Zombies v. Vampires

Who's to say the zombies won't find the vampires hiding spots though. There would be so many zombies they are bound to stumble across them. They always find the people in the malls

Actually I am enjoying the posts all have so much thought put into them.

Yeah but the vampires could lead the zombies off the edge of a cliff like lemmings and they'd be to dumb to realise.

I can't imagine zombies eating vampires though. I don't remember any zombies digging up graves so I always thought that they didn't like dead bodies. Vampires are dead so...

Yeah, but...zombies eat brains and vampires eat blood...so zombies might attack vampires because they do have brains...also...I'm not so sure the only way to kill a vampire is a stake through the heart. Surely a completely dismembered vampire eaten by 17 zombies would die.

Or would a vampire bitten by a zombie turn into a zombie, too. Hmmmm....

A vampire is DEAD. A zombie needs living brain tissue and a vampire does not have that. A zombie would not even "see" a vampire really. It would mistake it for another zombie.

And no, a vampire would not turn into a zombie. However I suppose the other way around could be true. A zombie could become a vampire. You could make an arguement for that.

Now if a ton of zombies were to swarm a vampire then they would kill it. But that would mean the zombie would have to figure out how to locate them. Which would be rare.

But it really is more PC to refer to them as "undead Americans." I thought everyone knew that.

Yes they are dead. They are not an immortal but they can live for centuries, if they are not killed of course.

Yes. They don't require food, oxygen, they do not age because they are "frozen" in time at their turning.

The origin of the myth varies with the author/creator of the realm of many possibilites.

It can be a spiritual punishment with God as in Dracula, or in the case of Anne Rice, a demon.

Anime has many variations as well.

Zombies would win, hands down. Simply because Vampires couldn't feed on Zombies because they're already dead. And I can't believe I put that much thought into this subject

I picked vampires as winning, but really it depends on the mythology you choose. My ideas come from the following:

- Zombies are humans raised from the dead by someone with the power to do so. They ARE stronger then a human, but without the controller they would not have much intelligence. They would not be able to plan or work together... plus the odds of multiple zombies being raised at once is very slim.

- To truely kill a vampire one must cut off the head and cut out the heart, burn them, and scatter the ashes. Too complicated for a zombie to do.

- Vampires work in covens and groups. As such they can plan and set ambushes. They can easily get to the controller and once they are dead then it is nothing to destroy a zombie.

The Zombies I'm familiar with don't seem to be controlled by anyone but just wander around aimlessly. Most are very slow but of course some filmmakers had to make fast zombies recently.

From what I've seen, vampires are fast, can turn into other animals if they need to and are highly intelligent. They are also good fighters - if you are into Spike and Angel. They do need food in a way (blood) and their biggest problems are light and garlic (in some cases).

I see vampires as still having the edge.

Isn't it a little ethnocentric to assume the smart, fast, capable ones are Americans? Perhaps they are "undead Canadians"?

I'm sinking to a new low in debating this, but...

Vampires aren't dead. They're undead. The person that was in there - that person is gone, their soul is gone - but the vampire itself isn't dead until it is killed.

I suppose I could be wrong. Please tell me if I am. (If you want to sink to the low of debating the deadness of a vampire. )
