yuck look at the crowds today at magic kingdom!

we just got back yesterday. Thursday wasnt bad at MGM and the afternoon at the magic kingdom wasnt too bad either. The problem we had was the amount of people stuffed in for the MVMCP on friday night. I have to say IF we go back again next year ( this was our 5 year for this tradition) I will pick a week day. the wait times were unbelievable and I felt claustrophobic during the show and parade between all of the people.. Luckily we got into the park at 4:30 and were able to ride a few rides prior to 7pm....

Yikes! I usually go this time of year- glad I wasn't there for those crowds!

I'll be there during MLK weekend this year- my plan is to seclude myself at AKL and not come out till the crowds go away! :)

I'm getting nervous. I have a day planned at MK for next Saturday. We have a ressie at CRT at 8:15am so I am definitely going. I figure if it becomes mobbed we'll hop somewhere else. We are planning on a midday break anyway.

We just got back this afternoon from our trip. We had a fantastic time!!!! However, yesterday at the Magic Kingdom was unbelieveable!!! We got there right before the park opened, and they were just letting you put your card through - no finger touch or anything! Main Street was already wall-to-wall people! (We did get to see Regis & Kelly though!!) We went through the stores (along with almost everybody else!), and got to Big Thunder, which had a couple minutes wait! Rode it twice (DH had gone to get fast passes for Space Mountain). Rode the train around, stopped in Toon Town and rode Goofys Barnstormer, went back for Space Mountain and it was down. Did Buzz Lightyear (3 times in a row - CM let my DD stay on since her "gun" broke on the first ride through!!!). Had lunch at Plaza Restaurant and went back for Space Mountain!!! Then we left!!! It was too crowded!!!!

We did MVMCP on Thurs, Nov 30 - it was absolutely the best!!!!! We walked on to almost every ride!!!! Did Big Thunder twice and Space Mountain three times!! We even walked right on the Indy Speedracers! DD had the best time being able to ride all the rides so quickly!!!!!

Oh, and I didn't see any one without bracelets for the party! In fact, a few times as we were walking around, CMs were holding a snowman with a little light and asked everybody to show their bracelets! So they were definitely checking!!! It was a great night for us!!!!!!

We went that morning as well. So many people had said that the crowds on taping day wouldn't be bad as long as you didn't try and hang out on Mainstreet. What a load of bull! Traffic all over the park was ridiculous. We had fast passes for Space Mountain (because it was broken down early in the morning when we first got there) that we couldn't use because we couldn't get back across the park in time due to floats coming in and out all day long with massive portions of the streets roped off, and the incredibly large number of guests packed into the remaining space like sardines. By 12:30 we decided to give up, buy some fudge, and head back to the hotel. After getting fudge in the Confectionary, it took us 20 minutes to wade through the crowds between the store and the main gates to get out.

When we got back to AKL, called some friends that were still in the park, and they skipped Space Mountain completely, reporting 80 minute wait times. 80 minutes. Look, I love Space Mountain, but the day where I'm willing to wait 80 minutes for it is long past.

Thankfully, we pretty much got everything we wanted to do done on our MVMCP night, though it did start off with a rained out parade.

We had dinner at 'Ohana that night, and stopped back in later to see how things were going. It was a lot better, but crowds were still a lot worse than we are used to for the time of year. We were going to get som more fudge (didn't expect the eggnog fudge to be that good!) but by now the fudge line was 20 people deep, so we skipped it.

Then yesterday we stopped in to Epcot, which was also bizarre, see another thread for that.

This was a different trip for us. We usually arrive the sunday after thanksgiving, and leave on friday. While crowds were higher than we were used to even earlier in the week, friday at AK, and saturday at MK were unbearable. They reminded me of the summer trips of my youth. If we go back for this week in the future, we will likely stick strictly to the normal schedule of ariving on Sunday, and leaving on Friday.
