Day 3 part 2 - Shopping... Wait! What?
August 13th, 2011
For any of you that actually pay attention to chapter titles, you must be wondering "How can she already be on part 2 for day 3? Did I miss part 1?"
Well... no you did not miss part 1. I just really want to have the photopass CD before doing part 1 of our Day 3 because most of the pictures are on there. Instead of making you wait, I just decided to talk about our evening right away. I hope it's fine with you guys!
So today we did
something, came back to POP, slowly got ready for our evening and left the resort around 4:30pm. We took a bus to Downtown Disney and got off at Market Place.
* We are interrupting this trip report to file a complaint against @$&# Photobucket. It's already bad enough that it uploaded all my pictures in their original orientation despite me rotating them on my computer prior, but now it won't even let me ROTATE THEM PROPERLY!!! It just rotates the "frame" but not the actual image, making it look distorted and still sideways. I *think* I found a way around it, but it's a PITA.
Getting off soap box now and returning to our original programming*
Our first stop was the Team
Disney store. Ron really wanted a Run Disney shirt, to motivate himself into running more I guess. If we ever had the possibility of going to Disney at the same time as a race, we'd be totally motivated to train for the 5K.
Our next stop was World of Disney, though we were not looking for any souvenirs. What were we looking for? Some kind of eye drop liquid because my contacts were KILLING ME! I rarely (read never) ever wear contacts, but I had bought some so I could go without glasses at Disney. I wore them for the first time today and was fine in the afternoon, but not anymore. We found nothing so we asked a CM. She said there is no "pharmacy" type thing at DTD, but we could take a cab to the nearest Publix or something. I did not feel like doing that, especially since it was starting to drizzle. I just took off my contacts and "went blind" (not really, my eye sight is not *that* bad) for the rest of the night. Sure things were a bit blurry, but I managed.
With that, we decided to separate. Ron wanted to go to Disney Quest while I wanted to do more shopping. Plus, I don't think I would have been very good with my blurred vision...
Some pics he took on his way there.
I went back to World of Disney and explored the shop some more. I saw many things I wanted, but did not buy any. I was especially looking forward to Tren-D, but was actually disappointed by the selection. I guess it was *too* trendy and artsy and not enough Disney for me. The only shirt I really liked was a purple, off the shoulder, Pirates of the Caribbean shirt that you can actually find in many of the general gift store. I saw several women wearing the shirt later in the week.
My next destination was Once Upon a Toy. Last Christmas I bought a Mr Potato Head with the goal of buying the accessories at Disney. I don't even have a kid yet! Never too early to start... So I filled out a box full of accessories. It didn't quite close, but the cashier said it didn't matter. Yay!
The only thing is, I did not buy the regular arms, thinking I already had some. When I got here and checked out my accessories, I realized I did need an arm with a hand that's closed. Fail. Oh well, my kid will have to use the Darth Vader arm every time they want to use the autograph book, balloon, etc. Hahaha
Then I went into the Christmas store, where I had to resist the temptation to buy too much. I made a selection of several ornaments I liked, and decided to come back later with Ron to help me decide.
Ok, I wanted to do a bigger update, but photobucket is driving me crazy so I'll stop here.
Up Next, a romantic dinner.
