My hubby and I just returned from a quick (but super!) weekend trip and we had two wonderful dining experiences:
On our first night, we went to Nine Dragons, which we had been to previously and really enjoyed after years of avoiding it because of an incorrect assumption that it would just be overpriced takeout. Nothing could be further from the truth, so we couldn't wait to go back and make up for lost time! We were seated immediately and had a very kind and polite server. We ordered the Sampler for Two which is a great value for all the food you get. They start you out with soup and a dim sum appetizer plate, and then we chose the honey sesame chicken and the pepper beef as entrees. Everything was delicious! The chicken was so moist and sweet, and we also really enjoyed the Shao Mai dim sum. I have no idea what it was, but it was wonderful! They finish the meal with red bean ice cream, which didn't sound very appetizing to me but it was tasty! Kind of like a vanilla bean flavor, but obviously red. Two thumbs way up for this one, and with our DDE card it seemed like a super value for all the food we got!
On the second night, we finally made it to Ohana. We have been going to Disney for years now and for whatever reason, never made it to Ohana. HUGE mistake!! It's a beautiful restaurant with great theming, the friendliest servers I have ever encountered, and I could see the castle from my table! Heaven! DH had the Lapu Lapu cocktail and I had one sip and felt tipsy. I had the Mai Tai which was yummy and more my speed! We loved the coconut bread which they start you off with, and then came this huge spinning tray of goodies! Everything - even the salad - was bursting with flavor and just delicious. The skewers of meat were awesome too. I had WAY too many shrimp but they just kept coming so I HAD to eat them! The pork was a little dry, and that is my only complaint. I would have stuck with the shrimp and beef regardless though. As if they weren't tasty enough on their own, they give you amazing dipping sauces too (the peanut sauce was my favorite)! And don't even get me started on the pineapple and caramel - yum! Amazing atmosphere, unique dining experience, and delicious food - Ohana may be our favorite Disney restaurant! And again, with the DDE card, it felt like a bargain for all the food we put away!
Sorry that got so long! I've made myself hungry again...
