that trip. It's hard to remember now, while we have temps in the teens, but we went about the same time in 2009 and 2010 was much hotter.

Yay! I am so glad you are finishing this. I've been checking the boards every few days for an update.

Wow, thanks for checking periodically. I was trying to get about 2 updates done per week, but things have gotten pretty hectic lately.

i know, wonder if it is just bright color ones or any colored shorts?
:rolleyes1

It'd probably take Sigmund Freud to get to the bottom of that.

so this second has been going on for a few years now.

:rotfl2:

are you like santa where you slow time down and seconds turn into years, minutes into milleniums.

No, really it comes and goes. But it's frequently triggered by posts from FauntleroyFAN07 or Marvali.

Marlene looks adorable in her beret!! So glad she was able to get exactly what she wanted. Great picture in front of the flowers too - is that normally a fountain though? Or is the fountain in front of the flowers?

Thanks. Yeah, she knew exactly what she wanted. I forgot to mention that most of them had a France patch on them, but they looked really touristy. I think hers was the last one that was just plain.

I had to go find a picture from our 2009 trip to be sure, but the fountain is in front of the flowers. So, I must have been standing between the flower area and the fountain.
