Zappos Customer accounts hacked..FYI

I got the email from them this morning....following the zappos and 6pm email...I received 4 emails from Amazon about my recent purchases the last one was to update my credit card info due to the payment not going through...it was for $1495!!!!! What in the heck and it said it was purchased on amazon through Daily Deal USA...which I had never been on..after an hour or so we were able to cancel out the orders and changed my amazon password...but I didn't connect the 2 until I read the article you posted...I had no idea Zappos and 6pm were Amazon owned..ugh...could have been so much worse!!!

My husband had 2 fraudulent charges on his credit card last month, both were amazon purchases. The first was around $1000 & the second was $10. Fortunately his credit card company flagged the charges & contacted us prior to authorization.

My CC was compromised last month, shortly after a 6pm.com order. I received the email about 6pm being compromised yesterday. :/

Oh yes...if they were still all on their own, not connected to amazon, it would have been WAY worse. From the info the zappos stuff said (their servers in Kentucky), the info was hacked from the non-amazon side of them... Glad the rest of the info was safe and sound on amazon's servers. :)

As for fraudulent stuff being *ordered* from amazon, that's just b/c it's a big online site, easy to order from. But for crooks it's really silly, b/c it's so easily caught, and their anti-fraud department is so robust.

I am a zappos customer, but never got an email about my information being compromised. Does that mean I was not compromised?

I guess I should play it safe and change the PW anyway.

Nothing fraudulent on my credit cards yet, but they did hack into my email and spam all of my contacts.

There was an unauthorized transaction made to my Paypal account on Xmas eve from an overseas merchant. Dont know how that happened, but I filed an unauthorized transaction claim with paypal and got my money back.

I got an email from them saying that they wiped out everybody's passwords to be on the safe side. It said to create another one on their website if you want to.

Placed an order through 6pm.com several weeks ago. Just found out today that someone stole my credit card number. 6pm.com's email said the hackers didn't get any credit card #'s but I find this odd. Haven't had a number stolen in at least 10 years before this.
