Yesterday my 21 DS went for his eye exam since his contact lens script had expired but his glasses didn't. The eye exam place that I took him to would NOT give me his PD! They said that was their property since I was not purchasing glasses from them
I refused to leave there until they gave it to me. My DS was a bit embarrassed by my actions but I did not care. I told them that legally they had to give it to me since it was part of his script. They gave me the script for the glasses with no problems. After about 15 minutes (no exageration) of moaning by them, they gave in and did it. I didn't trust they gave me the correct info so when I got home, I called Sears which is where he went 2 years ago. His glasses were from there then... I asked them what his PD was, they told me to hold on, they pulled his chart and gave it to me over the phone.. no questions asked. I told them that since he still had time left on his script for glasses I was going to order from Zenni since he lost his other pair and I didn't want to spend a fortune.. they said they didn't blame me.. now here is Sears, that I did NOT bring him to for his updated contact exam... gave them no money in 2 years and they gave me the info over the phone. This other place.. Opti Express, I gave them $100 yesterday for an exam & they refused to give me his PD... until I made a stink ... go figure....
Now, my son doesn't want to order from Zenni, he is afraid that he will not like the way they look. I think I am going to order anyway since I can get a complete pair for him with clip on sun glasses for just under $30. His contacts I am going to order online as well. They are going to run me close to $200 for a years worth.. he had the trial pair in yesterday, he lost one already..
He wants the Acuvue Oasis.. I think I am going to tell the doc he needs the Acuvue 2 since they are nearly $10 per box cheaper. He out grew his asigmatisim thank God.. those were really expensive contacts...
I think I have aquired about a years worth in my drains/pipes over the last 3 years
and that explains why he is short them in the one eye.. I don't feel too bad though, his vision has changed so he would have not been able to use them anyway.... that is one way of looking at it..... glasses are lost, short contacts on the one eye.. oh the thrills of children.. and he is 21! It doesn't get better, let me tell you, if they are 12 or 21, they still loose them!
