Did you like it? Would you do it again or is it a 'once is enough' type of thing?

DD really wants to go Ziplining. DBF and I are both a little afraid of heights. Yes, I know it is high. But it looks sooooo cool. The thought of it makes my stomach knotted but still, it looks soooo cool.

I was looking into a horseback ride/zipline combo. But I'm also a wee bit afraid of riding horses. So I figured I'd knock out both fears in a few hours time. lol Bad idea? :lmao:

BTW, being afraid of horseback riding saddens me. I love horses. I love their smell, their beauty, their strength, etc. Unfortunately I had a little bit of a frisky horse last year when DBF, DD and I went on a trail ride. I'm afraid I'm scarred for life now!

ETA: Yes, I realize this falls under the category of Stupid Idea and/or even a "duh" moment. ;)

Here's mine ziplining through the rain forest...

We both did it, and would do it again. It was a real rush! It is very high, but I found myself relaxing and enjoying the scenery on some of the longer lines.

And, not to scare you, but one woman in our group did get stuck at the halfway point. So, there is that.

Well that's encouraging!

I did find one tour that has walk alongs but it is on a ranch type setting. DD could zipline and we could walk along taking pictures. I like the ones that are out in the forests better though.

I can't see the pic from this computer. I will look at it later.

We did Ziplines in Vallarta(Mexico), I know they have them in the US... But way too many safety regulations make it boring.

DH and I went zip lining in Jamaica (Original Canopy Tour, from Chukka Cove Farms) a couple years ago when we were on a cruise.

I was in a word, petrified. It was something that was w-a-y out of the box for me, but I wanted to break out of my shell and do something adventurous.

I think there were 8 or 9 regular lines, then 2 straight down. I think my knees were shaking on the first one, but after that I LOVED it!! What an awesome adventure, and I would do it again if I ever had the opportunity.

Here's a picture of me zipping:

My husband is afraid of heights and really loved ziplining. I think the whole coolness factor took over his fear.

Why don't you try this in Rockville?

My 11 year old is dying to go there.

DH and I ziplined when we were in St. Lucia 2 years ago. I talked him into going. It took almost the whole week to convince him to spend the $200.00 ($100.00 per person to go).

We had to take about a 1/2 hour bus ride through the rain forest to get to the zip line area. We had a " lesson" on how to zipline from our guide. Seriously I thought the guide connected you up and off you went. Well we found out at least at the one we were at, you have to hold your one hand behind you up by the line to kind of guide you. If you don't do it right, you could start spinning. Huh? :scared1:

I was horrifed of that plus did I mention I am scared of height? I told DH I wasn't doing it. By this time one woman was sobbing and refused to go off the platform. DH being the sympathetic soul he is, told me, " you talked me into this, I paid $200.00, you are going if I have to push you off myself." :lmao:

I went and I'm so glad I did. It was one of the best experiences and I would definetly do it again in a heartbeat.

LOVE IT!! Went in Dominican Republic. My then 12yo was so scared she was shaking. By the 3rd line she was a pro. I can't wait to save enough money to do it in Costa Rica. They have an awesome setup. I highly recommend it.

We ziplined in the mountains of Costa Rica and it was beautiful. I was nervous at first, but soon relaxed and enjoyed it. We were the oldest in our group and the cute young guides started calling us Mama and Papa. Even though it was fun and interesting seeing the rainforest canopy, I would only do it again for a remarkably different view.

Sounds like everyone, even those afraid of heights, enjoyed it. I'm going to have to think really hard on this one. I'd hate to pay all the money then chicken out.

mdsoccer, looks like a fun place. I have never heard of it before.

We went in the rainforest in Puerto Rico last summer, and we all LOVED it! So much so, that we are going again this summer in the Smokey Mountains, not far from Gatlinburg. It is one of those things that is terrifying to try, but you end up loving it! :thumbsup2

I did it in Vegas a few months ago - about 30 min from the strip in the mountains. It was fun, but I wasn't scared to start out with. My friend was petrified, but loved it after the first one.

We did about 6 lines. By the fourth line, I was bored.

I Chickened on this! Said I was the first one ever to back out!

That's what we did and everyone had fun. :goodvibes How old is your DD?

My kids were 12 when they went last summer in NH. I was concerned about safety but after talking to owners and the guides they'd be with, I felt they'd be safe. (Each guide either had or was completing a degree in Outdoor Adventure Skills or something to that effect and it was clear that safety was a priority.) They loved it!

Remember to wear solid sneakers, not slides or sandals.

My family went ziplining last year at Massanutten Resort in Virginia. We absolutely loved it! I was afraid at first, but my family convinced me to give it a try. I would definitely go again if I was given the chance. The lines were kinda low, with only one that was pretty high. I would like to try some higher lines if I had the chance. :thumbsup2

They are currently installing a zipline over Gatorland here in Orlando. It sounds really cool. You actually zip over ponds full of alligators. I am not big on heights, so I don't know if I'll do it or not. I'd like to, but I may be too chicken. It's not about the fall. I just don't want to be eaten by a gator! :goodvibes

We have ziplined in Maui, Kauai and Roatan. Can you tell we loved it enough to do again and again? I'm not really afraid of heights, but I am afraid of falling. Ziplining isn't so bad to me, because you are sliding more than falling. I don't think I could get myself to bungy jump, but ziplining is awesome!!

We read great things about Princeville Ranch on Kauai, but we used Outfitters Kauai, because they allow 7yo's and that's how old our youngest was at the time. (Also it was closer to where we were staying, but I don't think they had a combo horse/zip tour.) It was a blast. The 7yo loved it so much she cried when it was over because she wanted to go again the next day and we told her we couldn't.

Everywhere we've done it, they start you off on the shorter, slower, lower lines to give you a feel for it. Honestly, the first couple are a little boring, IMO, but they have to give you that confidence for the longer, faster, higher ones that come later.

Do it! It's so much fun!

I'm not a huge fan of heights but I wouldn't have a problem zip lining. I would and probably will try it eventually. Now I grew up around horses. Ever since the Christopher Reeve thing, I haven't gotten back on another horse. THey are just too unpredictable IMO. Now a ride on the beach probably would be pretty safe. But I'm paranoid when it comes to dangerous or even semi-dangerous entertainment activities. Ziplining should be perfectly safe though.
