Zen And The Art Of PTR Maintenance. Sept 2016 PTR. 16/4 Trip Report Anyone??

I'm pretty sure I would go first then Katie if that helps!

I believe you.

It could happen! Also it's 46 now...:rolleyes1 48 if you count the off site ones...

That just means you won't go home hungry.

Hey I just realised where I know you from! You are that little devil on my shoulder telling me to do all the naughty things I shouldn't do!

3933509_orig.gif

You have no idea what naughty things I would tell you to do.

I wish I could come share that baked Alaska with you!!!

Get in line, Kathy!

Yes! Then I can order it! Just look at it! :faint:

menu_item_image_922.jpg

Why of course Mr waiter at The BOATHOUSE I have enough people to eat this massive baked Alaska smores thing can't you see my invisible friends Kathy and pkondz?! :rotfl:

Hey. Lu!!

Hi Colleen! :wave2:

Only 40 ADR choices? That's not that many.

Hmmm...yeah...I may have added a few more in my attempt to narrow it down...:rolleyes1

I wish I could help you with your 2TS dilemma. The only one I've tried is Artist Point. We really enjoyed it. It doesn't seem to get a lot of love and maybe there are good reasons for that. :confused3 I think it's worth a try. It's also pretty quiet if that matters to you.

Thanks for this, I haven't really heard many reviews about Artist Point so it's good to hear you enjoyed it! :goodvibes

Fulton and Boathouse aren't on my radar but Narcoossee's and Cali Grill are the two signatures on my list for August. :thumbsup2 I wish I ate steak or the Yachtsman would be at the top of my list. I've heard so many wonderful things about that place. ::yes::

I'm sort of rethinking the Boathouse, maybe we will go and just have the smores baked Alaska! :rotfl: Yachtsman is one I am very excited about, I do eat steak  I'm just like Penny from The Big Bang Theory! :rotfl2:

11910527_1474953786140311_665447613_n.jpg

I bet you think I have my ADR list all mapped out right?

This is one of the hardest things for me to narrow down also, too many choices!

I have been trying to narrow down my ADR list (as there is over 40 on it :rolleyes1)

Only 40? No big deal! :rolleyes1 We can handle this!

do I save the 2 TS credit meals for when we have the DDP or not?:confused3

My strategy is to save the 2credit meals for the most expensive places. But I'm a cost comparison kinda person, so I figured out which places would cost less OOP and use DP credits on the rest.

  • Yachtsman Steakhouse

This is one that I think will be a none negotiable. I love steak. ::yes::

Yes, deifnately keep this one! Mmmmmmmm steak! I have this on my list for Sept/Oct. also!
giphy.gif

Fulton's Crab House

This is probably one I'd eliminate since its a repeat for you, even though you loved it. My DH suggested Fulton's also but it's the one and only TS place we've been to at DW so I took it off the list. Far too many other places I want to try before I start doing repeats :)

I was considering doing Narcoossee's OOP when we are at GF but now I'm thinking we might do in on the DDP when we are at CR instead. I really want to get the Black Angus New York Strip Steak with 7 oz Butter poached or Steamed Canadian Waters Lobster Tail- Boniato-Idaho potatoe mash, organic romano and yellow wax beans, with red wine-oxtail reduction followed by Narcoossee's Candy Bar - Dark chocolate-mocha bar with house-made guanaja chocolate gelato.

This is exactly what I would get there!

California Grill

:thumbsup2

  • The Boathouse
This is one that I was thinking we would do OOP as I don't really like the sound of the desserts...well I do like the sound of Gibson's S'Mores Baked Alaska but it's for four people! So we would probably do the The BOATHOUSE Surf & Turf Table -28 oz. dry aged Tomahawk rib chop and 1 1/4 lb. whole Maine lobster, serves two.

I may be totally wrong but I thought I read somewhere that if the menu says "serves two" at a Sig. Restaurant it's not eligible for DP credit use??:confused3 But if you're going to pay OOP anyway, problem solved! Otherwise, if you decide to go for the s'mores baked Alaska, let me know and the hubs and I will totally meet you there and help you out with that baby!

  • Artist Point
This wasn't even something I was considering until someone *cough* @TheLittleKatie *cough*
mentioned it and now it's on my list! :sad2:

AP hasn't been at the top of my list but I heard they have a new chef and have heard good things about it

  • Cinderella's Royal Table
This is more than likely one we won't go to. Really I just want to eat in the castle! princess:

Eating in the castle...:cloud9: But I'd either pay OOP or eliminate this one also.

Booze Round!

I'll have one of each, please and thank you!
giphy.gif

BTW, what are the dates you'll be at the Poly again? I thought I remembered we'd miss you by a couple of days but I can't remember if I remembered right

Had to go back and edit, typing with a cat on my lap proves to be difficult!

Hello again! I'm back with more food for thought! :rotfl:

GIF-Eating-food-Food-Snacks-GIF.gif
Last time I was pondering our 2TS credit options and I am 60% sure what I think we will try and book. But as everyone knows I'm not adverse to changing my mind one or twice...or fifteen….:rolleyes1

Groundhog-Day-quotes-8.gif

So as the 2TS credits are covered why don't we get back to the 1TS credits? We are doing it anyway! You don't get a choice!
  • Sanaa (have I done this yet? I don't remember and I can't be bothered to check...I'm feeling super lazy today…)

This is where I'm planning on having dinner on our arrival day, we get into MCO at 2:30pm so I'm thinking of maybe getting a table for around 8/8:30pm? I have been having doubts if we will really want a full meal when we get there after a long flight.

too-full.gif

If we do go here on our first night I'm thinking of going for Potjie Inspired – Choice of Two – Butter Chicken, Spicy Durban Shrimp, served with Basmati Rice (altered to what I would pick!) followed by Tanzanian Chocolate Mousse -Kenya Coffee and Caramel. Everyone who goes to Sanaa seems to rave about the bread service so maybe we will add this Indian-style Bread Service-Choice of Five Breads - Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kucha, or Paneer Paratha. Choice of Three Accompaniments - Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chuntey, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal, or Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle.
  • Coral Reef
Who doesn't want to eat in front of a giant aquamarine?! Plus watching the divers having fun is also really cool! Having said that I couldn't eat fish in front of their fishy friends...that just seems needlessly cruel!

tumblr_n0fj7pdSnv1shsvppo1_500.gif

Instead I would have Grilled New York Strip Steak- with Cheddar Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and Bercy Butter followed by The Chocolate Wave- served with Raspberry Gelato, but I've talking DM into getting the Turtle Cheesecake - with Caramel Chantilly Cream and Hazelnut Praline cause it looks adorable (and I hate cheescake!:crazy2:)

  • Grand Floridian Café
I'm planning on having our overnight stay at the GF as kind of a resort day (well for DM at least I don't think I'll be able to stay away from the parks…) so to keep it in that spirit I'm thinking we will have dinner here and breakfast before we check out. Dinner wise I'm likeing the look of the Char-crusted New York Strip Steak - Herb-roasted Potatoes, Broccolini, and Tomato-laced Béarnaise Sauce and the Chocolate Fondue - with Fruit, Brownie Bites, and Campfire Marshmallows. We don't usually do big breakfasts, but I love me some pancakes so you gotta do what you gotta do! Buttermilk Pancakes - served with Bacon or Sausage, the French Toast- Brioche French Toast with Madagascar Vanilla Bean-Batter with Bacon or Sausage looks really good too!

tumblr_inline_moj9yiJfUX1qz4rgp.gif
  • Captain's Grille
This one is one where the dessert is the main reason for the meal! Who doesn't love dessert?! If it's you that is weird bro :sad2:

4fc43460-9375-0132-4428-0ebc4eccb42f.gif

The entrées sound good too! I would have New York Strip - Crème Fraîche Whipped Potatoes, Roasted Mushrooms, Oven-cured Tomatoes, and Cabernet Reduction followed by the S'mores Chocolate Tart - with Graham Cracker Crust and Chocolate Sauce (yum and wow!) and I'm going to get DM to order the Gianduja Chocolate Cake - Hazelnut, Salted Caramel Sauce, and Chocolate Crispies cause that sounds pretty amazeballs too!

  • Kona Café
This is another restaurant where I want to try the breakfast as well as the dinner. As they say “when at the Poly...eat breakfast at Kona...”. :scratchin

Besides-Breakfast.gif

I'm thinking the Big Kahuna - French Toast, Pancakes topped with Pineapple Sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter, Eggs, Home-fried Potatoes, Ham, Bacon, and Sausage because I love pancakes and French toast! But I don't think I would want the potatoes, I don't like potatoes for breakfast! Of course I'm very torn wanting to try the Tonga Toast -Banana-stuffed Sourdough French Toast rolled in Cinnamon Sugar and served with a Strawberry Compote and your choice of Ham, Bacon, or Sausage. Decisions decisions. As for dinner I'm pretty much set on the Grilled New York Strip - served with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Molasses-Bacon Butter and the Kilauea Torte - An explosion of warm liquid Chocolate inside Chocolate Volcano (sounds pretty yummy!)
  • 'Ohana
original.gif

(Stitch is too freaking cute! :goodvibes)
Now I'm sure everyone is familiar with the menu at 'Ohana but incase you aren't here is what is on offer ‘Ohana Pineapple-Coconut Bread (which I will not be partaking of), Mixed Greens Salad with a Lilikoi dressing, Pork Dumplings tossed in Garlic-Ginger Sauce- served with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces, Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings- served with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces (both of those sound drool worthy), Sweet-n-Sour Chicken - prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces, Szechuan Sirloin Steak - prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces, Spicy Grilled Peel-n-Eat Shrimp - prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces (the shrimp and steak so good to me!), Noodles, tossed in a Teriyaki Sauce - with Fresh Vegetables, Stir-fried Vegetables and finally the famous 'Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode - with Bananas-Caramel Sauce, which I am not that excited about :duck: Please don't hate me 'Ohana loves! I just don't really like banana flavoured stuff beyond normal banana on its own. Even then it has to be firm, I don't enjoy a floppy banana ;)

YIuOkIg.jpg
  • T-REX
I really didn't enjoy the Rainforest Café when we went in 2012, I can hear you all shouting now “but Lu the same people who do Rainforest Café do T-REX are you CRAZY?!” well to you I say calm down and yes we have already established that I am indeed crazy. All the reviews I have read seems to suggest that T-REX is better than Rainforest Café and it looks so cool inside that I've decided to give that little dino guy a try! But man I'm finding it hard to pick something! There is too much to choose from! So far I'm settling on Paleozoic Chicken Sandwich - Grilled chicken, lettuce, bacon, pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato, lemon aioli served with waffle fries (but no avocado :crazy2:) or maybe a burger as I am very classy...followed by either (or both…) the Ice Age Indulgence (for Two) - Layers of ice cream sandwiches, fudge sauce, whipped topping, Heath Bar Crunch® or the Meteor Donut Bites (for Two) - Chocolate and vanilla donut holes, powdered sugar, caramel and chocolate sauces. Of course there is always the Chocolate Extinction (for Four) - Chocolate fudge cake, ice cream, whipped topping, fudge and caramel sauce, Butterfinger® crumbs, but again that is for four and there is only the two of us. Anybody wanna share?? No? More for me then! :rotfl:

f
  • Raglan Road

I remember coming here twice with my father and step mother on our trip in 2006. Both times they got my order wrong! The first time they had this amazing chocolate lava cake on the menu that was TO.DIE.FOR so when my father wanted to go again I agreed so I could have that cake again...of course within the four days since our first visit they CHANGE THE MENU and took my lava cake off!! :furious:

2881512-7329715083-14325.gif

Needless to say I was not all that happy with Raglan Road and refused to return in 2012 just to spite them. :snooty: But since I am mostly over it, I think we will give them another try. Starting off with Nom Nom Wings - Sweet 'n spicy wings tossed in a honey, chili flake, soy and ginger sauce (sound pretty darn good don't they?) then the Burger 'R' Way - Char-grilled sirloin beef burger with bacon, tomato chutney and Dubliner vintage cheddar and then because the chocolate dessert has orange marmalade in it (why?!) Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding - Like no other you have ever tried. Believe us. Yeah I would like to believe you RR but I've been burned before! :sad2: But I'm totally over it

move%20on.gif
Anyway! Let's move on shall we? :rotfl2:

It's that time again when we get a little (or a lot) drunk!

My strategy is to save the 2credit meals for the most expensive places. But I'm a cost comparison kinda person, so I figured out which places would cost less OOP and use DP credits on the rest.

Me too! I did a whole list of all the ones we want to try and worked out roughly what each would cost and tried to pick which to do OOP and which to do on the DDP! :thumbsup2

tumblr_muokbsyYvf1rjatglo1_r1_500.gif

Yes, deifnately keep this one! Mmmmmmmm steak! I have this on my list for Sept/Oct. also!

You should totally come along and share the s'mores baked Alaska! :hyper:

AP hasn't been at the top of my list but I heard they have a new chef and have heard good things about it

It wasn't even on my radar but the more I looked into it the better and better it sounded! ::yes::

Eating in the castle...:cloud9: But I'd either pay OOP or eliminate this one also.

This is a big question mark for me :confused3I think it depends on what 2TS we decide on and also if the rest of the Disney Springs restaurants are open like The Edison and STK Orlando these would be more likely what I would choose. Oh and Morimoto Asia I think is now on the DDP so I'm even more torn!

I'll have one of each, please and thank you!

If I'm being honest I'm not a coffee fan either, well actually I like the smell of coffee and the taste of it cold but I cannot drink hot water! :crazy2: I am a weird soul! :rotfl: So if it's cold and boozy I'm good! :thumbsup2

Here is a hint for enjoying rum:

Step 1: Get absolutely off your face on whatever alcoholic beverage that does float your boat. :drinking1

Step 2: Drink all the rum you want! :thumbsup2 You won't have a clue what you are drinking by this point anyway! :dancer::dancer:

 Ew! Okay, good to know.

I'm sorry I'm British (and completely unaware of what is happening in the world) so I have no idea what happened!

It was a tense time in our Country. The entire Province of Quebec was voting on whether or not to secede from Canada, in effect forming its own country. No one was sure how that would work, and the vast majority of people outside Quebec didn't want it to happen. Tens of thousands of Canadians traveled across the country to Quebec or Ottawa (our capitol) to show support. All those Yes signs were for Quebecers to vote Yes to leave Canada. The vote continued throughout the day and into the evening. Around 10pm (might've been later) the result came in with a whopping 94% voter turnout. 1.82% of the votes were spoiled or blank. Of the remaining votes... 49.42% voted Yes, while the No vote garnered 50.58%. Damn close.

But I'm glad what ever it was worked out...or didn't work out...:confused3...either way Yay for Canada! :cheer2:

Yay us!

I love how on the DIS if you hold down shift-alt-backspace while highlighting with the right mouse button you can see what the asterisks are hiding.

And my goodness! You are a very, very, very, very naughty girl!

Interesting. So no tea (my God... but... but... you're British!!!) or hot chocolate?

Nope no tea :duck:The Queen will probs feed me to the swans now for being totally unBritish!

I can have hot chocolate but only if it is made with hot milk!

 I have bad news for you. I never "get off my face". I'm too cheap to pay for that much booze! But if you want to get off my face, go right ahead.

You want me to get off your face? Okay then...

Damn close.

That's like when Scotland wanted to be independent from the UK, everyone thought they would vote yes but nope! Over 55% said no and Scotland is still stuck to us! Most people in the UK really didn't care!

I personally think it was because the main guy was called Salmon, can you really trust that guy? Sounds fishy to me! :rotfl:

Having said that the woman who took over from him is called Sturgeon! What is it will all the fish in the SIP?? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I am 60% sure what I think we will try and book.

Said with great confidence

Im excited to eat here for the first time!

Omg, this sounds unreal. I'm probably going to get the butter chicken and braised beef, and that bread service sounds amazing! And Tanzanian chocolate mousse...

I'm planning on having our overnight stay at the GF as kind of a resort day (well for DM at least I don't think I'll be able to stay away from the parks…)

  • Captain's Grille

The entrées sound good too! I would have New York Strip - Crème Fraîche Whipped Potatoes, Roasted Mushrooms, Oven-cured Tomatoes, and Cabernet Reduction followed by the S'mores Chocolate Tart - with Graham Cracker Crust and Chocolate Sauce (yum and wow!) and I'm going to get DM to order the Gianduja Chocolate Cake - Hazelnut, Salted Caramel Sauce, and Chocolate Crispies cause that sounds pretty amazeballs too!

This was on my list, then I took it off, and now I've added it again. DARN YOU.

Kona Café

I'm thinking the Big Kahuna

We had this for breakfast this year, it was amaaaaazing!

I can hear you all shouting now “but Lu the same people who do Rainforest Café do T-REX are you CRAZY?!” well to you I say calm down

"Well to you I say calm down" :rotfl: that tickled me and I don't know why.

Bailey’s Shake - Frozen mix of ice cream, Bailey’s, coffee liqueur (Raglan Road)

Yum and wow :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Re-commenting on this.
Just by sheer coincidence I watched this episode yesterday for the first time.

Nope no tea :duck:The Queen will probs feed me to the swans now for being totally unBritish!

Watch your back... I'll do that free of charge, actually.

I can have hot chocolate but only if it is made with hot milk!

Is there any other way??

You want me to get off your face? Okay then...

Well, eventually you have to change positions.

That's like when Scotland wanted to be independent from the UK, everyone thought they would vote yes but nope! Over 55% said no and Scotland is still stuck to us! Most people in the UK really didn't care!

I was following that too. I find it funny that I'm watching it with more interest from across the pond.

I personally think it was because the main guy was called Salmon, can you really trust that guy? Sounds fishy to me! :rotfl:

:sad2:

Having said that the woman who took over from him is called Sturgeon! What is it will all the fish in the SIP?? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Are you kidding?!?!?

No one knows why Lu hasn't been banned yet.

Ok I'm from Colorado and I don't ski.

Hey there! Im new to the whole DIS thing but Ive been lurking for a while now. Im really enjoying your PTR! Im not all the way through yet but its so much fun! Im planning a trip at the end of september start of october with my boyfriend (his first time!) Your trip looks amazing! Hope you dont mind me tagging along!

Hi Lu!

I figured it was about time that I did the proper Dis thing and started checking out the PTRs for those people who've taken the time to comment on mine.

I promise I've read all 28 pages and am all caught up.

There are many reasons for not joining in sooner but I'm going to go with the fact you started this PTR before I'd even heard of the dis!

Looking forward to hearing all about the rest of your planning :cutie:
