Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

Aw man, I tried to work on my February TR but it got moved to the Completed TR board so I cant add to it anymore =(

So Rommel are we gonna expect anything new in terms of the trip report? I know you've been busy with other things but anything interesting coming our way?

Wow! What a day! I'm just glad I survived and that there is only one day left with the students before a two weeks vacation! First we had the Christmas Concert this morning, so it was both exciting and nerve wracking. Said concert lasted 20 minutes longer than planned, which ate into my prep time. Thankfully, the grade 1 teacher had something special planned with her students so she left me off the hook for the last half hour before lunch. Good thing, because I had lots of last minute preparations to do for the pizza party we were having at lunch with my homeroom students. That lunch was a fun but tiring hour, followed by trying to keep the grade 1s occupied for 90 minutes in the afternoon. And to top it all off, freezing rain started to fall in the afternoon so the drive home was slippery and STRESSFUL!! :headache:

But I've been home a few hours and have had time to relax a little, so I thought I'd treat you all to a new update. :goodvibes

I should be able to do one now. :)

Day 6 part 3 - Fun In The Snow
August 16th, 2011

We had planned on going to Hollywood Studios that day, but since I wasn't feeling well that morning we switched our plans with the following day. Which means that we were now ready to head to Blizzard Beach. We had eaten lunch in our room and once we were done we quickly slapped on the sunscreen, changed into our swimsuits, and headed to the bus stop.

On the way there we made a little detour by the 70s area because I wanted to pretend-play Twister. I loved that game when I was younger. And I'm not talking kid, I'm talking teenager/young adult! How the fun we had drinking and then twisting our bodies into funny shapes on a certain college trip to Virginia Beach. :rotfl2:

272.jpg

As usual we did not wait long for a bus at all and were at Blizzard Beach in no time.

I love that they have photopass people at the water parks! We got our picture taken with some melting snowtourists.

We rented a locker and then set off for a float around the lazy river. In was the middle of the day, no sense in trying a slide as I'm sure all the lines must have been pretty long. Another thing I love is my underwater camera, perfect for having visual memories of our wet days.

We came across another photopass person, so of course we jumped (swam) on the opportunity.

Photo0294FourBySix.jpg

As you can see the river was pretty crowded, but not too packed that you can't move anymore.

280.jpg

This is where we had come in, which meant we had went around the whole park once, so we exited.

281.jpg

Knowing lines for slides would still be crazy, we made our way to the bobbing wave pool.

282.jpg

283.jpg

I look like a squirrel here...

288.jpg

It's hard enough trying to take a picture of yourself. But try taking a picture of yourself kissing and underwater, and this is the best we could do.

287.jpg

Photopass time again! I used to spend my entire summers in the water when I was a kid and never once wore goggles, but Ron can't go without and kinda got me used to it. We decided to commemorate this.

Photo0297FourBySix.jpg

We also did a more traditional cute picture.

Photo0306FourBySix.jpg

Photo0302FourBySix.jpg

I get bored pretty quickly in this wave pool because the waves are almost non-existent. It was getting a bit later in the day so we decided to try our luck with a slide. We went to the double-tube slides at the back of the mountain (Runoff Rapids??) as they are kind of hidden. We figured the wait time would be less than other slides, and we were right! There are three different slides to choose from, and we did two of them.

291.jpg

We got a photopass picture with this not-so-hidden Hidden-Mickey.

Photo0307FourBySix.jpg

I was getting hungry for a snack so we went off in search of something I had spotted earlier : Mini donuts. They are freshly made in a tiny little cart and they taste so YUMMY!!! I only got 6 as Ron didn't want any, but then they were so good that he ate half my box!!! We had to pay for them as they don't count as a snack, but I don't care. It was worth it. They even sell little dipping sauces, but I think they are delicious all on their own. I'm sorry I did not take a picture. I think I was too busy scarfing them down.

We went back to the wave pool, but I got bored again so instead I left Ron there and went to check the wait time for some slides. I was interrupted with :
"Due to some inclement weather in the area, all water attractions are closed"

Oh no! What would we do now?

Up Next, Will the Weather Ruin the Rest Of Our Day?

Yay an update!!! :cool1:

Looks like you had so much fun at Blizzard Beach! I can't believe how many PP photographers there are there! We have only been there once, in 2008, and it was ok...I'm not a big water park person anymore, but I'd like to give the Disney water parks a try again someday! :thumbsup2

I had no idea there was a wave pool at BB! Or those mini donuts! I knew Typhoon Lagoon had both, but I completely missed those at BB!

I love all of your BB pictures! I am kicking myself now that I have so few pictures of our water park days. :sad2: Ugh - we got the same inclement weather announcement when we were at BB, too!

Great update Rommel as always! I didn't know you could get mini doughnuts while you are at Blizzard Beach I could've for a doughnut while I was there. Your not alone on the whole weather thing trust me your not I went there under trying conditions as well.

Love the update!! I swore off Blizzard Beach after our last trip (you'll see why eventually in my TR, though it's a ways off), but now that I'm looking at your pictures I'm kind of thinking I might not have such harsh feelings towards it anymore:rolleyes1.

I need some goggles. Not sure why the thought has never really crossed my mind, but that would make wearing my contacts so much easier!

Joining in late and loving your TR. Congrats on your new addition !! I was sick the first four months of both of my pregnancies, so I know how you feel. AND I had gestational diabetes. Once I started the insulin shots, though I really felt so much better !! Looking forward to reading more about your trip and about your pregnancy !!

merry christmas!

Thank you!!!

I'll be back later to reply to everyone, but I just wanted to wish all my readers and lurkers a JOYEUX NOËL!!!! (Merry Christmas in French ;))

Oh, and 2 days ago I got my Christmas present from me to me, MY NEW CAR!!!!

I just wanted to say to you Rommel: Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your husband from the UK. And congrats on getting the car now if only I knew how to drive then I would be whisking myself at top speed in a fancy Ferrari right about now.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

We love Blizzard Beach! Have you tried TL?

Merry Christmas Ron and Mel!

Merry (belated) Christmas to you too!

Merry (belated) Christmas and happy New year to you too! Wouldn't it be nice to have enough money to buy a Ferrari?

We had an okay time at Blizzard beach, but I wouldn't say we had so much fun. We barely did any slides, and the pool bores me. :confused3

I'm a big fan of water parks. I try to go to at least one around here every summer. I actually think the water parks where I live have much better slides than both Disney water parks, but obviously Disney's theming is 1000x better. And since summer really only lasts 2 months around here, and half those two months are either rainy or chilly, lines get HUGE! It's not uncommon to wait 2 hours for a slide here. :headache:

I can't believe you missed the wave pool! :rotfl: It's smack dab in the middle of the park! Though it is MUCH smaller than the one at TL. And really more of a bobbing wave pool. Those mini donuts, though, YUMMY!

I love all of your BB pictures! I am kicking myself now that I have so few pictures of our water park days. :sad2: Ugh - we got the same inclement weather announcement when we were at BB, too!

Ron didn't even want to carry the camera around and kept asking me to leave it in the locker. But I was the one holding on to it and I really wanted to take all those pictures. I sure don't regret it. :goodvibes

Ugh, inclement weather. We're gonna have to review our strategy of going to water parks on slow days, after sleeping in. The idea of going late and staying until closing is good in theory, as lines get much shorter later on. But the risk of running into bad weather is just too great.

Great update Rommel as always! I didn't know you could get mini doughnuts while you are at Blizzard Beach I could've for a doughnut while I was there. Your not alone on the whole weather thing trust me your not I went there under trying conditions as well.

I certainly could go for a mini donut right about now. popcorn:: Though I do have about a gazillion Christmas snacks to eat around here...

As I just told SouthernTinkerBelle, that darn weather sure puts a damp on our whole strategy of doing the opposite of everyone and going to the parks in the late afternoon, after everyone has left for the day. :headache:

Great update! I love that underwater camera of yours, it takes such great pictures.

I love my camera too! Not only was it great at the water parks, but it also gave me some incredible pictures in the ocean during our wedding week.

Oh, looking forward to reading about why you swore off Blizzard Beach...

Yes, goggles make wearing contacts in the water so much EASIER! I just wish I could find contacts I can actually wear without irritating my eyes. I fear I might be stuck wearing glasses all the time until I have enough money for laser eye surgery.

:welcome: and Thanks! :goodvibes I think I was really lucky with the nausea. Those little pills really were a miracle cure! Now that I'm in the second trimester, I kinda don't have any pregnancy symptoms anymore, which makes it hard to believe I really am pregnant... Can't wait to feel that baby move!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

We love Blizzard Beach! Have you tried TL?

Merry (belated) Christmas to you too. Of course I've tried TL. We went 2 years ago, as well as on day 3 of our Disneymoon. Did you skip that update? ;):rotfl2: I LOVE Typhoon Lagoon. I could spend hours in that wave pool. :cool1:

Mini Christmas Update

Disney was quite present for Christmas this year. I gave Ron a Jiminy Cricket ornament (since he was such a gentleman when we met him this past trip, AND I heard he has been retired from AK).

hallmarkJiminyCricketornament.jpg

Also in his stocking I gave him a Donald Duck pen I had bought at the POP souvenir shop last August. :) (It's not exactly this one, but it gives you an idea.)

donaclduckpen.jpg

I too received several Disney related gifts. My brother gave me the Xbox Kinect game "Disneyland". I've started playing it and it's awesome. You get to walk around Disneyland's Magic Kingdom, hug characters and get their autograph & pictures, and even go on rides! So far I've met the Fab 5, danced with Ariel and went bobsleigh on the Matterhorn.:wizard:

Kinect-Disneyland-Adventures.jpg

The other Disney gift was from Ron. Back on our Disneymoon I gave him a list of things I wanted and asked him to buy me my xmas gift right then and just keep it hidden until December 25. We even separated on one of our last days so he could go shopping. Well a few weeks ago he asked me for my Christmas wish list. When I told him "didn't you buy me my gift in Disney already?", he tried to throw me off and said he had forgotten. I knew he was lying! Did he really think I would forgot the time he asked me to leave the room so he could hide my gift in his luggage? :lmao: Anyway, I was right, and on Christmas morning I received a beautiful 40th anniversary t-shirt. :lovestruc

t-shirt.jpg

He also gave me another t-shirt. It's a maternity t-shirt (which is way too big right now, despite being a small!) that say "Roasting my lil' Peanut". :cloud9:

Amongst the other gifts I've received, my favorite ones were given by my mom : a cute bib (my first baby related purchase!", and a one night + dinner in Quebec City package. I've been meaning to take Ron there for a while now, and it will be perfect to have a last romantic getaway before Peanut arrives. :lovestruc

Today I went to Walmart and took advantage of everything Christmas related being 50% off to buy a new, bigger tree to celebrate Peanut's first Christmas next year. The one we have now is kinda small. And a bigger tree means more room to put ornaments, so I went a little crazy buying that. :upsidedow Of course, I also had to buy a much bigger star to put at the top. The one we have now is not even an inch tall!! Here's what our tree looks like this year (it's on a foot stool, to make it look bigger than it really is):

Slightly unrelated, I took advantage of the boxing week deals to make a wedding photobook. It took me 9 hours Monday night, plus a couple more the next day, but I love the result! Can't wait to receive it. :goodvibes Now if only I could continue working on my Disney photobook... But the photopass website is really not as user friendly as Shutterfly was. Plus I think they only keep pictures uploaded for 30 days, so I'll have to restart everything I'd already started. :headache:

Pregnancy wise, I've been feeling very "unpregnant" lately. I think it's because all the negative symptoms of the first trimester have disappeared, but it's too early to feel Peanut moving. I really want my next doctor appointment to get here soon so I can be reassured that Peanut is still there in my belly.

As for my TR, I really should update soon. :rolleyes1 I think I've been putting it off because that day was one of the worse two days of the trip. Nothing bad happened, it just wasn't as great or as magical as the other days.

Ah sweet you got the Disneyland game! I mean I would buy that game I really would it looks like so much fun from the footage I've seen of it but only problem with getting it is the fact that it's for Kinect. And I bloody hate Kinect! The only thing Disney related I've got so far for xmas is the Now that's what I call Disney album. Good to know you had a great christmas much better than my christmas though which my christmas consisting of me along with my family just sitting about and doing nothing.

Merry (belated) Christmas to you too. Of course I've tried TL. We went 2 years ago, as well as on day 3 of our Disneymoon. Did you skip that update? ;):rotfl2: I LOVE Typhoon Lagoon. I could spend hours in that wave pool. :cool1:

Duhhhhhhh :headache: of course I knew you went to TL lol BLONDE MOMENT!! I have a lot of those! So which did you prefer, BB or TL? We love BB!

I love your little Christmas tree but how exciting to get a bigger one for when the baby gets here! That Disneyland kinect game looks like so much fun! Also, what a cute shirt that Ron bought you :thumbsup2

I'm glad the unpleasant pregnancy side effects have subsided!
