Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

The pic that Mel put up doesn't do the river, justice. The scene is a very serene and nice view. It's the kind of image that's perfect for just chillin and calming one's self. While not as majestic as some mountainous vista, it still does the trick in giving the patients of the care center a much better view than the walls of the building.

Totally feeling the Disney bite today.

While, i'm nearer to "reality" mode, I was listening to sound bites of Wishes and MMAY and my heart felt the tiniest bit heavy. :)

It'll be too long before we go again.

I did donate to a charity today, and part of that was an early bird drawing for some nice prizes. The one I actually have my eye on is a flight from Air Canada anywhere in North America, and a week-long car Rental. I don't have to say where we would choose to go, if I managed to win that prize. LOL!!!

I keep wondering how surreal it would be to visit the world on off season. I have a hard time thinking about how sparce the place would be in comparison to the times we've been in the hind part of August.

I can not get over that you went on TSM 4 times in one day! I bet your arms did hurt! :lmao: Love the guy in the back of you at RnRC! He was definitely in to the rock and roll vibe! :lmao: Yay for getting to see Fantasmic with such a short wait! :woohoo:

Awww, the party for your mom sounds so sweet. I love the picture of you and Ron with her. :cloud9:

Ooohhh! I hope you win! Can you imagine, being able to go at a time when flights are usually so expensive? And of course, being able to go back this year would be WONDERFUL!!! :wizard:

I still can't get over how many times we rode TSM either. We certainly did not expect it! We thought we'd ride about twice, maybe a third time if we were lucky.

Yeah, that guy's face rocks!

Day 3 part 2 - Shopping... Wait! What?
August 13th, 2011

For any of you that actually pay attention to chapter titles, you must be wondering "How can she already be on part 2 for day 3? Did I miss part 1?"

Well... no you did not miss part 1. I just really want to have the photopass CD before doing part 1 of our Day 3 because most of the pictures are on there. Instead of making you wait, I just decided to talk about our evening right away. I hope it's fine with you guys!

So today we did something, came back to POP, slowly got ready for our evening and left the resort around 4:30pm. We took a bus to Downtown Disney and got off at Market Place.

* We are interrupting this trip report to file a complaint against @$&# Photobucket. It's already bad enough that it uploaded all my pictures in their original orientation despite me rotating them on my computer prior, but now it won't even let me ROTATE THEM PROPERLY!!! It just rotates the "frame" but not the actual image, making it look distorted and still sideways. I *think* I found a way around it, but it's a PITA. :headache: Getting off soap box now and returning to our original programming*

Our first stop was the Team Disney store. Ron really wanted a Run Disney shirt, to motivate himself into running more I guess. If we ever had the possibility of going to Disney at the same time as a race, we'd be totally motivated to train for the 5K.

Our next stop was World of Disney, though we were not looking for any souvenirs. What were we looking for? Some kind of eye drop liquid because my contacts were KILLING ME! I rarely (read never) ever wear contacts, but I had bought some so I could go without glasses at Disney. I wore them for the first time today and was fine in the afternoon, but not anymore. We found nothing so we asked a CM. She said there is no "pharmacy" type thing at DTD, but we could take a cab to the nearest Publix or something. I did not feel like doing that, especially since it was starting to drizzle. I just took off my contacts and "went blind" (not really, my eye sight is not *that* bad) for the rest of the night. Sure things were a bit blurry, but I managed.

With that, we decided to separate. Ron wanted to go to Disney Quest while I wanted to do more shopping. Plus, I don't think I would have been very good with my blurred vision...

Some pics he took on his way there.

I went back to World of Disney and explored the shop some more. I saw many things I wanted, but did not buy any. I was especially looking forward to Tren-D, but was actually disappointed by the selection. I guess it was *too* trendy and artsy and not enough Disney for me. The only shirt I really liked was a purple, off the shoulder, Pirates of the Caribbean shirt that you can actually find in many of the general gift store. I saw several women wearing the shirt later in the week.

My next destination was Once Upon a Toy. Last Christmas I bought a Mr Potato Head with the goal of buying the accessories at Disney. I don't even have a kid yet! Never too early to start... So I filled out a box full of accessories. It didn't quite close, but the cashier said it didn't matter. Yay!

DSC03247-1-1.jpg

DSC03246-1.jpg

The only thing is, I did not buy the regular arms, thinking I already had some. When I got here and checked out my accessories, I realized I did need an arm with a hand that's closed. Fail. Oh well, my kid will have to use the Darth Vader arm every time they want to use the autograph book, balloon, etc. Hahaha

Then I went into the Christmas store, where I had to resist the temptation to buy too much. I made a selection of several ornaments I liked, and decided to come back later with Ron to help me decide.

Ok, I wanted to do a bigger update, but photobucket is driving me crazy so I'll stop here.

Up Next, a romantic dinner.

Thanks for sharing!! That was such a cool video...got chills watching it :lovestruc

I got chills too! In fact, I was crying like a baby! The setting, the incredible dancing, the reaction... just wow! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks so much for sharing. I had a crappy day, and this was just what the doctor ordered. Had a couple nice cries!

Day 3 part 3 - A Romantic Dinner
August 13th, 2011

After exploring Downtown Disney on our own, Ron and I met up and walked to the restaurant Ron had chosen for our Romantic dinner, Fulton's Crab House.

A closer look.

DSC02866.jpg

We each took a picture of the other in our nice clothes in front of the boat.

DSC02868-1.jpg

The blow dryer did NOT agree with my hair that day. So much for looking all done up!

DSC02870-1.jpg

I don't exactly know much about Fulton's layout, but we were seated on the second floor, towards the back of the boat, looking out towards T-Rex and the Lego store.

DSC02876-1.jpg

Adam was our waiter and he did a good job. Nothing special, but nice. We ordered some wine. I love this picture because of the reflection in the wine glass.

DSC02875-1.jpg

They brought out some bread and crackers with a crab spread. The bread was definitely not as tasty as Kona, but Ron really enjoyed the crab thingy.

DSC02872.jpg

He also got some Seared Tuna as an appetizer, which he said was really good. It comes with soya sauce and ginger on the side.

DSC02871.jpg

Four our entrees I got the Filet Mignon with a Rosemary demi-glaze. VERY good, amongst the best filet mignon I've had. It was accompanied with some Yukon Gold whipped potatoes which were just okay.

DSC02878-1.jpg

Ron is a huge seafood lover, which is why he had chosen this restaurant. He got the Rhode Island Nagarasset lobster.

DSC02877.jpg

He said it was really good, but for the price he was a bit disappointed. I guess he was expecting to be wowed more. He ate it all though, plus finished off my plate.

The waiter took our pictures, we paid (175$ for two! :scared1:) and we left. We were both so full, we did not get a dessert. Nor did we stop at one of the good DTD snack places. Oh well.

DSC02882.jpg

Here's one last look at Fulton's.

DSC02886.jpg

We were both pretty tired, so we slowly made our way out of DTD. I dragged Ron to the Christmas store, where he helped me settle on this "Happily Ever After" ornament.

DSC03244-1.jpg

It's so weird to shop, buy something, yet leave the store empty handed. Gotta love resort delivery! We went to a couple more shops on the way out. Again I saw several artwork I'd love to buy, and almost bought a poster with Stitch reading a book.

When we reached the Market Place bus stop a POP bus was already there. Great! It pulls out as soon as we get in, but then gets stuck in major traffic between the Market Place and Pleasure Island stops. Ugh, not so great. But since we left DTD so early, we reached POP around 9:30pm, which is quite early in Disney terms. We again watched some TV and turned in about 90 minutes later.

Characters Today:
Lilo
Stitch

Up Next, Walking down Main Street, finally!

I know! I can't believe it's been 5 months since my wonderful wedding in Cuba. :cloud9:

I did write a lot while you were away so it's understandable that it's overwhelming to try and comment. But you are caught up now so no excuse. ;) And yes, Fulton's price :scared1:. That's why Ron was a bit disappointed, he felt that as good as it was, it wasn't THAT amazing.

:welcome: Glad you are enjoying the read. :wizard:

PHEW! I finally got a chance to come over here and I am all caught up! I'm in for the long haul and am so happy it's a long trip!

Happy 5 month anniversary! pixiedust:

Fulton's looks wonderful, but definitely expensive! :scared1:

Thank you. :goodvibes

For about half the price, we actually enjoyed Kona Cafe more.

PHEW! I finally got a chance to come over here and I am all caught up! I'm in for the long haul and am so happy it's a long trip!

Yay! Glad you got caught up. Yes, with a two week trip, at the rate I'm doing updates, we should still be here by Christmas. :lmao: It's okay though, helps with the Disney blues to relive my trip for a long time.

First, 5 months does go quickly!
We haven't returned to Fulton Crab for many years. In 2000 we could hardly wait to go there, anticipating wonderful seafood. We also found the food to be a 3 of 5, and the prices greatly inflated for the quality of the dishes. Understand that we have eaten at higher priced restaurants quite often at Disney, such as the steakhouse at the Yacht Club. The food there is so outstanding, we don't even bat an eye at the prices.

You both looked wonderful, and your night ended up special either way. I thought your hair looked great! :lovestruc

I am looking forward to reading more. :surfweb:

Thank you! And :welcome:

We almost tried the Steakhouse, as Ron had been in the mood for a steak for a couple of months. But then he had one for a friend's birthday so he was now in the mood for seafood and made me change the ADR. We'll have to try it next time though.

Awww, thank you! :goodvibes I guess I was just expecting/hoping for straight hair that night as my hair is always wavy. Plus, I'm not used to seeing myself without glasses so I always feel I look weird. :rotfl:
