Are we talking full fledge Stage 4 (Living in a Zombie World)? To be honest, I haven't thought about it. Probably build a compound somewhere in Montana.

I can't say where I'd go because other people would try to go there too and what it zombies followed them? Or they were marauders?

Just today DS15 asked me what would happen if there were a zombie attack and someone was diabetic? What would they do about their medicine? I told him they better find a hospital or a pharmacy because they would need to travel with insulin.

I know, to the rest of the world we're strange like that. But you have to be prepared.

The medicine issue is why it would be a good idea to set up rural, but be close enough to a small city to go in for meds if needed. Heavily armed and with a hummer or at least a large SUV should make it doable to get in and out safely.

I'm thinking fire and explosives are a good way to get rid of them in large numbers.

Ok, rethinking my plan. I'd try to get my hands on a fire engine, and rig up something so that the hose can spray flammable liquid on them. Then throw a few molotov cocktails into the crowd of them. Then I'd run in a pharmacy with a few others, clean out the shelves of prescription meds in knapsacks, and make a run for it back to the SUV. The fire engine can follow behind still spraying and burning any leftover zombies as we make our way back to the rural compound.

My last apt was Zombie proofed.
Had twelve 14 inch high but 5 inch deep concrete stairs (very difficult for a clumsy zombue to walk up)which lead to a 2 inch thick sold steel door attached to a concrete wall/steel frame.

If they got through this door, there was another 32 steps of the same dimensions they would have to get up before coming to another steel door.
My actual apartment had elevated windows over a paring lot, where i had my truck parked. It also had 15 foot ceiling with a skylight accessable by ladder.

i also have an irrational fear of zombies, and was aware of the distance of the local funeral home (3 minutes on foot running) the local cemetary (10 minutes on foot running) and the local hospital (34 minutes on foot running).

These "zombies" wouldn't be going after us to eat us, but I know I wouldn't want to be around a city full of them if anyone uses agent 15 in a chemical attack. They wouldn't exactly be the walking dead, but it's creepy enough for me to want to get as far away as i could from them.

On a visit to the St. Louis Arch my BFF's son decided that would be a good place to hole up in the event of a zombie attack. It's actually not a bad idea considering the entrance is under ground.

Me, I am more the "what happens in the event of a killer flu" ala Stephen Kings The Stand.

I have a friend who has a place in the country with it's own fishing pond and well and fireplace and pretty much anything you need. All of those big glass windows are worrisome though.

Did anyone here watch the first season of the Walking Dead? Those zombies had no trouble climbing stairs...

Agent 15 isn't the only gas that does this. There is also a chemical called 3-Quinuclidinyl benzilate (also called BZ). It was invented by Hoffman-La Roche in 1951, and was first weaponized in the 60's.

Agent 15 was reported identical or similar to BZ. But, while Iraq was accused by the British of stockpiling Agent 15, there is no evidence that it was used. And chemical weapons were never found after the invasion. A similar agent was rumored to be used in the Bosnian conflict, although no evidence was ever found to substantiate it.

It was reported used by the US in Vietnam. BZ was portrayed as being used in the film Jacob's Ladder, although the effects described in the movie were inaccurate.

We are prepared to make a stand here on our "compound". Our farm is on a hill with clear view to the surrounding acreage on all sides. We'll have a clear shot to any invaders from all angles. Currently accepting applications for fellow refugees. Must be able to farm, sharp-shoot, build etc or other marketable skill. Medical skills given preference. No kids....unless we can use them as bait or shields (or unless they're a crack shot).

It's common knowledge with family and friends, that if the poo hits the fan - for any reason - you get to our house and you get there quickly. And when you show up, in order to gain entry, you had better be an asset to the group.

Our 1 neice and nephew know they are in. He owns 3 guns, he's an electrician, and she's an RN. They'll pull their weight. DD13 and DS16 both can stay because they can both shoot. DD can also reload mags for us. But they are both well aware, that if we have to cut and run, they had better keep up otherwise we are leaving them behind as bait.

I've always loved when I have conversations with friends and they say they'd go to Cinderella Castle. Uh, why? That place isn't safe. At all.

That safe house looks pretty fantastic.

I'd avoid malls. Today's malls are either more of the outdoor type, or almost all glass outsides...and honestly, it would be too dangerous and time consuming to try and block all of that glass with something.

Weirdly, I would almost want to build a tree house, a la Swiss Family Robinson, and work from there. I have never seen a zombie climb a tree before.

I don't know, but I believe there is a county in Florida (Lake county?) that has an emergency response plan for the Zombieapocalypse. At least one government agency is prepared.
