This year we will be there for 12 and a half days and the MYW with fun options ticket works better for us than the Stars and Stripes. Also I can buy the MYW at our local MWR early so it will be one more expense prepaid.:cool1:

Trying to figure out why MYM with fun option is better for you. Are you only getting say 9 days but planning to use one or more of those days on like your 11th and 12th days of your stay?

Because otherwise they are the same options correct?

I am sure we will need to hit DisneyQuest at least once, and hop on at least one day, so I see the S&S as the right choice for us.

BTW my MWR said they needed two weeks notice for anything other than a 3 day pass. Just an FYI so you get your tickets on time.

Can you elaborate on what you said about the 2 weeks notice?? I intend to get the 3 day hopper pass for my family (2kids .2 granny's , my dh and I) but what if my Dh and I decide to do the 4day pass? they need 2 weeks notice for that?? I thought you could just buy your tickets when you got there no big deal? Am I wrong?

MYW is better for us because we will be there 12 and half days. The longest Stars and Stripes is only good for 11 days, only 10 days of touring. With the S and S if you only go to a water park one day that counts as a full day even if you do not go to a major park. There is no distinction between a minor or a major park. The benefit is you could go to a Water Park, Theme Park and DQ every day for 10 days if you have the stamina.

MYW is valid for 14 days. With the Fun Option add on I get 10 admittances to the minor parks and 10 admittances to the major theme parks. The 10 Fun options (water parks, DQ) are treated as separate tickets than the 10 major parks. So I can go to the Water Park in the AM and DQ in the evening for two days and only use 4 minor park admittance and still have 10 days at the major theme parks AND an addition 6 minor park admittances. So it is easier to stretch over a 12 and a half day trip. It will give us more flexibility.

The cost at our MWR for the 10 day MYW ticket plus park hopping plus the Fun option is only around $15 more per person and I only need three (DD, DGS, and DGD) as my husband and I have PAP (we are plannning 3 trips this year, two for us alone). If we were staying a flat 10 days then the Stars and Stripes would be perfect for us. It is having flexibility for that addition 2 and half days. I like having options and doing a little each day, pacing myself.

Also I like having as much of my trip prepaid as possible. You can prepay the MYW and cannot prepay the S and S. I am ordering my tickets at the end of February for our June trip.:cool1:

Each MWR is different. MY base sells MYW plus park hopping up to five days. If you want longer or any other add ons you have to order them. I would call your MWR and see what their policy is and what they have on hand.

Thanks Suvee. I should have added in my original post that you should call your MWR to see what they need. I was kinda shocked that mine needed two weeks for anythign longer than a 3 day pass. Just didn't want anyone else to get surprised. But in comparing prices, Shades was cheaper on comparable tickets.

But again all MWRs may vary.

It might be nice to know when other SoG Dis fans are going to be there. It would be nice to put a face with a name.

I will be there March 4 to 10 with my DH and my wonderful sister. Then we will be back in June 11 to 23 with our DD, DGS (6) and DGD (13). Maybe we could wave in the halls.

Last week of May 2008 for me. Then we're also doing a cruise on the Wonder.

Dh and I are planning our next trip for November, don't have the exact dates yet, but can't wait to get there and enjoy the magic!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Nov 8-14 at SOG. We'll be going there after our cruise on Carnival Glory (1-8 Nov) and we actually arrive in FL on 31 Oct.

We were looking at it for our next trip at the end of 2008, SOG would cost me $125 per night plus $5 for parking. I can book at a value for $82 per night or a moderate for $149 with free parking.

Then of course, there is always the Nick Hotel... oops, did I say a bad word?

Are the rates really going up toward the end of the year? They usually don't do that until the beginning of each year. It was $103 last month. The one thing you have to consider is that there is NO TAX added on top of each night's stay. I know when we used to stay for $99/night we figured out that it was the same as staying at the all-star resort for $78/night rate+tax. And the rooms at SOG are A LOT roomier than the value resorts!!! If you are talking value, I would recommend SOG.:cutie:

Like I said before, I just wish they had reasonably priced suites. Having a second small room to sit in while my son is trying to fall asleep (he is autistic and cannot fall asleep with anyone in the room, he never could even as a small infant), would be so nice! But the price is more then double a regular room. I am going to look into some other options for us, but more than likely we'll end up at SoG again hiding in the bathroom while he falls asleep.

You would have to ask when you make a reservation, but once we stayed in a room the had a 3/4 wall that left a sitting area just before the sliding glass door. That was the area where the pull-out sofa was. It is possible that it was a "handicap" room. (I know we stayed in one of those.) That made it possible for my older ones to quietly watch television while the younger one slept. I don't know if that would help, but you might want to ask about it.

We're eligible to stay at SOG but haven't done so yet. In the past 4 years, we've taken 5 trips and stayed at ASMovies, CR, AKL, BC, and POP. We really enjoyed all of them - we are pretty laid back and easy to please!

This summer we are trying POR. We've decided to surprise our twins on Christmas Day and fly down to Disney for a warm holiday vacation! I'm tossing around the idea of us staying at SOG for that trip. Have any of you stayed there over Christmas? Is it beautifully decorated like the other resorts would be?

Also, what are your thoughts on the pool, and is there an arcade? (Or is there one at the Poly to use?) Our boys LOVED the arcade at POP, even though they spent only an hour or so total of our 10 days in it!

We're a little nervous about two things at SOG - the food choices (POP food court was perfect for our family!) and also the pool. Is it okay?

Thank you!
Kristie

We just got back from a trip in Jan and the holiday decor was still about...BEAUTIFUL. As it is every year when we visit SOG. One of the pools is heated. If this is what you were thinking, I know I saw people swimming in it when we were there in January and the Floridians were FREEZING. There are two pools, and one is shaped like mickey. There is also a small arcade (about the same size as the one in POP). The restaurant has a VERY REASONABLY PRICED buffet each night. I don't know about your boys, but my kids LOVE to be able to help themselves. There is also take-out pizza at the bar if you prefer. I think you will be very happy with all it has to offer.
:thumbsup2
